The instrument cluster switched off after an automatic engine stop. upon release of the brake pedal, the car did not restart and driver exit conditions did not exist. after a full power down and manual restart of the ignition, the auto stop/start function no longer works. this is a fundamental electrical problem

While driving at approximately 10 mph in city traffic an error light indicating "gear box fault" appeared followed by numerous other warnings. the vehicle shut off and coasted to a stop. the vehicle was towed to the dealer for service, after 26 days in service and 80 miles driven by a service technician the dealer continues to tell me they have no idea what the problem is. they indicated that the computer reports indicate a major problem occured but they are unable to recreate it.
