Tl* the contact owns a 2001 lincoln town car. while driving 45 mph, the vehicle began to lose power without warning. the failure occurred twice. the vehicle was pulled over to the road shoulder and was restarted after ten minutes. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 104,250.

Serious safety issue. no or intermittent exterior lighting at night. defective (lcm) lighting control module. ford recall called (customer satisfaction program) "14no1" indicates defective lighting control module controlling exterior headlamps, parking lamps, front side marker, rear tail, license plate lighting may be intermittent or inoperative. e-mail sent to all u.s. ford lincoln/mercury dealers referencing 2003 2004 2005 2006 model year crown victoria and grand marquis vehicles with an extended coverage period on this part of 15 years or 250,000 miles. current owned and operated vehicle is: 2001 lincoln town car built on the same platform with same internal parts. lighting control module is defective causing no or intermittent exterior lighting. approached ford dealer and was informed vehicle part was under factory recall. contacted ford lincoln customer service directly and was informed recall was vehicle vin specific and no further help or financial assistance will be provided. this unit is the same part used through the above-mentioned model year vehicles, but i cannot obtain any assistance. part is also obsolete and cannot be purchased through ford. the vehicle was parked during the first occurrence, now daily occurrence with intermittent or no exterior lighting. please help! *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2001 lincoln towncar. the windshield wipers, air conditioning and heater have failed. the speedometer sporadically fails. the abs light was consistently illuminated on the instrument control panel. the vehicle was taken to the dealership for inspection. the technician stated that the wipers needed to be replaced at his expense. no repairs were made. the current mileage was approximately 100,000. the failure mileage was approximately 89,000.

Last wed., nov. 8th., 2006 my lincoln towncar cartier died. when the tow truck came, he popped open the hood and noticed that a fuse had popped up. he pushed it down and the car strted. that same afternoon, it happened again, and i was able to fix it the same way. i had the car checked for electrical defects, as well as fuse problems and there were none. lithia in reno said that the terminals were loose under the fuse box, requiring a new one total cost: $1900.00 i am very distressed about this. this is a luxury car and it shouldn't be happening. i am afraid it will happen again. i feel that it is a manufacturer's defect and they should pay the expense. i have already spent over $100. of my own money. *nm

Tl*the contact owns a 2001 lincoln town car. the contact stated that the air bag warning light remained illuminated. the dealer stated that the wiring harness was defective and they made the replacement. approximately two months later the air bag warning light illuminated. the dealer stated that wiring harness should be replaced. the dealer made the replacement however the air bag warning light illuminated again approximately one month later. as october 9, 2007, the dealer had not repaired the vehicle. the failure mileage was 45,000 and the current mileage was 98,000. updated 01/02/08. *lj updated 12/12/07

While driving, the vehicle became engulfed in flames under the hood. the fire department stated it was a possibility that fire was caused by a short in electrical system. there was a fire report filed at the scene of the incident. *jb *cb *jb

Consumer stated when starting vehicle, the ignition will lock up, turning the steering wheel does not unlock it, vehicle has been taken to dealer 6 times, ignition was replaced once, but did not remedy the problem. *ak
