Occasionally (4 times now) when stopping or starting out (foot on brake, car in drive) the accelerator races full throttle, like i stomped on accelerator, for a few seconds. i have to press on the brake full force and/or put it in neutral. scarey!!! called dealer, but was told they were not aware of any problems. no offer to check it out. emailed mazdausa on jan2 but no response other than automated response showing they received my email. took it to repair shop to check for codes - no codes.

Tl*the contact owns a 2009 mazda mazda5. the contact stated that the gear shift selector was able to be move independently without the brake pedal being depressed. the vehicle was taken to the dealer who was unable to duplicate the failure because the failure would only occur sporadically. the manufacturer was not contacted nor was the vehicle repaired. the failure mileage was 46,280.

Drivers side floormat retention hole separates after < 5000 miles allowing mat to move forward so that clutch pedal catches on mat. when clutch pedal released it picks up the mat so that next time the clutch is pedal is pressed the mat also catches on the brake pedal causing unexpected braking. *tr
