The truck's transmission shutters, so the whole truck vibrates. this is a huge safety issue. it causes the truck to slow down and overdrive does not kick in. so you have to slow down and force the truck to shift. this is a 5.4 triton motor. i did change the plugs and coil packs. this job is not cheap. if you look at the ford forums i am one of thousands. if you shut the over drive off problem is fixed but you can't drive over 55 without toasting the motor and using a huge amount of fuel. it appears this happens very frequently. this should be a recall issue. http://m.carcomplaints.com/ford/f-150/2004/transmission/no_overdrive.shtml

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 lincoln mark lt. on several occasions, the accelerator pedal became stuck. on one occasion, while making a left turn into the driveway, the brake pedal was depressed, but the vehicle inadvertently accelerated. as a result, the vehicle crashed into the garage and a tree. the check engine warning indicator illuminated. the air bags did not deploy. the contact sustained a rib injury that required medical attention. a police report was not filed. the vehicle was towed to bob sight ford (610 nw blue pkwy, lee's summit, mo 64063, (816) 524-6550), but no diagnostic failure codes were found and the failure could not be replicated. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and did not assist. the approximate failure mileage was 57,000.
