The transmission in my 2001 mazda 626 i4 has failed twice. the first time it failed at 118,000 miles while i was accelerating from a stop at a intersection almost causing an serious accident with the cars behind me. after having the transmission rebuilt for 2k the transmission failed again at 120,000 miles while accelerating from a stop at an intersection on a uphill slant and almost caused a major accident with the cars behind me as i backed the car down the hill to the curbside. ford needs to recall these horrible cd4e transmissions. i have had the transmission rebuilt again and the certified transmission shop tells me ford has redesigned the drum for these transmissions (the part that failed both times) and they only release them 1 at a time from the ford factory to transmission shops to avoid a recall on the previous design which failed all of their cd4e transmissions prematurely. this is very poor customer service on fords part and they should stand behind their product and not hide from their failures while sticking it to their costumers. i will not buy another ford product again. *tr

Transmission problems with a code of p1744. dealer advised to go for rebuilt one and charged me over $3000 with taxes. i think mazda should take some responsibility looking at so many other incidences that i found on the web. *tr

My 2001 mazda 626 has had two transmissions installed and now installing the third one @104000 miles first time the overdrive light flashed and would not shift into the proper gear at 53000 miles we had to fight with mazda north america for several weeks to take care of it. also wheeler mazda in yuba city did not help or care witch the car was purchased at new. i have had the car serviced at the dealer for all recommended service. now the second one just went out @ 104000 miles and the mazda rep for mazda north america will not help at all. the cost to repair this one is2,900 dollars. i have 3 children and one on the way. this is not what i expect from a new car that has been well taken care of. the axles went out @ 70000 miles the stereo went out 2 times in the first month. the 2nd transmission started squeaking for about 10 minutes then the transmission just quit. thanks. *jb

I bought a brand new mazda 626. at about 13,000 miles, the transmission went out. i reported the problem and mazda replaced the transmission with a new one. at about 33,000 miles, the transmission went out again, and they replaced it with a new transmission. at about 55,000 miles, the transmission went out again, and mazda told me that it was no longer their problem since the transmission was no longer under warranty. they said that since they replaced my transmission, it was only warranted for one year, and since my original warranty had expired, there was nothing that they would do. *tr

I bought a mazda 626 2001 in october 2005. in january of 2006 (4 months later) the transmission blew up. tranny fluid was every where and there was a hole in the tranny it's self, i was stranded. thankfully i purchased the extended warranty, and the factory warranty covered the cost. again. less than a month and a half, i have the same problem. i took it back to the transmission shop and they told me that if was a 'wear and tear" problem. i then took it to the original dealer and the informed me that it was the transmission mounts that caused it to slip. the dealer again sent it to their contractor...the same ones that 'fixed' it before. needless to say i have come to my ends trying to fix my car. i rely on my car for transportation to get not only myself to work, but also my nephew to daycare, and my mother to work. if you could please help me get resources, or help me resolve my problem i would greatly appreciate it. thank you for your help. i hope to hear from you soon. *nm

I have had my 2001 mazda 626 for 3 years. there is only 69,000 miles on this car, and now my transmission needs to be replaced. there is an obvious problem here. mazda should have this problem with these vehicles recalled. i do not feel that consumers should be held responsible with the expense of replacing the transmission after a car being only 4 years old. *ak

1)car was jerking, transmission was reving on my 2001 mazda 2)took it took the dealer after i broke down, said the transmission was bad & needed to be replaced. 3)transmission was replaced twice, but still having transmission problems. *ak

My 2001 mazda 626 automatic transmission has burnt-up twice with a total of 90k miles. the problem seems to be well documented with this model and i want to know what the manufacture is going to do about it. the first failure was replace by mazda and the secound appears to be my responsability even though i've only logged 50k on the replaced tranie. i have performed all the maintenance and each time i have them look for the problem the answer is always the same until it fails; it's normal for this car! the other answer is to buy the extended warranty which is a waste considering they already know of the problem and the fix. i'm tired of having to pay to fix a problem that's stranded me on the highway, caused traffic jams and towing fees and left me with a car that costs me more in repairs then it's worth.

Purchased auto in july 2001. i drive a great deal and took my car religiously in for service to the dealer. upon getting an oil change at about 30k miles i had to get my engine replaced due to a defective oil filter. transmission (clutch pak) burned out at 100k miles. no help from mazda. they actually had my car for over a month and wanted me to pay another diagnostic fee for hooking the car up to the machine. no estimate was given. mazda associates constantly were unavailable and hung up on me many times.

Automatic transmission burnt out! car was towed to workshop and remanufactured transmission needed to be put in cost $3100. was little over 3 years from purchase date, therefore was not covered under warranty. the problems did not stop there, in about 50 days, "check engine" light came on... took it to the same place who worked on the transmission. technician reported new problem unrelated to automatic transmission, new service cost $500. the car cost me big $$$ in maintainance.... don't know if this is the end of the problems... mazda 626 owners watch out!

I have a 2001 mazda 626. the over drive light began to flash, within 15 minutes i was at the dealer. i need a new transmission. my car is not showing any signs of failure. the light keeps flashing. i put an external transmission radiator and the light has not turned on. i have to replace my brakes 4 times in six months. they say it is my driving. how can this be? once it took them a week to put brake pads. that monday they said it needed rotors and did not have the parts. that friday i picked up my car and they said it did not need rotors after all!!! they rented me a car, 2 months later my credit card was charged for the weeks rental. besides this the national city mile of cars wescott mazda-kia dealer are sexist and discriminate against women. the customer service guy (tom) called me an ass and never apologized even after i told his boss. *la

The electric system seems to be defective, because always something related to it is out of work. frequently it is reflected in the air conditioning. for instance, the last time the air condition (a/c) was repaired, that repairman left the claxon and the rear defrost out of work. the a/c has been repaired too many times that it does not fit with a new vehicle. nowadays it is out of work again. i fear that next time is the lights to be off when just driving. in incident date, next data required in this scheme, i am putting the last repair in the dealer. *la

I have been having so many problems with my mazda 626 and it's a 2001. the times that i have taken it in the shop that would tell me that nothing is wrong with my car, but of course i know my car better i do drive it more than they have too. what i discovered just today is off the map funny(like something is not right), was dealing with my odometer reading. so if i can please allow me your help before my give out on me. thank you mrs. jackson

I've had numerous problems with this car since 03/2001. i purchased it new from marlin mazda. this car has stalled several times while driving. the sunroof and corner roof between the front windshield and driver door leaked water when it would rain. january 2003 my car ran hot, the air conditioning was not blowing.they said they replaced the head on my engine and that some hose was not connected, this is why my air wasn't blowing? my car stalled on me 08/27/03. no warning lights came on. the car wasn't even hot. towed to marlin mazda.i paid for new battery. i asked them to chaeck under hood to be sure no other problems, they told me at least $500 to check engine thoroughly? week later stall again. this time towed to ocean mazda, knocking noise under hood, they said it is the engine and oil pump. they tried to look up factory warranty, they're not repairing it because marlin mazda voided my warranty(marlin said sludge in engine/ code w8.) that was a lie! i have been getting scheduled maintenance on my car. ocean mazda checked engine no sludge but they can't do repair work without warranty. they tried to call district manager because code w8 does not exist!!! also, i have an extended warranty which they seem to have no record of? i have spoken to mazda american credit to get copies of loan papers that shows purchase of extended warranty. i guess the next step is a law suit. after all these headaches i don't even want this car anymore. i am already paying a high car note for extra coverage and they don't even have the descency to repair my car.

Consumer states that there are fumes coming from the a/c making the consumer sick. cause unknown. dealer notified.*jb
