I have had my kia sorento for 10 months. it has been back to the dealership 4 times for transmission issues. on the third time that it went back, they decided to put a new transmission in it. it worked for three months. i was driving home from ky when the transmission started leaking. this was suppose to be a new transmission. are there other issues with other cars??? *tr

After completeing the second nhtsa complaint #10377110 last evening on our 2011 kia sorento, my spouse came home from driving the 2011 kia sorento (with two previous transmission complaints) and informed myself the vehicle now accelerates on its own!!! my spouse stated "the engine started reving all by itself" so i hit the brakes. she stated the vehicle's brakes did in fact stop the vehicle and she was able to drive home safely with no further incidence. please do something about the kia sorento before someone is hurt. we will no longer drive the vehicle for any reason. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2011 kia sorento. while driving different speeds the vehicle would jerk forward and lose power. the transmission light illuminated on the instrument panel. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. the technicians stated the transmission needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. there was a recall under nhtsa campaign id number: 11v258000 (power train:driveline:driveshaft) but the dealer stated the vin was not included. the approximate failure mileage was 1,820.

Transmission on my 2011 kia sorento went when i was exiting a roadway. car just wouldn't move forward anymore. engine was still running. *tr

Received our "repaired" 2011 kia sorento back, after 6 weeks of being without it from previous transmission failure, on 29 dec 2010. the vehicle smelled as though it were hot on drive home from dealership. the next morning 30 dec 2010, with the vehicle running and while at an intersection, i put the vehicle in drive but nothing happened except a grinding noise. i moved the shift up and down for several seconds and even tried turning the vehicle on and off to no avail. finally after several seconds, i moved the shifter into drive and the grinding did not occur and the vehicle took off. the incident occurred, as did the initial failure 6 weeks ago, at an intersection whereby i could have been injured. the vehicle now, at random, repeats the same scenario. *tr

Front strut failure at 3k miles. car randomly has a loud metallic clunk sound when starting, sometimes the car will surge/jump forward when starting (while the car is in park, parking brake on and foot on brake). the transmission shifter gets stuck in park and does not release, with great effort releasing from park(car made loud metallic clank sound and surged/jumped in reverse). i'm afraid to park too close to another car because starting car can cause collision. when the transmission is stuck the brakes depress to floor of car. since day one the car has pulled to the right, after strut replacement the problem is worse (the faster the speed the harder it is to steer straight).

Transmission and driveshaft broke 21 nov 2010 barely making it across busy intersection. vehicle is 2011 kia sorento. purchased in february 2010 (in texas), kia sorento broke down out of state (ft. bragg, nc) thanksgiving week 2010. kia had vehicle towed to nearest dealer - a+. kia provided rental immediately - a+. kia dealership reported transmission and driveshaft would need to be replaced. (vehicle started but would not move and made grinding noise). kia now states "we do not have a followback policy" meaning i'm supposed to pay for vehicle to be returned from near ft. bragg nc to where i reside in texas - f. any one know the law? i have owned 7 kia's including this one, you would think kia would reward such loyalty? *tr

Delay in acceleration after applying brakes. this happens from a dead start and also while moving. especially bad when trying to back up a grade. (ex.) while backing up a grade such as a driveway to the garage i back up and then hit my brake to stop. i then realize i need to back up a little farther. i take my foot off of the brake and push the accelerator. instead of going backwards i drift forward. in my mind i am thinking i don't have the accelerator pushed down so i push harder and about that time the accelerator kicks in and i go flying backwards toward the garage door. (ex.2) i am trying to back a boat into the river. i back up and hold my foot on the brake. i need to pull back out of the water some so i quickly release my foot from the brake and push the accelerator. now instead of going forward there is a delay in acceleration and i drift further into the river. (someone is going to have a very bad accident) multiply this occurrence at every stop sign. especially where there is a grade involved. in my opinion i believe this is a design in the computer for what ever reason and it is a very dangerous one. *tr

In october of 2010, i was driving my 9 month old 2011 kia sorento. i was stopped at a traffic light and heard a very loud boom sound. i put the car in park. i tried to shift the gear into drive and it made a very loud grinding noise and the car would not move. i had the car towed into kia and the transmission had completely gone including the drive shaft. they had to totally replace the transmission and drive shaft. today is april 19, 2011 and for the past couple weeks my car has been hesitating like i am running out of gas, at some points the car actually jerks. i am taking the car in to be serviced today. *tr

Own 2011 sorento ex v6 - similar complaint as another when using pushbutton start every 4 or 5 starts a loud clunking and engine torque or transmission is experienced. also noted a continuing oscillating "hum" coming from the rear wheel area - very noticeable on somewhat smoother roads. not due to roads since i have tried other roads to rule out a particular road. it's from the car and not the road. it never goes away. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 kia sorento. the contact stated that she attempted to reverse however, the shifter could not be moved for over 30 minutes. in addition, the radio would sporadically power on independently and drain the battery. the vehicle was taken to the dealer but the technician was unable to diagnose the failure. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the vin was unavailable. the approximate failure mileage was 75,000.

Bought a 2011 sorento lx v6. wife drove it home that night. i did not drive till two day's later with only 105 miles on it, and immediately felt the call pulling right at all times, even the steering wheels is off center. also like other owners; the car has the constant noisy front/right wheel, and the transmission thud/jerk about every 5 starts. i called the dealership and asked to speak to the sales mgr. and explained the situation, he told me he had heard of no such issues about any cars at any time. he told me to come in and talk to the sales person who sold me the car. he made no attempt to reassure me and clearly lied. i will be taking the car in a the end of the week and see where this hopefully short road will take us. also for any other person who comes upon these complaints, please do you homework on your states lemon laws. they are designed to protect you and the seller, so be sure you do your part, it can be easy to screw yourself over. *tr

I bought a brand new kia sorento 2011 in february this year. i have 20 000 miles on it and 2 days ago while i tried to drive off from intersection i heard a noise like something broke coming from driver's front side of the vehicle and right after that starts to make a sound like is keep braking metal. the vehicle went completely undrivable. i called road help assistance and they tow the car to the dealership. next day they called me back and on my question what is going on they told me that " cv shaft is broken" and they will need to replace that part and that will take more than a week, but they did not showed me the broken part. so i'm not sure if the broken part is available, but should be still in the service center on the kia dealership. *tr

Bought a 2011 kia sorento 4cyl standard package. noticed at around 200 miles the front right tire was making some clunking noises and felt very wobbly. the car also pulls to the right on the highway. called the local kia dealership and they looked at it and said it was a suspension problem and they had another car with the same problem so they knew what it was. it's been 3 weeks, kia said they would call but they never did so i have called the dealer over 4 times to hear the words "we don't have your part" they told me one other time that one of the guys tried to order too many parts and they got rejected! lies! the rpm's also reeve up for no apparent reason. they make the car sound like the motor is going to blow up and last, the car pulls to the right while driving on the highway. very unsafe!i don't feel safe driving this car and it feels like i am driving a pile of junk. i am waiting to break down on the freeway! *tr

*altered mileage , * drive and emissions, checked engine light on, fuel cap replaced, 2 journal prefixes, repair kit wiring, brace added for wires to keep from touching tail pipe, transmission gears had to be replaced due to my vehicle not being able to shift to the next gear, and getting stuck in gears keeping me from being mobile in traffic. my windows get stuck in positions all the time when leaving drive thru windows etc. and i have to pull over, stop the car, turn it off and restart a couple of times. *although shift gears have been replaced, my vehicle (with my family in it thank god at safe speeds) will not shift/go to the next gear, becoming immobile. if parking at a store, work etc. often i can not put my vehicle into park, it remains stuck in drive often making me late for appointments. my dashboard/clusters were replaced behind the steering wheel area due to signal lights not working. my odometer was replaced on my kia sorento altering the actual mileage (my 'speedometer replacement record' on the inside was filled in by an authorized kia dealer). now we have yet another recall on my vehicle for adding front spring protection recall # sc091. i'm sure i have left off a couple of repairs, but this is just ridiculous. i bought a new car so i could avoid constant waiting at vehicle repair/service departments. i really wish they would just replace my 2011 vehicle; i do not want to be cut short when trading my vehicle some years from now due to an inaccurate odometer reading and transmission problems. *tr

2011 kia sorento [xxx], having issues with vehicle pulling off to the right while driving at various speeds on various roads/highways. said vehicle was brought back to dealership service department to look at alignment. service department's work resulted in vehicle alignment worse than before. returned vehicle back to dealer service department, had several (dealership service advisor, dealership service manager, kia district service manager) all look at and drove vehicle and noticed issue. dealership service manager stated that he drove several other 2011 sorento's and noticed a couple of 4 cylinder versions with same issue, and one without the issue. dealership service manager contacted sister dealership and was informed that they also had a similiar issue with one of their 2011 sorento's. dealership service department and district manager states vehicle has been put back to factory specs, however, upon customer driving vehicle again along with the dealeship service manager, the said vehicle still pulls to the right significantly. case number ([xxx]) has been established by kia consumer headquarters. field tech rep has been contacted to look into vehicle issue. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

Something loose on right front wheel of my 2011 kia sorento. there is a clunking sound like something is wrong. kia claims they are all like that but a new car should not fall apart after 3000 miles. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2011 kia sorento. the contact stated that when he took his foot off the accelerator pedal and let the vehicle coast, it seemed as if the brake pedal was being depressed when traveling between 30-40 mph. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealership where the contact was informed that the engine was breaking due to the torque converter. the dealer took the vehicle for a 23 mile drive and that although the failure did occur, it was normal. the contact was concerned that he could possibly lose control of the vehicle. the failure mileage was 14. the current mileage was 1,900.

Took possession of 2011 kia sorrento on 2-18-2010. since that time there have been 14 instances when the car hesitated almost dying out and then surging forward. at one time it died completely out and had to be restarted while being in the lane of oncoming traffic. twice it hesitated and surged ahead 4 - 5 consecutive times before settling down, once while crossing over a 4 lane highway. it has been back to the kia dealership 3 times and they cannot duplicate the problem, so they claim we do not have a problem. we are very concerned about this and believe it is a safety issue and my wife will not drive the car until this is resolved. updated 03/16/10 *bf *tr updated ivoq 07/16/10*jb

My 2011 kia sorento 2.4 l w/ auto tranny fwd was fixed on recall almost two months ago.after driving 26 days i had bad accident. from my house to work i stopped at mcdonald rest. to buy breakfast. i got on, started my vehicle, step on my brakes to engage in reverse, the vehicle start shaking, reversed, span 360 degrees, hit the railings and ramp of the restaurant and drive forward in the middle of the parking lot. it stop because the two control arm/axles were damaged. i was shaken and it was hard to remember what really happened what i explained was the same as what the witness saw while lining up on the drive thru to order her breakfast. the witness came over and helped me. the damaged was so expensive that i have to fix the damage thru my insurance. i had the vehicle fixed by reliable shop not by kia dealership in order for me to verify if the accident was the cause of the recall repair. i almost forgot that on the early morning before the accident the vehicle reversed from my garage @ unreasonable speed that i have to control by applying the brakes. the vehicle is drivable and i am still waiting for some parts from kia. do i have to notify kia what happened or wait until the problem happen again. what is your advise. as of now i am driving the vehicle and i have phobia everytime i back up, at least i am aware what happened. thank you *tr
