Under normal usage two of the three rear seatbelts failed to release causing children to be stuck in seat. after seatbelts are freed from buckle they do not work correctly any more. new buckles have to be purchased which is difficult due to part availability. *tr

Dt*: the contact stated while driving on a wet road, the contact lost control and struck a parked vehicle at 35mph and the front seat belt buckle assembly unlocked. although the seat belt was properly locked, the buckle assembly released allowing the contact to sustain minor injuries. the vehicle was totaled due to the extensive damage. there is a nhtsa recall, # 04v305000, regarding the front seat belt buckle assembly. the vehicle has the same problems as indicated in the recall; however it is not included in the recall due to the vin. the police were contacted and a report was taken.

The seatbelt on my 2000 kia sportage on the driverside always opens. i feel this is very dangerous if i was ever involved in an accident. i do not trust the saftey belt will hold me if i ever had an accident. i weigh only 125 lbs.*ea04007*

Dt: the contact stated the rear middle seat belt will not latch. the manufacturer informed him the rear seat belts were not included in the recall he received. *ak

Seat belt catch device releases the clip and seat belt from holder approximately 75% of the time i put on my seat belt. i have not replaced as the item was not deemed necessary by dealer that wanted $375.00 for replacement. *jb
