When i drive approximately 35 miles, my 2002 lincoln ls wants to overheat and shut down on me. i have to wait till it cools down and then start it up and proceed on my way.
Tl* the contact owns a 2002 lincoln ls. while driving 60 mph, the vehicle accelerated independently. the brake pedal was depressed, but failed to stop the vehicle. the emergency brakes also failed to slow down the vehicle. the contact had to turn off the vehicle in order to slow down. the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified. the approximate failure mileage was 200,000.
Vehicle was coming to a complete stop at a traffic light. while decelerating from approximately 20-30 mph, the car suddenly surged forward with foot completely on the brake pedal. car had decelerated to approximately 5 mph when it suddenly accelerated. driver swerved to avoid the car stopped in front, but vehicle struck the other car in the rear. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2002 lincoln ls. while driving approximately 65 mph on normal road conditions the vehicle accelerated without intention, and then down-shifted. the driver was able to gain control and continue operation with caution. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for inspection. the technician stated the failure was contributed to the lower control arms and ball joints. the vehicle was being repaired for the malfunction. the failure and current mileages were 90,000.

Dt*: the contact stated while applying brake pressure, the accelerator pedal was also pushed which caused the vehicle to lurch forward and strike another vehicle from behind at 45mph. although there was a crash, no one was injured. the vehicle sustained minor damage. the police were on the scene and a report was taken. the vehicle was towed to the local dealer. the dealer determined the placement of the brake and accelerator pedals were accurate and suggested the crash was not due to any defect. the dealer could not duplicate the problem, no repairs were made concerning the brake and accelerator pedals.
My wife was stopped at a stop light and started to move up in traffic to close a gap between her and vehicle in front of her when the 2002 lincoln ls suddenly surged forward hitting the vehicle in front of her. brakes were applied but the vehicle continued to surge forward. she finally stopped the vehicle and then put the vehicle in reverse to back away from the vehicle in front of her. with her foot on the brake, the vehicle surged in reverse and hit the vehicle behind her. the vehicle sustained damage in both front and rear. vehicle was taken to lincoln dealership where they stated that the vehicles computer systems did not show a code. ford motor company was contacted by the vehicles owner. *jb

2002 lincoln ls exhibiting recurring brake system defects.*mr briefly, the warning lights for the brake system, anti-lock system and the advanced trac system illuminated under normal driving, which was followed by a hard brake with a severe pull to the side. the dealer found faulty ground wire caused a loss of battery voltage to the abs module, however the problem recurred while driving, the warning lights illuminated on the dash board, the vehicle made a hard turn to the right and a hard braking force was applied, the consumer had great difficulty trying to keep the vehicle under control, minutes later the engine shut off by itself and then restarted by itself, the dealer replaced numerous parts, but the problem recurred. also the cruise control failed to activate during normal highway driving. *jb
