Check engine light came on while driving took it to kalidy kia checked codes did an up grade of cataylic software upgrade found faulty cataylic converter the dealership kept my car no i have no transportation
Vehicle lost power while driving engine light came on steering wheel got hot
85k miles 2016 kia soul. turning from a stop into slow oncoming side street traffic, loss of acceleration power. rpms to 4, slight rev, but no power. could not go over 20 or so mph. slight low rattle when pulled over (within 2 blocks of issue). oil light flicker. ran 'fix'd' diagnostic. nothing. drive slowly 4 or so more miles to destination. oil light flickered upon arrival. ran diagnostic again after parking. camshaft position timing sensor pulls up. checked oil. low. filled oil. next morning drive 1 more mile to aaa approved shop. they do not mention camshaft sensor. they say oil pressure low even with oil, engine about to seize up. knocking sound loud after their assessment and however long they drove it. i looked online and saw several mentions of kia souls with less mileage and same problem - loss power. engine quitting. no check engine light ever came on. oil light only flickered when parking, and car was topped with oil within 4 or so miles of this. no oil leaks evident. car was up to date on maintenance and oil changes at recommended schedule.
While driving my 2016 kia soul going approx 60mph my car sort jerked like it was gonna stall but didn't stall instead flashed the oil light symbol several times and then the check engine light came on. i pulled over just in time for the car to stall on the side of the hwy and the car was making a rattle sound under the engine when cranked so i left it off. the next day i towed it to a kia dealership and was advised that the engine needed to be replaced due to a rod coming loose in the engine which would cost upwards of $6500-$7000. which is half of what i owe the bank on the car upon doing some online research i see that well over 616,000 other cars like mines have reported the same issue and kia has recalled the 1.6 liter engine but not the 2.0 liter engine in my car. with all their cars having the same exact issue kia needs to recall all of these faulty engines and fix them free of charge. further research stated that the manufacturer of these engines has had recalls of their engines in kia's and hyundai's since 2012 and there are several class action lawsuits from angry customers. please issue a recall.
In motion going about 50 miles per hour when vehicle made a kind of crackling noise and felt a slight sputtering like it was going to stall. pulled over immediately to check engine. after checking fluids while vehicle was off started vehicle again. immediately heard even louder crackling and clanking noises. turned it off again. tried again to crank and switched into different gear to see if noise changed and it got quieter when changing heard but then when right back to loud noises. after letting it sit that afternoon had to drive it home a short distance but did so very carefully trying not to strain the engine. then had it towed the next day to local dealership. engine issue, broken connecting rod clanking around in engine damaged the engine block. after researching i found there was a recall for this issue but that my kia soul plus with the 2.0l engine was not included. i scoured the web looking for other plus or exclaim soul owners with similar issues and there was no shortage. i think the 2.0 l engine needs to be included with this recall issue. thank you for your time.
Car engine light came on. diagnostic was run by private mechanic. the code that popped indicated that it could be a catalytic converter problem.mechanic dropped a camera on and the catalytic converter has melted due to what he assumes is excessive heat. mechanic indicates that this does not make sense given the low mileage of the vehicle.
Tl* the contact owns a 2016 kia soul. while driving 60 mph, the contact heard an abnormal knocking noise without warning. the vehicle lost power and the contact managed to veer to the shoulder of the road where smoke was noticed coming from the hood. there were no flames; however, the fire department was contacted anyway. the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who informed the contact to take the vehicle to university kia of durham (5105 durham-chapel hill blvd, durham, nc 27707, (919) 572-1700). the dealer diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced. the contact referenced nhtsa campaign number: 19v120000 (engine, engine and engine cooling). the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 67,000.
I was getting dinner, and i admit that i pulled out rather swiftly and punched the gas, cause people in my area are very aggressive, however having the engine stall, should not have happened,or should i say my engine took a turn for the worst and stopped working for good.so here i was stalled in the middle of a busy hwy and people were honking and going around me.this was not a spot where i could just pull over.so i pushed the car to the next perking lot.i almost got hit initially and almost broke both my ankles trying to push this over sized toy vehicle.towed it to the shop and i got a $6000 bill for a clunked engine.now, prior to all this i didn't do many oil changes, however, how could i when the oil kept burning up.this always puzzled me as to why i kept having to put oil in it,with no visible oil leaks.i think that this engine also had a problem similar to the 192vwhatever engine.i think i had 130,000 miles on this vehicle, but i had no other problems with it.it may have had a lot of where and tear on it,but it should never have done this much damage.i think the,"nhtsa" should do some investigating on this and i will get to the bottom of this for everyone that had this problem.
Was driving home from work, stopped at a light then proceeded to go and vehicle had little to no power. rpm's wouldn't go above about 2500 and would then bog down and almost die. diagnosed with failed catalytic converter at 66k miles. if it was clogging up, we should have seen decreased performance at some point. this isn't something that should just happen all of a sudden.
I had 2 recalls carried to university kia, huntsville alabama. days later the car broke down had to have it towed back to said dealer to find out original service coordinator was fired told he was not performing recalls. my car has been back at dealer for 8 days now not fixed was told converter was stopped up and computer had not been upgraded. leaving us with no transportation to get back and forth to work. need help!! please
2016 kia soul high oil consumption now i am losing power it will stall at 60 down to 40 while driving on the highway . was told my car was not recalled for the same problems of other recalls pertaining to this car. when it was under warranty they refused to do anything now at 83,400 they told me that my warranty has ended .

Car was in motion making a knocking sound. car felt like it was going to stall so i pulled over to the shoulder. car stalled when i stopped. i tried to start the engine again but all of the warning lights came on and nothing happened. i noticed light gray smoke coming from under the hood. i was going to pop the hood to check if the car was overheating and smoke became thicker and black so me and my kids exited the car and went a safe distance from the car and i called 911.

Damaged engine due to oil system issue. dealership serviced ever since purchase. during the first mile of the last drive a engine noise began. the vehicle was immediately stopped and engine shut off. upon further inspection, the oil showed low and it is believed that the engine spun a bearing. car does not have any leaks, no burning oil out of the exhaust.the vehicle is within oil change factory recommendation and only 65 thousand miles on motor. vehicle speed was 25 mph on a city street.
3/19/2019 vehicle was taken in for loss of power, was told catalytic convertor needed replacing, it was replaced and vehicle was fixed 8/5/2019 vehicle was taken in for loss of power and shifting, was told catalytic convertor needed replacing. there are recalls on 1.6 engine but not 2.0 engine, as i was told, so 4.5 months later i an having to replace the convertor again. spoke w/kia seems to be a run around, keep telling me it take 2 - 3 bus days, as of this its been 6 days
On 8/4/19 i was heading to work when my car decided not to go anymore. i was at an intersection making a left turn when all of a sudden my car did not want to accelerate. i could not get passed 3000 rpms. felt the engine rev up but would only go 30 mph. at first i thought it was me, because the whole ride everything was smooth sailing and then this happend out of nowhere. so i gave it a little more gas and could feel the engine struggling. i came to the next red light and when i started to give gas it just jerked and i rolled into the nearest gas station. immediately shut the car off and checked the oil. because as i accelerated at the next light once green the oil light came on and kept blinking. i just changed it two months ago! there was no smoke or burning smell. no oil under car or any other fluid. i had to have car towed home, late to work because i got a ride in. called the dealership and they wanted to charge me 6 to 8 thousand for a new engine once diagnosed. my car is out of warranty. there are 79,000 miles on it. i have been reading articles about the same thing happening to me. there is a recall for the exact same issues but for a 1.6l. mine is a 2.0. why isn't the manufacturer taking any initiative to look into my size engine when i'm having the same problems. i dont have 6 to 8 thousand for this. please investigate. please tell me i have some sort of chance of getting anything fixed at the dealership.
The kia soul 1.6 engine has been recalled due to oil consumption related to excessive catalytic converter heat. i submit to you that the investigation needs to be expanded to include the 2.0 engine. i believe specifically related to the special edition cars that have the larger sized wheels standard wheel is 16" these come with 18" and i believe that these vehicles are subject to the same issue as the 1.6 due to the engine working harder to provide power to run the 18" wheels. i have so far suffered extreme oil loss on 4 occasions. they have done oil consumption tests and required me to bring my vehicle in at my inconvenience a great number of times. with one time having th oil down by 1 quart. but outside of this i have had it go down on me outside of these tests on those 4 occasions so that the dip stick barely had oil on it and my engine was tapping. only once did the check engine light come on and stay on and another time i happened to see it blink once. this extreme oil loss on these special edition 2.0 vehicles will lead to the same issues as experienced on the 1.6 engine. and so far as i am concerned i am now paying monthly payments on a vehicle that must have internal damage as a result of this manufacturing error. please consider further review of these vehicles as they relate to the 2.0 engine and special editions with larger wheels. if you would like i do have a video of the oil level on my dipstick from this past saturday that i can also send. please believe me this is a recurring dangerous situation that is being overlooked> i have a 2010 kia soul which does nto have the new technology and ive had no issues with that car and it has about 150k miles. i also run a scion xb that i have maintained and it has over 220k miles. my cars are cared for and ive never seen anything like this before
Tl* the contact owns a 2016 kia soul. while starting the vehicle, the check engine warning indicator illuminated and there was an abnormal noise coming from the engine. the contact checked the oil and noticed an oil leak. in addition, fumes entered the cabin of the vehicle. the vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 70,000.
(mn) engine threw a rod at 80,000 miles. i was told by a mechanic who performed a diagnostic reading that the knock sensor (po...26) was faulted and that there was a recall for an engine issue, therefore i should look into it to see if this vehicle was included. upon reading articles and complaints the exact issue that happened with my 2016 kia soul is what is described, however, my vin # does not seem to fall within the production of this but i don't think this is accurate, the issue definitely seems relative.
The cars engine stalled will driving. car has oil. not oil related. not sure why engine is gone. i have to replace engine.
Driving home normally, engine knock loudly, lost of power, barley made it home. oil light came on in when i was checking engine. no oil, just had a oil change month ago. no leakage, no smoke from tail pike. oil pressure light never came on until it's out. i read 10 post that is the same as what happen to me.

My 2016 kia soul is under a recall due to burning oil that wrecked the candle at a converter in has the potential of throwing a rod. i threw a rod and took it to the dealership in the dealership is trying to say it's like a mint maintenance not the actual problem of the burning oil which is a cause for lawsuits towards kia. the dealership and kia are refusing to fix the car even knowing it is under a recall and what happened to my car is part of the recall. i have talked to the dealership in i have talked to people at the kis at customer care and they are refusing to fix it.
Driving vehicle approximately 35-45 miles per hour on city street - load noise under engine, it started knocking, loss of power, large puddle of oil under vehicle. had to be towed home. prior to failure - no lights/warnings kia soul + with 2.0 engine found following information for the 1.6 l engine - i suspect it is occurring on the 2.0l engines also nhtsa recall #140711 nhtsa compaign #19v120000 mfg compaign #sc176 removed oil pan and found piston closest to the passenger side tire destroyed and in oil pan. rod punctured front and rear of block. vehicle has 88,439 miles 2nd owner so 100,000 mile warranty not applicable i have to fix the vehicle now - cannot wait for solution on this - curious if the above listed recall is modified to include 2.0 engines, what is the possibility of the costs being covered?
On 6-10-19 the 2.0l engine failed in my 2016 kia soul+ with less than 40,000 miles. the dealership determined this was due to a "manufacturer defect" and will be "repaired under warranty." the service department at the kia dealership stated the cylinders in the block were "out of round." they said it appeared that allow oil to get burned with the exhaust and burn up in the catalytic converter. this caused high amounts of carbon build up in the catalytic converter. i have no time frame as to when my vehicle will be repaired and returned to me.
Soul began using excessive amounts of oil. i did all the oil changes at the dealer. while specs say every 5000 miles, we were changing it at 3000 and adding in a quart every 1000 miles between changes. car performance has dropped significantly in the last year. they said it was my plugs. the last two times in, they said it was my catalytic converter (4 yrs old; 145k miles). 1st quote was 1300. last quote was 1600. they told me they removed it to confirm that was the problem. my son crawled under the car and flat out said they lied. it was never removed. he was the one to find that there is a recall out for kia souls specifically for this issue. the vin is not covered. i am asking that this car be added to the list as it sounds horrible and is a risk to drive. i have rented a car last week and my son is loaning me a car this week. i am attaching a picture of the converter. my son notes that if they removed it to test their conclusion, then the bolts would show signs of removal and that they would have had to weld that back pipe. **date** i am putting today's date since i do not know which date to use. it is my opinion that the excessive oil use starting a couple of years ago was the first indication that the catalytic converter was causing problems.
Tl* the contact owns a 2016 kia soul. the contact stated that the vehicle was burning an excessive amount of oil. the contact checked the oil and noticed that the dipstick was dry; however, the oil was dark after it was changed. in addition, the check engine indicator was illuminated. the vehicle was taken to matthews auto group (3721 vestal rd d, vestal, ny 13850, (607) 584-5354) where an oil consumption test was performed. it was determined that the vehicle was consuming an excessive amount of oil, but there were no visible leaks. the dealer stated that the engine needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was not contacted. the contact stated that the failure was similar to nhtsa campaign number: 19v120000 (engine, engine and engine cooling). the failure mileage was 116,000.

I received recall notice for the engine control unit that can cause catalytic converter to go bad and can cause oil leak. i took my car in cause the check engine light and my car failed emissions i told them it was catalytic converter and i had a major oil leak they fixed the ctalytic converter and told me that the oil leak is because my gasket is messed up and if i pay for an oil change they will fix it and i wont have any more oil leaks well its 2 weeks later and my oil light is coming back on they are crooked and i know they are going to give me a hard time about it since i already had my catalytic converter fixed...the oil started leaking at same time check engine light was coming on so i know that it has something to do with catalytic converter over heating and in recall and kia told them if engine needs replaced they need to do it. i have an appoinment at 7:30 on 6/12 with kia of coatseville i need to know what i need to do to get them to fix my vehicle its costing me money to take off work to get this done
On sunday, may 26th, 2019, our kia soul caught fire as we were driving on the interstate highway. my family was in the car when my husband felt the car lose power. we heard a knocking sound between us and under us, forward between our seats and the engine. my husband saw smoke as he pulled over on the side of the highway. a few seconds after we pulled over, we saw flames erupt from the hood of the car. we got our three kids out of the car as fast as we could and ran from the car. we called 911 and the fire department and police came to put out the fire and direct traffic, as at least one lane was closed. in the time it took for the first responders to arrive, our car exploded into a fire ball.
Tamara recall: my car has been losing oil but do not see oil anywhere. received a recall letter regarding catalytic converter needing replaced. i took it to the dealership. they replaced the converter, gave me an oil change and replaced a pressure valve. four days after i received my car back, there was no oil in the engine. i took it back to kia and they are refusing to replace the engine.
I have a recall on my 2016 kia soul engine control unit
Tl* the contact owns a 2016 kia soul. the contact experienced multiple failures with the vehicle and stated that the steering control module, electrical system, and catalytic converter became defective without warning. the contact discovered nhtsa campaign number: 17v608000 (steering) and nhtsa campaign number: 19v120000 (engine, engine and engine cooling); however, the vin was not included in the recalls. also, while the vehicle was idling, the engine shook and a sulfur odor emitted from the vehicle. the contact took the vehicle to first kia (2081 1st st, simi valley, ca 93065, (805) 624-4044), but was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified. the failure mileage was 42,000.
I was driving home from work and my car started making a clicking sound. a couple minutes later it slowed down until it completely stopped. i'm thankful i was pulling up in front of my house before the car completely died. i replaced the battery but it still won't crank. the lights, radio, and air conditioning works. i was told it may be the alternator.
1st issue the malfunction indicator lamp came on. car has 44k miles on it. the car has loss of power and cuts off when trying to accelerate. the gas mileage has dropped considerably and the engine is running extremely hot
Car would lose power while driving and could not reach any speed over 65 with out the rpm gauge going very high. it would not completely loose power and i can keep it moving. the check engine light did not come on and the temperature gauge read as normal. i got a second opinion on the car and they said it was the catalytic converter.
Tl* the contact owns a 2016 kia soul. while driving 25 mph, the vehicle unintentionally slowed down to a complete stop without depressing the brake pedal. the check engine and oil warning indicators illuminated. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the dealer and manufacturer were not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 105,000.
I was driving home on the sepulveda pass which is a 45-50 mph zone and suddenly my car lost power and from going 45mph i as going uphill at 10mph. i then lost all control and my battery died. i got towed to a mechanic and said it was an alternator problem at first then said it was the catalytic converter. i then had a sensor change and new battery bought when those two things weren't the problem.
I was driving and my 2016 kia soul stalled in the middle of the highway the car behind me almost crashed into me and begin beeping. when i pushed on the gas it would hesitate giving me just enough to get to the side of the ride. this is the second time this has happened the first time the dealer repaired the long engine block free of charge at 66,000 miles this time the dealer told me it's the same exact thing wrong but i am responsible for the repairs. they also said i don't have regular oil changes but i have receipts from both kia dealerships that i have my car serviced but they only are going by there records from they dealership, i do see there was a recall (sc176)on the engines feb 2019 and want to know if and why my vehicle is not included in the recall. my first complaint about my engine was 2 months after purchasing it. to have your car stall in the middle of a highway is very scary and a hazard to everyone
My catalytic converter has gone bad i was told its a recall issue, yet has not been reported and other vehicles same year and model have reported the same issue yet no recall has been issued. please look into this matter due to a lot of car owners are pay costly repairs for seams as a manufacturer defect. thank you
While accelerating on the highway the engine suddenly stopped running and would not restart. after over it was discovered that a piston broke and poked through the crank case causing major oil loss.
Driving on highway and car started slipping gears and having trouble accelerating from a stop. oil light came on and it had no oil, added proper amount and type of oil. when idling check oil light flashes red even with proper oil level. dealership states sounds like, they currently are checking it, engine and rod issue.
I purchased my kia soul in february 2016. i've driven around 45,000 miles and really enjoyed it until the other night. driving about 45mph on a major street when a loud screech came from the engine. the car jerked and i thought it was going to stall but it didn't. a loud knocking sound started from under the hood and the oil light flickered a couple of times. drove about 1/4 mile to the nearest gas station. added around 1 quart of oil since i saw the oil light flicker. i then drove home (about 5 miles) and the oil light flickered a couple of times on the way. the next day i started the car, the oil light was off but the check engine light was on. so, i drove it to the dealership (1.5 miles at the most) and was told i needed a whole new engine. i was quoted $4,000 to $6,000 for a used one and for a new one it would be substantially more. i've taken good care of this vehicle and have maintained and regular oil changes. several of the oil changes were performed at an auto repair shop that went bankrupt. i have no way to obtain copies of those receipts. all i could supply the dealership was one receipt and they had one receipt in their service records. therefore, no copies... no warranty. i can't afford the cost to repair it and i have no idea what to do at this point. the dealer will buy the car back for around $4,000 at best. why is it that one minute a 3 year old car is running great without a problem and the next minute it's parked and in need of a new engine? something isn't right about that and i am at a loss of what to do next.
After taking the car to my mechanic for an oil change, i was advised to take the car to the dealership because the engine was making a loud banging sound on start up. my mechanic had the vehicle over night and the engine was started cold in the morning on a quiet street. i had noticed that week, that while idling at red lights, it felt as though the car was stalling. the dealership had the car for two full days and were unable to replicate the banging sound and so could not do anything. the car went back to my mechanic for an oil change, which they completed and again had the car over night. when i picked it up, they mentioned that the banging sound had ceased; however, he mentioned that the engine was still "missing" on start up and while idling. given the recent incidents with kia motors, am i just waiting for my car to catch on fire to be included in the recalls? it appears that only the 1.6 liters trim level is currently included (base model).
Check engine light came on. vehicle taken into a auto shop. told it was the catalytic converter. i saw that 2016 kia souls were being recalled with damaged catalytic converters. wanting to know if my vehicle qualified.
