Tl* the contact owns a 2006 toyota lexus is350. the contact received notification of nhtsa recall campaign id number: 05v565000 (vehicle speed control: accelerator pedal) in april 2010. he stated the closest authorized dealer that could make repairs to the vehicle was over 300 miles from his residence. the manufacturer was contacted and they advised they would contact him to determine if there was an alternative. as of june 2010, the manufacturer had not responded. there were no failures at this time. updated 7/20/10 *cn updated 07/23/10*jb
Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6) i own a 2006 lexus is 350. i have had two incidents of "unattended acceleration" but was fortunate that both occurred on the freeway and i was able to get the vehicle to stop accelerating. my question is this; i received a notice from lexus, about six months ago, that there was a problem with the vehicle; however they were going to let me know when they had a fix for the problem. i've called several times, the last time was this week 3-9-10, and was told again that they do not have a fix and i need to wait and they would let me know when to bring the vehicle in. this seems dangerous, and i would like to complain that lexus is not doing enough to either get me a replacement vehicle to drive until they fix the car, or fix it. Tl*the contact owns a 2006 lexus is350. the contact was driving approximately between 35-45 mph when the vehicle accelerated up to 90 mph without warning. the brake pedal was depressed to the floor with extreme force. the vehicle failed to slow down. immediately,the emergency brake was engaged and the vehicle slowed down. the front driver side floor mat was removed. an identical failure occurred on a separate occasion which resulted in the vehicle crashing into a tree. the contact did not report any injuries or state that a police report was filed. the manufacturer was notified of the malfunctions and confirmed that the driver side floor mat be installed in the vehicle. the authorized dealer recommended the floor mat not be installed. the contact received conflicting information from the dealer and manufacturer with uncertainty of the floor mat installation. the failure has not recurred. the failure mileage was 44,000. the current mileage was 65,000.
