We have classified the 2 complaints from 2006 Land Rover LR3 about SUSPENSION into the following categories.
Vehicle has approximately 65k miles and have been notified that the suspension air compressor must be replaced. this appears to be a very common problem. the dealer is unable to repair the vehicle at this time due to the part being on back order due to the number of vehicles needing this same repair. the compressors are obviously not the best quality with the elevated level of failures. hopefully the part comes in before a complete failure of the compressor. *tr
Uneven tire wear at 9000 miles. loud noise in cabin. i contacted the dealer to check the alignment as there is a tsb on this and was told "the goodyear tires are just not good" i have never seen a tire wear only on the inside edge because the tire is bad. looks related to the air suspension and toe to me. but they wont fix it, they told me to go buy new tires. i just paid 55k for the truck and 6 mos later they want me to buy good tires????
I purchased a 2006 land rover lr3 se in dec. 2005. it has approx. 13k miles and i was about to rotate the tires when i noticed that the inside tread on both rear tires had worn completely through exposing the steel belts while the outside portion of the tread was not worn at all. it appeared to have a significant camber misalignment on both rear wheels. it was so dangerous, i called roadside assistance to tow the vehicle instead of driving and risk blowing the tire on the way to the dealership. after dealer inspection the dealer agreed to pay only half the cost to replace the tires and said that factory camber settings would require us to replace all 4 tires approximately every 10k miles (every 6 months). they are charging me $769 for 2 tires - that would cost $1500 every 6 months!! i have contacted land rover usa to have them buy back my vehicle because this mechanical/safety issue was not disclosed to me at point-of-sale. i am awaiting response. i am making this complaint so that no one gets killed on the highway due to blowouts. in researching this problem, i found that countless others on the land rover forum experienced identical problems. *nm
My wife owns a 2006 land rover lr3. the vehicle is less than 1 year old, and the rear tires are bald. they have approximately 16,000 miles of use. this is clearly a problem with either the car or the tires, and the dealership acknowledged that it was a problem with the alignment of the vehicle. i am concerned because my vehicle was in for a regular service a month ago, and land rover neither mentioned the problem nor took any action to correct the defect. now that the tires are gone, land rover is fixing the problem and replacing the tires. my concern comes from the fact that the tires were worn enough to expose the material under the tread. the wear takes place on the insides of the rear tires, and so is not visible to a casual glance. if we had not noticed the damage when we did, i feel fairly certain that a blowout would have occurred. this is the kind of thing that needs to be prevented and can be prevented if the manufacturer is proactive. *nm
