We have classified the 4 complaints from 2006 Kia Sedona about EQUIPMENT into the following categories.
I have a 2006 kia sedona minivan and i have had multiple issues with the alternator and battery systems. on more than one occasion my vehicle has stalled on the freeway when the alternator stopped charging the battery and power ran out. before this happens, i see all the light indicators on the dashboard for monitored systems go on, such as the abs, tpms, hand brake, esc etc. i have had the alternator replaced once already and it has broken down a second time. i have the battery replaced atleast 3/4 times already. i am not sure if this is an electrical/wiring defect with my specific vehicle or a defect in the parts or design of the vehicle itself. although i have luckily not had any accidents while these events occurred, i was driving on the freeway both times the alternator conked out and things could easily have ended differently. *tr
Problems: air bag light on again. has been repaired by dealer several times. ac does not blow cold continually and has been repaired several times. new compressor, additional freon, etc. horn malfunctioning again. transmission problem - the vehicle "bangs or slams" when you come down a hill to a stop. when slowing down to a stop light it actually has a surge or acceleration. this vehicle only has 64000 on it and the brakes have been serviced several times (front and rear). now when i am driving i get a terrible grinding feeling - and at a higher speed on the highway when you go to slow down faster it vibrates terribly. also the braking is terrible at higher speeds. also had problems with the actuator repair/replaced several times, horn not sounding properly, air bag light (repaired several times), cruise control issues (won't maintain speed - accelerates or decelerates), battery or electrical issues (told to replace battery which i did & paid for), headlight issues (have replaced lights several times), vibration on highway (new tires and tires have been rebalanced. alignment done). after reviewing multiple websites on kia reviews, these above items are very common experiences for kia sedona owners. i wanted to make you aware of these items since i feel that if consumers do not notify the authorities nothing will be corrected or known. i have really noticed in the last few months, almost immediately after passing the warranty mark, the vehicle has taken a turn for the worse and problems seem to be escalating. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2006 kia sedona lx. the vehicle has a remote starter manufactured by audiovox, model number pro9556. when the contact pre-started her vehicle inside her home with the device, she noticed that the vehicle switched into gear. she drove backwards and crashed into another place of residence. after inspecting the vehicle, the contact noticed that the starter device allowed the vehicle to shift into gears without having a key in the ignition when pressure was applied to the brake pedal. as a consequence, the vehicle could easily be stolen and increased the risk of a crash or serious injury. she notified the manufacturer of the equipment and the vehicle, but neither sources would assume liability. the contact has pictures of the failed component and the crash. the failure and current mileages were 40,000. updated 12/11/08 *bf the vehicle came out of park without the keys being in the ignition. there were also times when the key would get stuck in the ignition. the consumer realized the vehicle could be shifted into reverse without keys. updated 12/11/08 .*jb
I purchased a 2006 kia sedona october 21st of 2006 and ever since then i have had it in for service about 8-9 times. first few times were for the engine light going on all the time. then it was shaking of the vehicle and they did a wheel alignment about two times. took it in again for same shaking problem so they replaced the struts on it. than the horn went out and the under carriage of the vehicle started shaking while trying to accelerate to 50 miles an hour. they replaced some part on the under carriage but the vehicle is still shaking and is still in the shop waiting to hear from kia in the next part to replace or fix. i have had a rental each time which is fine and dandy, they have picked up the cost but it is just getting frustrating to have a brand new vehicle with only 20 miles on it when purchased to be serviced as many times as it has in the past year. somehow i do now know if this vehicle is even road safe anymore!! *tr
Manufacturer defect in air conditioning compressor; i bought my 2006 kia sedona brand new in december. when i began to use the ac in the spring, the driver side was not producing the same cold air as the passenger side or the back ac. i took my vehicle back to dealership twice, the second time i was told that i must have had a collision with some road debris and caused the defect. they stated they put freon in and "it ran out as fast as we put it in" ~ i stated freon is a gas ~ shouldn't it have evaporated? they said it would cost $1100 to fix it, and i stated what about my warranties, they stated that because it was my fault that i had to pay. they told me to contact my insurance company, when i did this the insurance company stated that it would be listed as a collision and my insurance premiums would go up. when i went to pick up my vehicle, i was driving home in 100+ degree temps, through rush hour traffic with my infant; the ac air was hotter than the outside temperature. (i actually made the manager of the store come outside to feel the air before leaving the dealership.) i took my kia to a second dealership who clearly stated as soon as they looked at my vehicle, "oh that is a manufacturer defect", but since the dealership (where i bought my kia) had put into the computer that i had caused the problem, kia would not warranty my part. so much for the warranty and extended warranty!! needless to say, the second dealership added freon and my vehicle still has cold air, that was 9 months ago! the first dealership was also supposed to fix my handles and hood; when i first bought my vehicle, the hood paint was messed up and the plastic on the handles was melted on. it took 2 trips to the dealership and the workmanship substandard! they said they would change out my handles, instead they decided to repaint my handles, what a job they did!! they used spray paint and got droplets all on my inside door panels! i'm finished with kia products! *tr
I was out shopping with my 2 year old twins and my mother and we were in a parking lot loading our stuff in the 2006 kia sedona once again and the van door would not close. it was stuck open....we waited in the kroger parking lot for about 2 and 1/2 hours while no one at obrien kia would come and get myself and my two small children, and the door was wide open, and it was starting to get dark out and the breeze was picking up...we have had the van in obrien 2 other times for the passenger sliding door bouncing back open and not latching (big safety issue, and now the drivers side sliding door won't even shut (another big safety issue) with small children in the car...who's to say it won't happen while we are driving down the highway and when is it going to actually going to get fixed, or does someone have to get killed first!!!! a receptionist from obrien finally came about 2 1/2 hours later and drove my car down a busy street with the side door still open and the headlights turned off, and took it to the shop to be fixed, and i now have a rental car again. they say it will get fixed this time again! *jb
