I put my foot on the brakes, put it in reverse, and it just took off, across the street, where i ran into 2 buildings.
Seat passenger side airbag lumbar bulged out. air condition motor making whining noise. body rust. *tr
4 inches of rainwater in the rear passenger floor. via the net this is a common problem with all divisions of ford's luxury cars 1998 to 2007. youtube has several how to videos with 5,000 to 15,000 hits (keywords: lincoln town car water leak). the sheer number of video hits gives insight to how vast this problem is. the gasket that ford makes for these cars deteriorates. the leak starts slow and " mold spreads until someone sees inches of water in the rear passenger floor. my buddy followed repair video directions. now the right rear is nice and dry to the touch*. still waiting for the front to dry out*. now the drivers side front and rear floor is wet. my shoes are slipping off the brake and gas pedals. i've only seen a few videos with drivers side leaks. ford should recall all their luxury car models. mold and your foot slipping off of a brake could prove fatal. so far i've learned via the net that water enters via an o ring for speedometer and or hood open cable. next is google and yahoo. *i have no idea how much rust if any has occurred under my floor boards and if there is any chance carbon monoxide inhalation might be looming. i hear the only sure way to remove the water is to remove the seats then the entire carpet, attend to the rust if any and allow the carpets to sit in the sun for who knows how long. ford should recall these vehicles as far back as they made these cheap gaskets. it's as if the engineers designed the gaskets and o rings for an indoor use not giving any thought to outdoor elements and heat from an engine. the web links may give you a better idea of the problems that are building: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3uav0xj7zlk [15,000 views] how to fix rain leak news: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ce3tsywyl1i [news: water leaks and your health] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pg9hjfbj8j4 [left water leak]. *tr
Water accumulates on floor front and rear. passenger sidethe car can be in motion or stationary during rain or going through car wash. we had a 2001 towncar with the exact same problem. after googling this issue i find there are many autos with this problem. what we spend for these autos this should have been resolved by manufacturer years ago!
I was stopped and entering a turn. there was no ice on the pavement. as i turned left the car accelerated and the brakes became unresponsive. the car spun and hit a fire hydrant. this car at other times as suddenly accelerated, but i was always able to apply the brakes and it calmed down in a few seconds. *tr
