An airbag malfunction light illuminated on my dash today. i scanned the car for stored faults and found several, but one in particular was for the passenger frontal airbag/seat. the fault code said there was improper serial data values received. the car has just crossed over 50,000 miles within the last month, however it is still within 4 years of purchase. since the mileage is over 50,000 miles, i was told by dealership there is no warranty left for the airbags. since this is a major safety feature, i believe this should be repaired at manufacturer's expense. the passenger side door lock also failed at the same time. i have attempted to resolve the issue by opening and closing the door, adjusting the seat position and fastening and unfastening the passenger seat belt but the light still remains on.
