2008 mitsubishi lancer. consumer writes in regards to throttle body problems and other failure issues with vehicle. *smd the consumer stated the vehicle broke down and had to be towed to the dealer. they dealer cleaned the map sensor and throttle body and charged the consumer. the consumer stated the vehicle was still under warranty, and he shouldn't have been charged. mitsubishi stated the consumer would not have to pay for the cleaning, but he would have to pay for the towing charges. the consumer then learned from the dealer, the map sensor problem was a manufacturing defect. the consumer stated he experienced the problem on two other occasion, where the dealer had to send a mechanic out, to clean the map sensor because the vehicle had broke down and would not start. the consumer stated the problem has become worse, where the engine light stayed on 98% of the time and it would take 4-5 times before the vehicle would stop cutting off.
I was driving the car to my desired destination when all of a sudden the car started to smell like something was burning. when the passenger when to check, while we where waiting for the light to change, she noticed that fire was coming from under the hood. all we could do was get out of the car and take the kids out when the fire started to get bigger. a man who was near the place help controlling the fire with some extinguishers until the firemen arrived. when the firemen arrived at the scene, and manage to control the fire, they declared the car to be total lost.
