We have classified the 2 complaints from 2005 Lincoln LS about TIRES into the following categories.
Lincoln ls '05 with eagle gt hr 225/55 16, numerous flat tires on all 4, some tires as many as three nails or screws. steel belts unable to resist puncture. all filled with slime now. lots of tread left. -won't balance, shudders at 70mph. -pulls to the left. tried alignments and swapping tires and wheels all around. no change. *tr
The left rear wheel/tire assembly failed to hold air. a local tire merchant said that this is caused by the chrome plating separating from the aluminum alloy wheel. the dealer and lincoln-mercury said that the failure was due to brake dust getting on the outside of the wheel. they claimed that this was not a defect in the product and refused a warranty claim. they were unable to explain how dust on the outside of the wheel could cause the surface inside the tire to fail and leak air until the tire was flat. *tr
Rear driver's tire sidewall ripped at 15 mph with 100 miles on 2005 lincoln ls. tire - continental contitouring p225/55r16 cv95, dot #act4 465b 1904 per continental, tire manufactured in columbus? on 19th week of 2004 appearance of the steel cord exposed in sideway appears very thin. dealer agreed to replace tire, but haven't gotten car to dealer yet. call to continental complaint center (1800-847-3349) resulted in a statement that the tire was not known to have any issues. my obvious concern is the safety of this tire but continental said there is no safety issue!!!
