Headlight harness comes loose frequently, resulting in loss of headlight. must either hit the headlight forcefully or manually secure headlight by removing wheel well. hundreds of people on youtube have reportedly experienced the same defect. uncertain whether this occurs while stationary or moving, but imagine vibration from motion will knock it loose again. this photo was taken after manually adjusting the right headlight via the harness in order to turn it back on. the right light is dimmer than the left, suggesting a ground issue.

Takata recall - assured by dealer parts for recall in stock. dealer kept me there, without having the parts, for hours while searching for billable work. suggested $759 - $1059 unrelated service. careful post-visit analysis indicated no suck service needed. now i'm wary of returning for recall or any other reason. heritage mazda catonsville md 21228 invoice #5mcs115194.

2009 mazda 6. consumer writes in regards to various safety recalls issued for this vehicle. *ld the consumer stated after the air bag sensor was replaced, but the airbag light remained illuminated. it was reprogrammed , but the failure recurred. the doors and windows would lock, leaving occupants trapped in the vehicle nor would the vehicle start. the horn would malfunction. the horn relay was taken out due to the horn unexpectedly sounding off. the manufacturer was made aware of the failures, but did not offer any assistance. the vin number was invalid. updated 08/23/2017*js

Horn has activated randomly for years now, the first instance occurring on or about july, 2013. i have brought the car into the dealership many times for this. each time they said the door latch was faulty and setting it off. i have had 3 door latches replaced with the most recent being done on 5/2015. in august 2016, the horn started activating randomly again. the dealership said that they found "codes" on the 3 door latches that were already replaced! clearly there is a defect somewhere with the door locks or its electrical components. this poses a severe safety hazard as a child can open the door lock and fall out when the vehicle is moving if the lock is not working.

Tl* the contact owns a 2009 mazda 6. the contact smelled a strong burning odor inside and outside the vehicle. after entering the vehicle, there was evidence of an electrical fire. the fire department responded; however, there were no visible flames. the entire interior of the vehicle was covered with soot and smoke. the vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was dectected that the harness connector wires underneath the driver's seat were burnt and the fuse box overheated. the vehicle was repaired. neither a fire nor a police report were filed. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 110,000.

I bought a used car with 2 dashboard light tmps & engine the dealer give me extra warranty but never been repair furthermore i find out by myself a recall for the outer door handles after the door open while i driving in the express way this happened to my youngest daughter; and in other 2 incidents the car do not respond with the appropriate speed causing me a big chance of accident afterwards it is happened again so due to other several mechanic problems and for security i have to decided to return the car now i have no money no car and a big problem i am having hardly time tried to summit my concerns because i think the dealers are responsible for sale security cars before the sale but apparently the laws are in the dealers side as a consumer i hope maybe some one can see how this irresponsible dealers play with the consumers safety. i pay over $3,000 in repairs by my self and i have been around 90 days with out car and all this problems in a period of time of 26 months plus my payments to the dealer that was $460,00 a month this issue start on 12-6-13 to 02-26-16 after the car need a new repair at cost of $3,000 so in the reality this company was negligent when they fail to properly repair the car since the beginning they just pretend to fixed but wasn't . i want to thank you for your time. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2009 mazda 6. during higher humidity temperatures, the vehicle's alarm randomly activated. the contact was unable to determine if this issue would affect the air bags. the dealer was notified of the failure several times and was unable to provide a specific diagnosis to provide a permanent remedy. the dealer indicated that the vehicle received a manufacturer's repair for an unrelated failure. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 30,000.

The panic alarm has been going off every week at least once or twice. this happens a lot in the evenings between 8pm and 11pm. it'll go off by itself for no reason at all. this happened another time last year, but only once. now, it's happening every week and it's pretty annoying. i've read on other forums where people are having the same problem. i'm afraid this is going to kill my battery soon.

The pressure or heat coming from muffler burnt back part of vehicular i am paying 1400.00 in wire repairs. air bags recall, scars me don't have another car.the passenger door air noise escaping, melting dash board, alarm system goes of everyday up to 3to 4 times. tire pressure, and engine light on.

I returned to my vehicle after work and the vehicle was dead except for the remote keyless entry and lights. the vehicle would not start and there was no accessory or on power. the dealer stated that the steering wheel lock and push button start had malfunctioned. i was quoted a repair bill of $1,660, which includes more than $1,000 in parts (parts numbers gs3m-66-15xd and gsyd-67-5dzg ). these are basic systems that failed after only 31,000 miles of use on a vehicle that was maintained very well. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2009 mazda 6. the contact stated that the horn activated along with the door actuators failing intermittently. the contact used the key fob to turn off the alarm but it failed to remedy the failure. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer. the technician replaced the door actuator for the drivers side door. however, the failure recurred. the vehicle was taken back to the authorized dealer who indicated that the front drivers side and the rear drivers side door actuators needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 65,000.

The car's alarm system would be triggered randomly. in a period of 3 weeks it happened around 15 times. it ended up draining the car battery once. the alarm is on for few seconds and then it stops by itself. upon taking it to the mazda dealer they said it is a problem with door's electrical system and they had to replace the switches in all 4 doors. they were able to solve the problem, but i doubt if it is related to the recall that was made last september for fixing the door's latch system. the dealer had fixed the same just a back month. *tr

My car alarm had been going off sporadically for about a year or more (maybe once a month), but it got progressively worse to the point that it would go off 3-5 days a week. i'd had my door latches inspected at the end of 2013 for a recall that although it wasn't electrical in nature, electrical issues could develop if it's not repaired. so, i was not expecting there to be any issues with them, but was surprised to learn that not one but both of my rear door actuators were defective. after getting that fixed the very day i picked up my vehicle from getting repairs i noticed my passenger side dashboard was shiny, and appeared to have been polished. i later learn that look actually came from the dashboard melting. now i have melting toxic material, that also can cause a glare, in my vehicle. *tr

Driving through a tunnel my car began to fill with smoke. i pulled over and looked for where the smoke came from and found the switch to my heated seats was on fire. my car would no longer turn on. repair man at dealership says it's something that just happens i guess. somewhere something shorted. i'm just glad my child was not in the car when this happened. beware!! there are current recalls for the exact make and model in australia and europe for the same issue. i'm still waiting for the us the issue a recall so i can get my money back.

2009 mazda6. consumer writes in regards to automatic unlock button malfunction. *smd the consumer stated within the last year, the automatic unlock button inside the vehicle, suddenly stopped working, and in fact did the opposite of what it was supposed to do. when the unlock button was pressed, the entire vehicle automatically locked, and at times, would not release the lock, even manually. it would take many attempts at perfect timing to select the unlock button while opening the door in order to be able to get out of the vehicle. the automatic lock button functioned as it should, locking all doors. in other words, both the automatic lock and unlock buttons only locked the doors. the consumer stated she was locked inside the vehicle on several occasions, until she was able to get the door to release. the dealer identified the problem as the body control module for the locks. however, they could not offer a guarantee that the new body control module would not have the same problem, as mazda acknowledged a problem with the part.

My car alarm kept going off several times a day for months for no reason. i brought it into the dealership and they found that i had a bad door latch. could have been a safety issue if door could have come open while driving. warranty was up so i had to pay all costs to replace. *tr

Door lock actuator has failed!***the alarm on my mazda goes off at random periods of time. sometimes its once a week and sometimes is 5 times a day or night. i have reviewed several internet forums and it appears that there are a lot of people with the same problem but they have not created a complaint on this website. the remedies that they have found to have the dealer replace a door actuator that is faulty. this door actuator locks the doors and if when it fails to properly lock the door it will intermittently sound the alarm. the alarm is not so much the concern as much as the door lock actuator. it if fails to lock it creates a safety hazard for people as they are driving down the road the door could accidentally be opened. children could open the door and fall out of the car as it is failing. please look into this issue as it is a safety concern. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2009 mazda 6. the contact stated that the dashboard was melting. as a result, the sun caused a glare which impaired the contact's vision. there was also a sticky substance present. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the contact also stated that the vehicle's alarm activated randomly. the failure recurred multiple times. the vehicle was taken to a dealer for diagnostic testing. the mechanic stated that the rear driver side door failed to close and the door latch was replaced. the failure recurred and the front passenger side door latch was replaced. the contact was made aware of nhtsa campaign number: 13v425000 (latches/locks/linkages); however, the vin was not included. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 40,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2009 mazda a6. the contact stated that while traveling 25 mph, the horn souned whenever a left or right turn was made. there were no repairs completed on the vehicle. the manfucturer was not notified. the failure mileage was 40,000 and current mileage 70,025.

When ac or heat was on at any speed, it would run for a few mins. then stop blowing out air before slowly dying out. it would make noise like it was trying to work again, but then wouldn't. took it to mazda dealership. they did "test on ac/hvac system & found faulty control head due to electrical failure." they installed a heater control & the problem was fixed for a while. 3 months later same thing happened again. this time i was told the "hvac blower motor was tripping out on internal thermal overload" so they replaced the hvac blower motor. while that was getting fixed, i also had them look into another problem i was having. the tcs/dsc light would stay lit for 10-15 mins after i started my car and sometimes would just randomly come on while driving. the dealership did test & found "code c0034 - right front wheel speed sensor signal rate out of range & c0027, c0048 - right front wheel speed sensor circuit open, tech monitored sensor & found internal sensor failure. corrected by anti-lock brake system. installed gs3l-43-70x: right front abs sensor."

There seems to be an issue with the low beam headlight assemblies in the 2009 mazda6 vehicles. i have had both low beam headlights go out on me on two occasions while driving down the road. once both lamps needed to be replaced, the second time banging on the light cover got them to work again. i was told by the service manager at mazda to just bang on the light cover with my hand and it should come back on. the driver side headlight goes out often and to get it to come back on i have to bang on the light cover. i've put about 12 bulbs in the car. you find similar incidents on the web in mazda forums. also, you can see from the comments of a youtube video a friend of mine posted, it's common: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uqqperresa8 mazda says the headlights are working just fine and that there is no issue. i have never had to be told to bang on the light to make it work again bu a service technician. if it's that common, there is an issue.
