I bought a car, sold "as is", because the dealership advertised the car saying "everything under the hood is in perfect working condition." this was my first time buying a car and they took advantage of it. the car is missing 2 lug nuts on the front driver side, and back passenger side wheel(i don't know how the car passed inspection) it was sold to me with no transmission fluid, when i put some in it began to leak badly(i have pictures) the very next day after purchasing the car i noticed a knocking noise in the engine and everytime i started the car it began to shake for about 10 seconds. everyday the cars engine would make new noises, by day four the car wouldn't start. day five it started up but it was overheating within 5 minutes of being on(i didn't know how to read the hot/cold gauge yet being that this was my first car) i tried taking it back but the dealership will not take it back. i took it to a mechanic, they said the transmission is leaking severly, the head gasket is overheating and its warped 4.0.. its missing lug nuts, the brakes are bad, and has moisture in the oil. i stopped driving the car unless it was a emergency and while i was on the freeway oneday, the car began to shake violently and started to jump back n forth and i couldn't press the gas because it would not go. i could have been killed on the freeway. i just recently took it to another mechanic shop called arrow's transmission. they declared the entire engine a total fail and unsafe. *tr

Vehicle suddenly turned off and dangerously stalled while driving at low speed without any warning. after several attempts of trying to start it, it finally did and i drove it for about 10 miles without no further incidents. *tr engine light came on and i took it to dealer who diagnosed it as the failure of the crank shaft position sensor which had earlier been reprogrammed in 2008 due to a recall to avoid such a sudden stall from happening. nissan was not helpfull other than replacing the same sensor from and charge you a bomb for it. nissan north america can a do a better job when addressing their recalls rather than providing a band aid solution to their recalls. during their recall campaign, they should have replaced this sensor from the get go rather than just reprogramming the ecm which still didnt address critical issue of safety for such a sensor failing without any warning.

I own a 2005 nissan altima with only 51,570 miles and i noticed a strange sound coming from the engine. i use top grade gas and have had the oil changed every 3000-3500 miles. i took it to a shop and found that it was the tentioner for the timing belt. have he got to the item he showed me where the hard plastic clip had busted off and had the allowed the timing belt to become sloppy. thank god i had a extended warranty so it was covered however, now i notice i am using excessive oil. i only now have 51,880 miles and had to add 1 qt oil. in checking with web sites it is a common problem with the pre-cats causing issues and nissan is aware but will not do a recall on the vehicle. it is a design flaw and should be covered by nissan. *tr

While driving the clutch pedal will loose all pressure and will fall to the floor. the vehicle must be shut off and left prior the pressure building back up in the clutch. this is extremely dangerous as the driver is unable to shift gears or put the vehicle in neutral. this is a notorious problem with all nissan altima se-r with manual gear boxes. this problem will cause an accident and get someone killed. tt

About 2 yrs ago the engine light came on in my nissan. i took it for a diagnostic and it came up with two codes that at this point i don't remember. however, what i was told is that i needed my crankshaft sensor replaced. i checked online for information about this sensor and i came across a recall for this sensor. around the same time my headlights started burning out bulbs also. i also noticed there was a recall on a headlight issue. i contacted a local dealership to check my vin to see if i qualified for the recall and i was told my vin was supposedly one of the impacted ones. which is too coincidental. my car stalls while running and at times will not start. and i say will, because, i brought it in to 2 different shops for replacement and neither could find a compatible sensor. they even ordered one from nissan and it did not fit and were unable to fix it. they apologized and said that i would be able to drive it but would eventually need to somehow replace it. i have since continued driving it, as it is the only vehicle i have. it has gotten worse and turns off my often. i am asking for some type of help. i am out of options. i am afraid it will one day shut off as i driving and cause a catastrophe. *tr
My 2005 nissan altima 2.5 4 cyl qrd25 engine has had constant problems including excessive oil consumption which lead to cylinder 1 throwing a rod. researched this problems and found 1000's of other people with the same problem. purchased a replacement engine with 60,000 miles and the same thing is happening. no oil leaks, just uses a quart of oil/per 60 to 100 miles. nissan is aware of this situation and has replaced several engines. i see that they are now offering an extended warranty but does not wish to help. would like to participate in a class action lawsuit if one has begun. *tr

Rough idle. 3 years ago it did the same thing and i had the 0'2 sensors replaced and the crankshaft position sensor replaced. i drive it in town so in the 3 years i have put about 25,000 miles on it. the service engine soon light is on now and nissan told me that i need to take it to a dealership and pay them to check out the engine and send nissan the results and they "may" reimburse me for the cost of checking it out. i just replaced the spark plugs last week because i was told them needed replaced. it ran fine for a little while now back to same things. i have noticed that it leaks a little oil, about the size of a nickel over the course of 2-3 days. there is also oil round the crankcase. wondering why might be. thanks *tr
Motor mounts failed. replaced rt front in 2011. replaced front and right in june 2012, now i am told all 4 need replacing 6 weeks after replacing two. *tr
Premature transmission failure x2. *tr
After driving in stop and go traffic on a very hot day, the clutch pedal lost pressure and was very difficult to use and shift gears. the pedal lost all but the last amount of pressure. this has happened multiple times since the first incident. always occurs in warm, humid weather and heavy usage. could be very dangerous if all pressure is lost and shifting is impossible. this must be corrected! *tr
Was driving at about 45mph when the engine stalled as i was about to take a turn. the steering locked up, and i had to brake hard to avoid going off the road. luckily there was no fatal injury. had to get car towed to dealer where they replaced the crankshaft, cam sensor. *tr
