Driving legal speed on interstate highway 59 south from meridian ms to slidell louisiana. car started using oil every 20 miles. i have taken vehicle to nissan dealer on 3 different occasions. it ws determined that the engine and catalytic converter is bad. i have contacted nissan north america to ask for them to repair under recall #03v084000. this recall states that the catalytic converter will cause engine damage. nissan declined to fix my car. i contacted the better business bureau and they did not help. i don't know what to do next. *tr

Due to faulty cat converter which nissan failed to replace the engine is burning oil excessively due to debris from cat converter going inside the engine. roughly at around 100k miles car needs new cat converters and new engine block. this issue is very famous among 2002-2006 altimas and nissan is well aware of this. the oil indicator fails to inform the driver of pretty much zero oil in engine and this creates a catastrophic damage to engine which can result in fire. *tr

Multiple times while driving between 30-45 mph the vehicle has stalled and not produced full engine power when pushing on the accelerator. this has caused serious concern for the safety of my family and myself. check engine light came on and i took the vehicle to nissan service repair (august 2011, ~94k miles). nissan ran diagnostics and stated that the circuit board for crank/cam sensors had failed. paid $430 to replace crankshaft and cam/crank sensors. fast forward to december 2012 (~110k miles) where i experienced the same exact issues along with reduced engine power when pressing on the accelerator. another local mechanic detected that the cam/crank sensors needed to be replaced again. i did some research and found out about recall #03v455000, which describes the exact symptoms that i have been having. i called the nissan service department that replaced the sensors in 2011 who said that my vin wasn't included in the recall so i didn't qualify. after reading the complaints on this site for this specific year/make/model, it is beyond me how nothing hasn't been flagged about this being an issue. all these people are having the same problems (multiple times) yet they are told their vin's don't qualify under the recall?? something is fishy there. other complaints with the same exact issue include the following numbers: odi id numbers: 10416743, 10384742,10370526,10342438,10332467, 10318898, 10318045, 10314479, 10283487, 10278805. thank you for any assistance or light that can be shed on this issue. *tr

I had just bought my vehicle in march 2010 for $4200. a few weeks after i started to notice that the vehicle was burning through oil every few days. i took it to my mechanic and he stated it needed a tune up. a few days after the tune up i noticed it started to run rough on the highway on my way to work. while on the highway the car stopped running everything shut down, no power steering. i had to glide to the breakdown lane hoping and praying i would make it and not get hit. so i had the car towed to the mechanic who then told me that the motor was blown. i didn't have the money to fix it seeing as i had just bought the vehicle 6 months earlier. so i then parked the car in my driveway until i had the money to replace it($2000). once i was able to replace the engine 2 months later the check engine light come on again. i take it back into the mechanic and he tells me its the radiator. i replace the radiator ($200). a few weeks later the check engine light comes on again. the mechanic tells me its the catalytic converter and that he's done atleast three nissans in the past month with the same problem and that there is a recall and to contact nissan. he also told me that if i to drive the vehicle like that it would blow the motor again because that is what caused it to blow initially. after taking it to a nissan dealer they told me that there is not "open" recall on the catalytic converter just an ecm reset and the halogen light recall. they did tell me the catalytic gone due to a cylinder 2 misfire but that was not covered by them. i then called nissan directly and they told me that there was a recall previous for the engine and catalytic converter but it was not an open recall and they were not allowed to send me that information. if i wanted that information i would have to go through car fax. this was from their upper management. *tr

My vehicle suddenly stalled while traveling about 55 miles per hour. it was diagnosed as a bad camshaft sensor...the sensor was replaced. it works for a while then the same problem happened about 6 months later, then again about 6 months later and again 6 months later. in one case i only narrowly avoided a crash because my car stalled in the middle of a busy street. now 4 years later we have replaced the cam shaft sensor 6 times and have the same problem. my mechanic did research and found vehicle of my same make and model were part of a recall for this problem recall 01v357 and follow up recall 33411. nissan keeps telling me my car isn't affected. i seriously feel it should be. this is obviously the problem i am having. despite repeated calls to nissan they will not look at my car without charging me or consider adding it to the recall. my car is no longer operable because it stalls so violently, i am afraid i will crash and put my family in danger. please help! *tr

While driving on the street and about to turn the car suddenly stopped running while driving. since i was in the middle of a busy intersection, another driver came to help, he asked what happened, i said "i don't know". he got into my car, shifted to park and started it. weird i said, and forgot about the incident until months later happened again, then months later again, the "service engine soon" light never came on so even i took the car for service and asked about the issues, it was never detected, but i kept complaining to my mechanic every month, replaced batteries each year thinking i had a power problem. i learned about the real problem because this last time it happened on 07/03/12, the help came from someone who knows about cars and he told me about the recall on the crank & cam sensors. i took the car to the nearest nissan and, yes, that is exactly the problem with my car!. but they said because i didn't service and didn't buy the car from an authorized dealer and my car isn't on the "list" they won't fix it. the cost isn't the problem i told them, the fact the car came out of your factory defective should be your responsibility to correct it, never the less your responsibility to recall all units with the problem not just a few. i am taking the car to them to fix the problem right now and pay for the repair because i have a 4 months old baby and i don't want to be hit by another car when my car stops running in the middle of the street but i do want help and have them be responsible for reimbursing me on the cost of the repair and recall all and every single unit involved with this issue. nissan corporate (yes, i called them too) will not take any responsibility on the case either. *tr
