Regarding nhtsa campaign #19v120000, i reported to kia that my vehicle is excessively burning oil, they've advised me my vin doesn't apply to this particular recall. in between oil changes i'm adding 5qts of oil because the oil is just mia. there's no leakage and no smoke from the vehicle. although i'm losing oil there is no warning light to advise of any issue. i can generally detect i'm low on oil when vehicle is sluggish on an incline, upon checking the dip stick has no oil. as a precautionary measure i'm requesting that my vin number be added to the current recall. last oil change was 01/03/2020; i just purchased a 5 quart container 02/15/2020 and had to add 2 quarts. my daily driving consists of about 16 miles a day; drive my daughter to school and myself to work, local. too many complaints pertain to this very issue, how much longer please?
I was driving down the road and as i was turning a corner the engine stopped. and would not start. it was towed home. when i tried to start it it turned over it and strtex. it soundex like metal bearings or metal hitting metal. tue whole motor is shaking. when i purchazed the vehicle i started noticing spots in my drive way but wasnt oil. when i looked under i noticed the cadallac converter had residue spots.. i have not taking it to rhe shop yet.
On 12 feb 2020, i was driving on hwy 75s in ga and lost all acceleration to the vehicle while surrounded by traffic. i was able to push the accelerator to the floorboard and had 0 rpms. pulled over and restarted the car it ran fine until i got off at my exit and started at a red light again no acceleration 0 rpms held my foot on the floorboard and it finally started to accelerate after about a minute. took the car to the sons kia dealership in mcdonough. dropped the car off had a diagnostic ran and was told they were unable to replicate the issue. immediately called kia hq to report the issue. guess i'll drive it till it fails completely.
Check engine light came on while driving took it to kalidy kia checked codes did an up grade of cataylic software upgrade found faulty cataylic converter the dealership kept my car no i have no transportation
While driving on the interstate at highway speed. approx 70-75 mph. the engine made a rattling noise and suddenly lost power. was able to coast to side of interstate and get off the road. car was towed and checked by mechanic. complete engine failure and rod thrown through bottom of engine. car was well maintained with regular oil changes. no warning lights ever came on. car to this point was always very reliable and never had any issues.
Took my car in to have oil changed before it was even due and it didn't even register in the oil dipstick. they changed oil i checked it about 2 weeks later and it was half full, later the next day i checked it and said it was low. i have no oil leaks, so itnis brining oil for no reason. taking to mechanic this week
Vehicle lost power while driving engine light came on steering wheel got hot
Engine- 2017 kia soul 2.0 l 4-cyl. mileage at the time of purchase 42,788. mileage at failure was 89,144. usage predominately hwy miles. at the time of failure, we owned the vehicle 19 months. regular oil changes with castrol gtx and edge 100% synthetic 5w20 oil. february 02, 2020 my wife started the day driving away from home. the outside temperature in the 60's and sunny. drove 4.5 miles traveling 45mph on a straight level city roadway in heavy traffic. she could have been rear-ended or when turning off the roadway with loss of power t-boned trying to exit the roadway in an emergency. there is no breakdown lane or enough ground on the side of the roadway to pull off. all of a sudden, for no reason, the engine lost power and made a knocking sound. she checked the instrument panel, no warning lights. temperature gauge read normal. within seconds, she pulled into a parking lot and turned off the motor. no visible signs of any damage on the exterior of the motor or underneath the vehicle. we are the second owner of this vehicle. manufactures initial transferable warranty expired. we towed the vehicle to our regular ase certified ...
I was already planning on getting my oil changed on the first of february, even though i still had a few hundred miles left. but the day before, my oil light kept flashing on and off. mostly when it was idling. i checked my oil levels mid day during lunch, and all seemed okay. well i was driving 3 miles from my house to church friday night, january 31, and as i was driving, just getting up to about 50-55 mph, i heard a loud bang and felt my car jolt. made it safely to the side of the road and called a tow truck. after the jolt, my battery light came on. never saw a check engine light. the tow truck driver was not able to start the car and told me that my oil was low. the following day when my dealership checked through everything, they told me that my engine had seized and i need to get a new engine. this seems to be a reoccurring problem with this car year and model. i have a little under 110,000 miles.
Update to complaint files 31 jan, 2020. 2015 kia soul with 72004 miles was towed to a repair facility. upon evaluation, mechanic stated that the piston/rod had fractured and the piston was force into the head. total engine replacement will be required as the block and heads were severely damaged. this is the exact failure mode that has been described on other kia soul vin numbers. previous event description:seventeen year old daughter driving home from school in 2015 kia soul, wednesday, 29 january 2020. midway going up a steep hill on a major busy highway, the car engine stopped which left her in the right hand lane of a four lane highway. highway 64, fayetteville, tn, lincoln county. this highway is a major route for large tractor trailers. daughter turned on emergency flasher and exited the car for safety. several people came by and helped push the car to the side of the road. this part of the highway has a small shoulder with guardrails due to the step drop off. internet research describes other kia vehicles with the exact engine failure symptoms that resulted in numerous recalls. ...
