Recently reported STRUCTURE problems on 2009 Mazda Mazda6

The subframe on my 2009 mazda6 has been noticeably rusting over the years since i purchased the car from a mazda dealer as the original owner. over the previous year, mid 2016 to mid 2017, my mechanic had become increasingly concerned with the consequences that would come from the subframe rust and suggested we start documenting and referring the problem to mazda. the mechanic's concern was related to the decrease in strength of the subframe and its ability to continue to support the engine weight. his fear was that the engine would drop out of the bottom of the car onto the road after going over a bump on the highway. the mazda6 was brought into a mazda dealer in march and june of 2017 for service related to brake light and takata inflator recall. the problem with the rusted subframe was identified by the service mechanic during the second visit, june 1, 2017, and the service department noted on the service ticket "subframe rotted" and "car is not safe"(attached). the problem was also directed to mazda on their on-line complaint service. the original text to mazda is not available from me as this was an on-line form as this one is. the response from mazda (attached) was that there were no recalls for the subframe rust problem and that the warranty on the vehicle did not cover the subframe rust problem. it is unimaginable to me or anyone that i have presented this issue too, that a car with daily use and typical mileage would have a subframe that is results in a vehicle that is unsafe to operate after only 7-8 years.

The front engine cradle/subframe, lower control arms is rusted/corroded to the point that i was advised car would not pass inspection and that if parts failed, engine would fall under car and i could loose all steering/brakes. per request from mazda car was taken to dealer who confirmed extent of corrosion. this corrosion did not happen in an instant after warranty but started and continued to worsen during warranty period. only saw this when non-dealer was putting new tires on car and noted extent of corrosion.

Tl* the contact owns a 2009 mazda 6. while the vehicle was at an independent mechanic, it was diagnosed that the engine cradle was defective due to severe corrosion and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for the repair; however, the parts were unavailable for the repair. the contact was informed by a mazda representative that this was a known failure with that particular model vehicle. the manufacturer was made aware of the issue. the failure mileage was approximately 220,000. the vin was not provided.

Horn has activated randomly for years now, the first instance occurring on or about july, 2013. i have brought the car into the dealership many times for this. each time they said the door latch was faulty and setting it off. i have had 3 door latches replaced with the most recent being done on 5/2015. in august 2016, the horn started activating randomly again. the dealership said that they found "codes" on the 3 door latches that were already replaced! clearly there is a defect somewhere with the door locks or its electrical components. this poses a severe safety hazard as a child can open the door lock and fall out when the vehicle is moving if the lock is not working.

Subframe rusted stright thru on the right support point. left support point had no rust at all.. approx 96000 miles on the car, and this rust was found by my mechanic after replacing the neutral safety switch..the rust is hard to detect because the plastic covers , that cover the subframe.

Rubber around small rear window, not the one that opens, has lost most of the rubber. noticed this while washing the vehicle. the remaining rubber did not seem dry rotted but it pulls out easily and significant amount is already missing.

Tl* the contact owns a 2009 mazda 6. while driving approximately 5 mph, a loud banging noise emitted from the front of the vehicle. the contact discovered that the front passenger side wheel well rusted and caused the suspension to fail. the cause of the failure was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 190,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2009 mazda 6. the contact stated that the dashboard on the vehicle started to melt. the vehicle was taken to the dealer but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the dealer stated there was nothing that could be done outside of replacing the entire dashboard. the failure mileage was 104,344.

My passenger side dashboard is literally melting. mazda admits to having put a defective piece in my model vehicle however will not take responsibility and replace their faulty piece. they claim if it is a safety hazard there would be a recall..well there needs to be! i live in south florida and the sun reflecting off of the dash is flat out blinding and dangerous not to mention god knows what materials leaking into my air vents that my entire family is breathing in, being potentially hazardous. i don't think the national highway traffic safety administration should allow mazda should wait for accidents to occur and people to potentially get injured to take responsibility for this issue and fully replace the dash piece in the affected models. this issue has been called to the attention of the public in numerous news segments and online articles meaning hundreds of thousands of people are having the same issue and their lives could be in danger. a recall needs to be issued as soon as possible! *tr

My 2009 mazda 6 also has a melting dashboard, causing a glare on the windshield. *tr

I see several complaints about a melting dashboard. the dashboard, especially on the passenger side has a softish material that almost melts when parked in outdoor under sun even for few minutes. in such a condition if i touch this part of dashboard it crumbles into pieces. it is almost impossible to always park under roof and this material used seems to be of very low quality. cost of fixing is unknown. *tr

Melting dashboard. *tr

The dashboard of my 2009 mazda 6 is melting. it has become extremely sticky and shiny. the condition causes a glare on the windshield that can interfere with visibility. in addition, the dashboard deterioration is causing an oily film to build up on the entire inside of the windshield. the film has to be cleaned off frequently and is very difficult to completely remove. ordinary window cleaners just smear it. the film interferes with the driver's ability to see in afternoon sun. i contacted mazda and they are aware of the problem. after i had it documented at the dealer, mazda agreed to pay for the part but would not pay for the cost of the labor, which is estimated at approximately $500. *tr

Melting dashboard on my mazda 6. i'm very unhappy about this. a recall needs to be made. *tr

My dash is melting on the passenger side. it's about a 10 inch section. it sticky and soft. it rubs off when touched. i've done some research and it appears there are a lot of people experiencing the same thing. i'm sure they will claim it's the armour all but i used that stuff very rarely and if it was something i have applied, it would be melting all over. it has to be a defect on mazdas part. i did email them but haven't heard back yet. *tr

I purchased the car at delray mazda in 2011. i immediately purchased a dashmat to protect the dashboard from cracking or fading. i saw a segment on the news about other owners of mazda, nissan and etc. that has a cracking, sticky dashboard as well. i was advised to contact you. my dashboard is sticky underneath the dashmat and in the area of just above the glovebox, the dash is falling off in clumps. it is a black cushiony material that is falling apart and also cracking where the dashmat doesn't reach. the dash is also very sticky as well. i will contact the dealership and mazda but would like this resolved. *tr

Dashboard is melting and becoming shinny and sticky. *tr

My car alarm had been going off sporadically for about a year or more (maybe once a month), but it got progressively worse to the point that it would go off 3-5 days a week. i'd had my door latches inspected at the end of 2013 for a recall that although it wasn't electrical in nature, electrical issues could develop if it's not repaired. so, i was not expecting there to be any issues with them, but was surprised to learn that not one but both of my rear door actuators were defective. after getting that fixed the very day i picked up my vehicle from getting repairs i noticed my passenger side dashboard was shiny, and appeared to have been polished. i later learn that look actually came from the dashboard melting. now i have melting toxic material, that also can cause a glare, in my vehicle. *tr

The dash board is melting. it is sticky and there's seems to be nothing to do about it. i checked on recalls for the dash, but did not find any. i have had cars here is south florida for 40 something years....never had a problem like this. why is it not recalled? *tr

I just recently got this car. i am making payments on it. i noticed my dashboard melting and now its so bad that there is a glare in the middle of windshield. i cant see through it at times. and the material from the dashboard is melting now in drip lines down the dash. it is ugly and is ruining anything that touches it. kids try to dig holes in the dashboard and i'm scared that they might try to consume the goo that comes off the melting spot. my lawyer has informed me to file a complaint. i need a replacement dashboard as soon as possible. please help. *tr

The dashboard of my mazda is melting. the dashboard is shiny and sticky with a terrible glare. it looks like it is wet, but it is really gooey. i am worried the airbags may deploy prematurely or not at all. the damage to the dashboard is getting worse. i feel this is inferior workmanship and or materials and should be placed under recall. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2009 mazda 6. the contact indicated that the dashboard was deteriorating. the contact noticed that there was a sticky substance leaking into the front passenger side near the windshield, the front driver side window, and the floorboard. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified. the approximate failure mileage was 36,000.

The passenger side of my dashboard is melting. it is only occurring on the section closest to the window and for about 12 inches. i have tried to keep the windows open, use heat barriers/shields etc. it is even wet and gooey when the ac is on and i am driving. i have read that the plastics etc that are used in vehicles can emit cancerous odors/vapors/etc when they overheat. can this issue please be investigated as after reading the complaints this is a robust problem that can affect the safety of many people! *tr

The passenger side dashboard is literally melted to the point where the car is unsafe to operate during the day due to the reflection on the windshield. this is very unsafe and needs to be recalled! i have never seen or heard of a vehicle doing this and i'm appalled that the dealer has yet to remedy this issue. *tr

Driver side front door would not latch, inspected to find all three door latch mounting screw were missing, and the door latch was falling down inside the door. very dangerous, and i was stranded in a parking lot with a driver door that could not be latched. *tr

The rod to the door handle inside the front passenger door fell in due to the recall that happened back in december 2013. the recall only replaced screws on the part that was still in the door. it did not cover the part that fell in because the screws fell out that hold the piece in. the door will not open from the outside without the rod attached. this is due to the first recall. we had no idea the screws fell out until the door would not open from the outside and we examined it. it should of been part of the original recall. this could create a situation where if there is an accident or issue and the passenger is not aware of what is going no one from the outside would be able to open the door to get them help or get them out. this should be a new recall. this should of been covered in the original recall and paid for by mazda to fix. *tr

Driver side front door would not latch upon entry to the vehicle. inspection showed that all 4 screws were missing from the latch mechanism. inspection of the other 3 doors showed that up to 3 of the 4 screws were missing from them. every door had at least 1 missing screw. *tr

Front drivers side would not close. upon checking all the screws holding the latch were missing.

When i tried to get into my car the door got stuck and only open about 2 inches. when i finally opened it and got in the car the door would not close. when i checked it i realized that all 3 screws were missing and the door latch had shifted. *tr
