Driving at 30 miles an hour on city street. prepared to stop at stop light. the brakes did not respond, and the vehicle accelerated. the driver lost control of the vehicle within seconds was steered to the curb flipped and crashed on the roof of the vehicle. the vehicle was still racing after the vehicle crashed. the vehicle was totaled. driver and passeger were taken to the hospital and released with cuts and bumps.

I have replaced the pads and turned the rotors on a 2001 mitsubishi galant de to correct the problem with the car shimmying and poor braking ability. this corrected the problem for only 5,000 miles. i can see that i am going to have to replace or turn the rotors again and possibly replace the brakes. i have a friend who is having the exact same problem with his 2001 mitsubishi galant es. i have also talked to other owners who are experiencing the exact same problem. after i ahve found this web site i will refer them to write a complaint. this has been very frustraiting because there does not seem to be a resolution and the car is recently out of the warranty at only 36,000 miles. i would like to know if there are other people who are experiencing the same problems and if they have found a resolution ?*ak

The brakes and rotors were repaired three times since the vehicle was purchased. dealer stated that consumer was putting too much pressure on the brakes.*ak

At just after 48,000 miles on the 2001 mitsubishi galant es v6, the abs and traction control lights came on and stayed on while operating the vehicle. the brakes, which had recently been replaced, made loud echoing crunch noises. braking distance increased. the brakes had almost always been wobbly, even with newly machined rotors. also, front and side air bags did not deploy when vehicle rear-ended a tahoe on a different occasion. *jb

2001 mitsubishi galant ls v6 with 30,000 miles. has been in shop over 5 times. has been towed into shop once for not starting due to fuel injection problems. was diagnosed with defective side and passenger airbags, anti lock braking system. has serious steering vibration when driving. dealer told us it was only the tires and they overinflated my tires to solve the problem. problem has continued and has been occurring since vehicle had 15,000 miles and tires were properly rotated and balanced. concerned that vehicle poses serious safety hazards. *nlm

Brakes failed. the breaks began squeaking then they failed when trying to stop at a red light. slid into the intersection and caused an accident. this car saved my wife's life with the side impact airbags but also caused the wreck. the cars fluids are serviced regularly and had all fluids, the car just failed to stop. *nlm

Complaint: repeated problems with front brakes. rotors have needed to be resurfaced several times and now are unable to be resurfaced again and need to be replaced. continuous vibration of brake pedal and in steering wheel while braking. at times, entire car feels like it is shaking (passengers notice the vibrations through their feet on the floorboard). was involved in an accident in november of 2002 where i felt that if the brakes were operating as they should be, i would have been able to stop in time. dealer has not been contacted, although judging by the sheer number of complaints, i'm sure they are aware of the braking issues with the galant. please provide me with more information. i would love to get out of this vehicle without owing my first-born, as my first-born is due in november and i no longer feel comfortable driving this vehicle with the thought of an infant as a passenger.*ak

Brakes & rotors constantly have to be replaced. car was in an accident 3 times hit from the front and airbags never deployed. engine has stalled on several occasions. problem with horn fuse. high beams stopped working. when accelerating, sounds like engine is having problems getting gas. doesn't accelerated to well at all sometimes. *ak

There was a vibration and brake pulsation. the front rotors were inspected and were found warped. the dealer replaced the two front tires to eliminate the vibration in which the problem remained. the tires were changed 11 times in less than a year. the vibration remained and was most noticeable when the vehicle accelerated or on bends and remained throughout the range of driving speeds. the drive train was thought to be the problem per conrad's(service dealer). there also were dangerous fumes when the vehicle was started inside the passenger compartment, the fuel gauge had become inoperative, and there was premature rusting in the seams of the engine. *scc

Front brake rotors become warped every 5,000 to 8,000...this is the third set of rotors i have gone through since 2002. there is heavy vibration in the steering wheel when braking. i constantly have to keep having the rotors cut. mitsubishi said this is "normal".

Car doesn't always come to a complete stop when brakes are applied. *ak

The brake system causes vibration in the steering wheel and at the last several rotations of wheels a tremendous clunking occures it seems in the rear end of the vehicle. on hills the brakes tend to release and the car rolls forward several inches.*ak

Brake problems since the beginning. vibration when braking any speed, dealer couldn't locate the problem and pads where fine. withen a few months i replaced the brake pads and had the rotors turned, i still have the vibration problem. i;ve heard about a factory recall on the brakes but couldn't locate any information with an online search.*ak

After backing out of parking space i put the vehicle in drive and it started racing on its own i applied brakes but it just wouldn't stop ended up hitting 2 other vehicles.*ak

The brakes on my car have been giving problems ever since i bought the car. i change the front brakes at the request of the dealers and paid almost $300. the brakes still give problem, they brake very slowly, forever squeeking and give off a dark fibre to the rim of the car.*ak

Vehicle is just 9 months old, and was told that vehicle needed rotor turning. consumer had been complaining about handling of vehicle since purchasing it in november, 2000. *ak

Right rear tire hit hole or bump in parking. activated anti-lock braking for first time since buying car in 2001. lost steering control at same time. couldn't turn it. stopped before entering highway. put car in park; then drive and slowly took off. steering returned to normal. dangerous situation if i was in traffic or meeting another vehicle while attempting to exit parking lock. faint odor of fuel. no obvious leak on ground. *tr
