Problems with 2011 Kia Sorento VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL

On average, the 2011 Kia Sorento starts to “feel” problems with the VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL and its various aspects after 39 897 miles.

Components Affected by VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL Issues

We have classified the 47 complaints from 2011 Kia Sorento about VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL into the following categories.

ACCELERATOR PEDAL 3

Recently reported VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL problems on 2011 Kia Sorento

All steering wheel function have stop working including horn. radio, cruise and blue tooth controls. during a trip on the high way

Kia was purchased less than a year ago. this is the third time it was taken to a dealership to get checked. car engine light comes on and loses power and keeps going into limp mode. it is a safety hazard and must be dealt with. today while in the passing lane car lost all power and would not move. i was driving about 45mph and it wouldn't go . a tractor trailer was speeding behind me and nearly rear ended me as i was in the passing lane and couldn't make it go again to pull over. when i eventually got it to pull over it was idling high and did not sound right. mechanic came and placed vehicle on computer and again three codes came up including engine power failure and limp mode. i could have been seriously injured due to kias lack to repair this defect and this could be a lawsuit waiting to happen. i want to be reimbursed for repairs or an allowance toward a new vehicle purchase.

Everytime i hit a little bump in the road my eco saver goes off causing me to burn more gas until i hit another bump to knock the saver back on

I brought my vehicle into kia for several recalls. one was the door locks being faulty. i said i had no problems but they decided to replace them anyway. now my rear door lock is broken. the other issue is when accelerating the engine revs. it only happened a couple of times at first, but now it happens every time i drive. it seems like the pedal is getting stuck. my last issue is the air bag. i was rear ended on the highway and pushed into the car in front of me. the whole front end was banged up and the airbag never opened.

My car just immediately started slowing down and it was extremely hard to turn the steering wheel and the brakes would not let me brake. i almost wrecked my car. also my camera just stopped working as well.

My kia sorento 2011. my problem is that my car started acting different. every time i turn it makes a noise. i got the ball joint done. the right site. also i got the strut done . i was told that i need new strut again. .went i drive it sound like if the car gonna fall apart.

Recall!!!when accelerating more than 60-80 mph on the interstate, the eco sensor light pops on and my suv jerks back then picks up speed causing the back of my head to hit your head restraint. it is very scary!!!!

According to the obd code reader: code p0335, $07e8 generic. crankshaft position sensor a circuit. vehicle has trouble starting. the tachometer falls to 0 as opposed to sitting at a higher idle, and does not move when pressing foot on gas pedal when stationary or in motion. when in motion, there can be temporary loss of power, the inability to shift gears, and/or the vehicle shakes and rattles. this happens on city streets and highways, when in all types of traffic and when moving at constant speeds. when this situation happens, the car does not shift gears at all and must be restarted. this has caused dangerous lane changing to highway shoulders as well as difficult attempts back onto the roadways during rush hour.

When driving between 35-45 mph the tachometer will drop to 0 and the sorento will lunge or buck, hesitate and will not respond to acceleration. the engine light flashes and sometimes stays on. one time i accelerated to pass, it responded but stopped midway thru the pass, decelled back to 20 mph. i could not complete my pass and had to fall back behind the slower vehicle. i understand there is a voluntary service campaign by kia # sc106 but no dealership acknowledges it. there is 130,000 miles on the vehicle.

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 kia sorento. while driving 50 mph, the contact depressed the brake pedal and the vehicle decelerated to 10 mph; however, the accelerator pedal was depressed to the floorboard. the vehicle was taken to turner kia (4201 chambers hill rd, harrisburg, pa 17111, (717) 564-2240) where the cause of the failure was not determined; however, the contact was informed that the engine might be faulty. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 116,000. *tt consumer notified corporate headquarters. updated 12/11/18*jb

Air bag light stays on all the time it seams there are numerous complaint about this issue ive already read about 20 posted on the internet. the safety issue is when the light is on the air bag system is not functional. the light turns on when i star the car then goes of for 2 seconds and stays on all the time until i shut down the car. ive done all the quick checks like lose connections to no avail. on line the most common problem seams to in the passenger side sensor mat. i problem that cost around $2000 to have fixed. i feel the problem is safety related and the manufacturer is responsible for this issue

Since i bought the 2011 kia sorento the transmission or engine tends to stall in the middle of driving like not changing gears, gets locked, jerks back and forth till it unlocks or changes gears while at the same time slowing or stopping car in it's tracks. twice i have hit my head on the steering wheel, have had seat belts lock tight against me and my passengers when it locks while trying to change gears. it happens at least 3-6 time a year since i have had the car. i have reported it to my service dealership kearny pearson kia, 7303 clairemont mesa blvd, san diego, ca 92111 and they have not found anything wrong. these past two years the gears locking is getting worse and the car slows down instantly from driving on the frwy 65 mph down to 35 mph instantly almost having cars hit me from behind. same for driving on the street going 35-40 mph dropping to 5-10mph and stop/jerk/go/stop/jerk and almost having cars behind me crash into me. i have been blessed to have had fast reacting drivers behind me or no drivers. this last incident last month was so powerful that i smacked the steering wheel and thought i had gotten hit but didn't. my chest got tight as if i was having a heart attack from the force and my kids cried from the whiplash. this was yet the strongest. also, since 2011 i have had 7 - 10 incidents of smoke coming out of the air vents, smiling like fire. i turn off the vent and it continues for 10min then goes away. i am no mechanic but if i had to guess i would say something with the air-conditioning being high for long periods and then when it gets turned down or off seems to activate these things especially the gears locking. just my observation. i hope you can get to the bottom of this because for the first time in my life i fear for my life and those with me or around me with this car. you just don't know when it will happen next.

Very rough start in the morning or after sitting off for over 2 hours. after 30 seconds engine noise reduced dramatically. steering control malfunction sometimes. making up dow button act erraticaly along cruise control and radio control. bluetooth connection sound quality very poor.

Throttle position sensor (part of throttle body) hazard! random. the vehicle radio will shut off, all dashboard lights will illuminate (same lights illuminate when the vehicle is started), and then the throttle pedal loses the ability to accelerate even when pressed all the way to the floor. there is no acceleration/power what so ever! the vehicle will maintain a speed 20 mph. this has been confirmed as the vehicle is pulled off the road to safety. to correct, emergency exit to side of the road, place the vehicle in park, turn the vehicle off, and then restart the vehicle. this has happened on numerous occasions while driving at accelerated speed (40-60 mph) of which the vehicle was pulling out into traffic, while on the highway, and while accelerating after a stop light. this is a very hazardous/dangerous condition that has nearly placed me into an accident that could have ether severely injured or killed me by oncoming traffic. there are multiple complaints regarding this issue when searched on youtube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nhqaqurnfv0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=834xlhqgrno

My kia was being details, the person detailing the vehicle got into the vehicle. he pushed the start button didn't start the vehicle. he started it by inserting the fob in the console. the vehicle started at high rpms, driver had his foot on the brake, placed the car into reverse and the car exited the garage at a high rate of speed, driver applied both feet on the brakes the brakes did not work he tried to steer the vehicle away from the creek the steering did not work.. the vehicle did stop after it crashed into the creek that was near the business. the driver sustained injury to his head when he tried to exit the vehicle after it entered the creek. vehicle was pulled from the creek. driver did seek medical attention at a local hospital.

Takata recall when i'm driving and accelerate the car don't shifting the gear or its delaying. sometime it not shifting from 4 ht speed and up. i read on internet about many complains and about recalls in 2015 regarding this type of problem. https://www.cars.com/research/kia-sorento-2011/recalls/ please help me to fix this problem

While returning from my aunts funeral in kansas, making my way to georgia. the car began to slow down and stop, on the highway. then it cut off, wouldn't start or move. there was this whining and clanking sound, white smoke and fire shot out from under the car, as i was told by a person that was passing by, he stopped to make sure that i got out of the car. it just got to 130,000 miles. had it towed to a shop and was told that the engine was gone.

After our purchase of the vehicle, the cancel button would get stuck at the top of the button. therefore not being able to turn off the cruise control system completely. without the brake switch it could cause the cruise control to not disengage.

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 kia sorento. while driving various speeds, the check engine light illuminated. the vehicle failed to accelerate when depressing the accelerator pedal. the contact coasted the vehicle over to the side of the road, restarted the vehicle, and resumed driving. the failure recurred numerous times. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed, but the failure could not be found. the manufacturer was not notified. the approximate failure mileage was 50,000.

My son was driving on interstate i-5 near salem, or when his car suddenly stopped and would not accelerate. the car had a 50,000 mile and $1000.00 service 3 months prior to this incident. i did on line research and saw several instances of kia sorentos stopping suddenly on the highway. kia offered $400.00 to compensate our inconvenience but i think the us consumer safety is worth much more. i would appreciate your investigation of this incidence. thank you, [xxx] the kia representative is [xxx]. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

I was driving on the highway, in the high speed lane going 75mph when my rpm's suddenly went all the way up and then down, past 0. the car made a huge jolt but then kept driving with no tachometer. approximately 1/2 mile later i had to slow down to get off highway and then merge onto another interstate when my car wouldn't accelerate and totally shut off. i've been having issues w fixing it at kia. they have replaced the crank shaft sensor 2x as well as the instrument cluster. it continues to violently jerk daily, typically when accelerating around 40 mph and again stalled while in drive last week. the dealership tells me that the car is running as designed but i just have a steady foot and the engine isn't sure what gear it should be i when i'm going 40mph. *tr

While driving on light, new snow my car had suddenly skidded slightly, no over-correcting, i simply got the car back in control when the car suddenly shot forward, steering wheel seized and started racing down the opposite side of the street into the embankment! i had pulled the car to the left and had the brakes pushed all the way down (and both feet including all my weight on them) until my car crashed completely into a tree! the tires were still spinning when the car stopped and my feet were on the brakes! it was also hard to get the car out of drive and into park --- when i was able to push the car into park i quickly took the keys out. the 2011 kia sorento and sudden acceleration seems to be a problem and should seriously be looked into. yes, i was injured and thankfully a tree stopped the vehicle and no one else was hurt! *tr

This is the most recent and serious electric issue; i do not know the exact dates of earlier issues. i believe all these electric issues are related. issues began in 2010 after the purchase of the car. was taken to the dealer for electrical issue and they repaired lose cluster array. other electric issues from 2011-2013: when turning left the downhill brake control indicator would light would come on and prevent the car being put into park, the headlights flicker when car is at a stop, driver side low beam headlight frequently burns out. december 2013-january 2014: all dash indicator lights malfunctioned (no warning lights/gauges, including fuel, speed, turn signals, low fuel indicator, etc.). dealer found the factory cluster array to be faulty. the dealer replaced the cluster with a new one. i am reporting the following: i was traveling 65mph and turned the cruise control off, the abs warning, downhill brake control, electronic stability control indicator and 4wd auto lock lights all illuminated. the car was operating normally. today, all of these lights came, stayed on, then went off. upon driving, the electronic stability control light came on and the car downshifted as i was driving. all other of indicator lights noted came back on. i am taking my car back to the dealer tomorrow. many other kia owners are reporting almost identical issues. this most recent incident occurred when i was traveling at a high rate of speed and follows a serious of electrical issues i have had since i owned my car, new from the dealer. something is wrong at the manufacturing level that needs to be addressed before someone is killed. *tr

During early morning startup, vehicle accelerated past 3000 rpm for approximately 10 seconds. after deceleration, when the vehicle was shifted to drive, a loud thump was heard and a forward thrust was felt. no forward motion occurred because of brake pedal depression. *tr

Started vehicle 7am. shifted from p to r. engine revved on its own. shifted back to p. observed clunk sound from transmission. shifted back to r and observed clunk sound. reversed to street. shifted to d. vehicle accelerated on its own without depression accelerator to 20 mph. pulled over. shifted to p. turned off ignition. restarted vehicle. clunk sound or sudden acceleration not observed. *tr

I was driving with the cruise control set at 70 and suddenly the car accelerated on its own (sounded as if someone had floored the gas pedal). i tapped the brake and when i looked at the dash multiple indicator lights were lit. after tapping the brake the engine continued to run but the accelerator would not work. i came to a stop on the shoulder- at this point the engine oil pressure light and engine malfunction lights were illuminated. i turned the car off. tried to restart after few minutes and it would not start. a few minutes later it did start but sounded bad. i contacted kia and was told to have vehicle towed to dealership and a regional kia rep would investigate my vehicle (what that means, i don't know quite yet). *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 kia sorento. the contact stated that while depressing the brakes and reversing from a residential driveway at approximately 5 mph, the vehicle suddenly accelerated into a busy street without warning. the vehicle abnormally accelerated to approximately 70 mph and came to a stop after crashing into another vehicle. the police were contacted and a report was filed. the driver sustained minor injuries to various parts of her body and later was transported to the hospital. the driver of the second vehicle was transported to the hospital via ambulance for treatment of unknown injuries. the vehicle was later towed to an independent mechanic and was pending an investigation. the manufacturer was contacted and advised the contact that once the vehicle was repaired, they would perform a warranty check. the failure and current mileages were approximately 25,000. updated 12/21/12*lj updated 1/9/2013 *js

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 kia sorento. the contact stated while driving 25 mph the vehicle began to accelerate independently. the contact attempted to stop the vehicle by shifting in the park position but she was unsuccessful. the vehicle was finally able to be put into the park position and then became stuck in that position. the dealer was called and informed the contact over the phone that her brake lamp switch was likely the cause of the failure. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for a more complete diagnosis and the brake lamp switch was repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure who did not offer any assistance. the failure and current mileage was 15,000. updated 11/13/12 *cn the consumer stated the attorney general called and stated this falls under the lemon law. the consumer would like information on who to contact next and any attorney information. updated 11/20/2012 *js

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 kia sorento. the contact stated while driving 60 mph the accelerator failed. the contact steered the vehicle to the side of the road as it slowed to a stop. once the vehicle was restarted the accelerator responded as designed. the vehicle was taken to a dealer for diagnosis and the throttle body was replaced. the contact mentioned that it was the second time the throttle body had to be replaced. the failure and current mileage was 24,000.

On 9/19/2012 at 12:17 pm i took a frantic call from my wife. she had just stopped to fill up with gas, got back on the interstate and set the cruise control at around 75 mph. shortly afterwards the front end started shaking and the vehicle started to lose speed. she shut off the cruise and was looking for a place to pull over when the vehicle started to accelerate on its own. it was already going over 80 mph when she called. i told her to stand on the brakes-no effect. i told her to put her foot on the brake and to push and hold the start button for 10 seconds-nothing (that is the override to get the car started when the brake switch malfunctions-we had just had it replaced at the dealership 2 weeks prior). i told her to shift it into neutral-the shifter is locked in drive. i told her to shift to a lower gear-it won't move. after 4 minutes the car was going over 85 mph-i told her to hang up & call 911 as she could tell them where she was much better than i could. a few minutes later i received a call from the highway patrol-they had 2 cruisers on the interstate with her trying to clear traffic ahead of her. i asked if they could get a cruiser ahead of her and let her nose up behind it and then use the cruiser to stop her. evidently they didn't like that idea or it is against policy because they never did try that. the dispatcher had to hang up to concentrate on the situation at hand. i now had the dispatcher's number so i could call her back. at one point i called back and suggested that she engage the cruise control and try to slow the car with it. my wife does not remember ever trying this. this went on for about 45 minutes at speeds up to 119 mph. at the end one of the officers told her to put her left foot on the brake and pull up on the accelerator with her right foot at the same time. she went from over 100 mph to under 50 mph instantly, let go of the pedals. *tr

My husband was on private property. he got in the car, put the car in reverse and backed up. he heard a loud pop. he put the car in drive, and his foot was still on the brake. the car began to accelerate on its own with his foot on the brake until the vehicle got up to 60 miles per hour. trying not to hit the house, or the person outside of the property he maneuvered the car into the back yard. the car was steadily picking up speed and his foot was on the brake the entire time. he could not get the gear to shift or the brakes to work. the vehicle struck a tree and that impeded the movement of the vehicle. he turned the car off and got out of it. *tr

2011 kia sorento. consumer states unintended acceleration *tgw the consumer stated as he was driving down his driveway, he began to slow down, as he approached the road. there was a slight shifting motion and the vehicle suddenly accelerated to the max of 8000 rpm's. he depressed the brake, but the vehicle continued to move, so he placed the transmission in neutral and turned off the engine. he then re-started the engine and everything seemed normal. the vehicle was taken to the dealer. however, they were unable to duplicate the incident.

My wife was driving my our 2011 kia sorento at around 55 mph entering the highway when she suddenly lost power. she tried to use both the brakes and accelerator and found that neither of them worked. the car slowed to about 5-10mph before eventually stopping in the middle of the road, as she had been unable to pull the car to the side of the road. after several minutes of trying, she was eventually able to get the car restarted and drive the rest of the way home. she does recall that the driver side window appeared to be working. the car was brought to the dealership immediately the day after this happened. however, they were unable to reproduce what happened to the car. they did update the electronic control module software. will continue to monitor situation closely. *tr

while driving (usually steady state speed on highway - with or without cruise control engaged) car experiences a sudden loss of engine power accompanied by a jolt (as if brakes had been abruptly and briefly engaged, or as if fuel supply suddenly shut off), tachometer dips suddenly, car suddenly decelerates for a second or two, and then things return to normal. sometimes an indicator light - or more than one- flashes momentarily at the time of the incident, these include the engine light, the traction control light, and/or the key immobilizer light - sometimes no indicator light flashes at all. this has also happened while accelerating away from a dead stop - sudden loss of forward momentum w/ a jolt. i am afraid i will get rear-ended as the car suddenly slows but brake lights are not illuminated, and a car following too closely will not be able to react in time. if cruise control is engaged at time of incident it becomes disengaged and has to be reset. this sometimes will not occur in an hour of driving, but sometimes will occur as often as 10 times in a 20 mile drive with no discernible pattern. this has happened many times and grown more frequent over time. the first time it occurred was in a rain storm and i suspected the esc was sensing slippage and firing the brakes, however it happens regardless of weather or road surface and now happens every time i drive for more than a few miles on freeway. the car has been evaluated by kia service more than three times and problem is not resolved - battery and abs module were replaced without success. concern is of safety of vehicle and other vehicles following behind me. *tr

Engine stalls while driving, last time was almost in accident 1/23/12 @40 mph, 3/06/12 @ 50 mph, 5/24/12 @35 mph, 9/4/12 @55 mph. have dealership service records for first three incidents. new throttle body installed 3/06/1 in florida at sunset kia in venice. per matt jarvis bald hill kia in warwick ri, the replacement throttle body was defective (kia got a bad lot of throttle bodies for a while.] replaced again 9/6/12. dealership had knowledge of possible defective part before last stalling. i was driving at 55 mph on rt 24 in middletown ri in the passing lane when the car stalled, gas peddle unresponsive. i was almost rear ended and had to weave though traffic to get through the driving lane then on to the grass. it was a miracle that i made it to safety. why did dealership not recall defective throttle bodies. *tr

While driving the vehicle and while pressing the gas pedal the vehicle starts to come to a stop as if the gas pedal is not being applied. i have to release the gas pedal and press it again for the sorento to respond and continue to accelerate. i took it to the dealer and they have no clue as to what is the problem. they reset the computer and released the vehicle to me but the problem persists. *kb

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 kia sorento. the contact was driving approximately 5 mph in reverse and the vehicle unexpectedly increased acceleration and circled around the sidewalk and then uncontrollably traveled onto the lawn, crashing through a plastic fence. there was no personal injury. a police report was not filed, but they were notified. the contact planned to have the vehicle towed to the dealer for diagnosis. the manufacturer was notified of the defect. the approximate failure mileage was 7,410. updated 12/28/11*lj the consumer stated there was damage to the rear passenger side of the vehicle. the consumer has since sold the vehicle. updated 03/12/12

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 kia sorento. the contact stated that while driving at low speeds, the esc and dbc lights illuminated on the instrument panel. the contact applied the brakes and the vehicle surged forward until crashing into a tree. a police report was not filed and no injuries were suffered. the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was pending an investigation. the manufacturer was notified and the contact was informed that an engineer would be sent to examine the vehicle. the failure and current mileages were unknown.

The date above is the first date there was a indication of a problem. the actual speed of travel has varied. the issue is random and has affected most systems at one time or the other. it has normally been a headache more than safety always going away after shutting the car down and restarting. to me it became a safety issue when about two months ago i heard a loud bang like i hit something and then my rpms increased and the transmission would not shift out of the lower gears. i pulled into a safe parking area, shut the car down and called the dealer. after restarting the car the problem went away, just as it has every time no matter what system has been affected. the issues have ranged from a cruise control refusing to activate, the cruise control having erratic behavior (often kicking in the passing gear when not required), total electronic panel shutdown (including radio), to doors locking on their own when open, to headlights not being turned off when they should have been after 2-30 seconds. the transmission issue has been the most serious. the car should have already been serviced under a similar recall. i have noted similar complaints including a similar transmission compliant on kia forums. kia itself refused to give the go ahead for a computer reset/upgrade. my dealer did this on his own for me after i made it clear this has gone too far. a personal conversation with kia was negative and was nothing short of talking in circles. i understand the issue of trying to traced random problems, but not the failure to start an investigation into, for instance, possible computer shielding issues making outside interference a possibility. it remains to be seen if the computer update works, but it is a issue when a transmission shuts totally or partly down. the dealer has never been able to verify my complaints. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 kia sorento. the contact stated that the vehicle hesitated while attempting to accelerate. the contact mentioned that once the vehicle responded, the vehicle lunged forward abnormally. the vehicle was taken to the dealer several times. the dealer was unable to duplicate the failure, but replaced the accelerator pedal assembly as a temporary remedy. the remedy failed to repair the failure. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure who lodged a complaint and advised the contact that they would contact him at a later date. the vehicle was not further repaired. the failure mileage was 3,000 and the current mileage was 15,000. the consumer has since traded the vehicle. updated 02/01/12

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 kia sorento. the contact stated that the vehicle stalled while driving 5 mph. the vehicle was jump started the following day and taken to an authorized dealer. the throttle was replaced. the failure had since recurred on an intermittent basis while driving at various speeds. the contact also stated that the alarm system would inadvertently sound. in addition, the contact stated that the vehicle would experience difficulty starting. the vehicle was taken back to the dealer and they were unable to diagnose a failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 8,990.

Driving from palm springs to los angeles on highway 10, a very loud clunk heard beneath the drivers seat and vehicle lost power but continued to rev. slowly recovered. about 10 minutes later, at speed of 65 in traffic on highway, another loud grinding clunk heard somewhere beneath driver's seat. vehicle again lost power but continued to rev. best way to describe is that it felt like the car was suddenly dropping from 5th gear to 1st gear. but the gear shift was not touched. this happened in traffic on a major highway. i see there are dozens of similar complaints registered on this site. please take action before someone is hurt. *tr

Cruise control broken for 3rd time. cruise control does not work, has already had cruise control switch replaced once. taking into dealer for third time and ironically, the day we picked 2011 kia sorento up to have the cruise control fixed for the second time, it did not work with dealer stating "could not duplicate customer's concern." what if we all did our job that way? is this site, paid for by us citizens, just for blogging or does the national highway traffic and safety administration have any teeth? its about time for a recall on the 2011 kia sorento for transmission, sudden acceleration, cruise control, steering - pulling to the right, and other problems the 2011 kia sorento has that are dangers to the public at large. *tr

I was traveling at approximately 70 mph and my tachometer stopped working and i started losing speed. the car would not shift. i was able to move to manual shifting and resume my speed. but the tachometer continued to read "0". *tr

2011 kia sorento. consumer writes regarding problems with vehicle within the first 2 months of purchase *tgw the consumer stated the stalled while driving on the highway. it would down shift unexpectedly and then jerk and jolt. there were times when the consumer applied the accelerator and the vehicle would not respond for a short period before the vehicle revved up and accelerated. the vehicle also pulled to the right and there was a bad grinding/rubbing sound coming from the front drivers side of the vehicle, along with spongy brakes which was a problem from the start. the consumer stated when she started the vehicle, there was a knocking noise coming from the engine. the interior lights went out, the drivers side window switch was faulty and the back-up camera stopped working. *jb

After completeing the second nhtsa complaint #10377110 last evening on our 2011 kia sorento, my spouse came home from driving the 2011 kia sorento (with two previous transmission complaints) and informed myself the vehicle now accelerates on its own!!! my spouse stated "the engine started reving all by itself" so i hit the brakes. she stated the vehicle's brakes did in fact stop the vehicle and she was able to drive home safely with no further incidence. please do something about the kia sorento before someone is hurt. we will no longer drive the vehicle for any reason. *ln

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 kia sorrento. the contact stated that the vehicle would sporadically lunge forward when started. the contact stated that the vehicle has a keyless start and the failure would occur even while sitting with the brakes depressed. the failure progressed and became more frequent over time. the vehicle was in the process of being inspected for the failure. the failure mileage was 14 and the current mileage was 2,100.

When acceleration from a stop or slow speed the engine will occasionally bog down or hesitate and almost die. very dangerous when attempting to pull out in traffic esp onto a highway from a side street. *tr

Vehicle pulls to the right and has since day one. dealer states "we cant duplicate your concern", yet when we picked up the vehicle (from the cruise control breaking, the vehicle again pulled to the right. we did not say much after until reading about dozens of other vehicle owner whom experience the same problem. when will the national highway transportation and safety administration do something about it? *tr
