The brake light switch failed in the consumer's 1999 lincoln town car. *nm the brake pedal felt spongy. the shifter could not be moved into drive or reverse. the cruise control would not deactivate when the consumer pressed the brake, it had to be turned off manually. *nm *sb *nm

The consumer's vehicle has required multiple repairs to include ball joint replacement, turned rotors and idler arm replacement. the vehicle only has 70000 miles. *nm the cruise would not shut off without a near skid amount of braking, this would also occur because the shifter would not come out of the park position. *sc *jb

Vehicle was parked with engine off. when started, vehicle went approximately 10-14 feet. attempted to make a u-turn, and put foot on brake pedal, but there were no brakes. vehicle accelerated out of control. put vehicle in park and it continued to travel and hit a parked car in the rear, but continued to travel. finally vehicle was turned off and it stopped. upon impact , air bags failed to deploy. drive rsustained injuries, and vehicle was totaled. *ak
