Tl*the contact owns a 2005 kia sedona. while driving between 55-65 mph, the brakes pulse whenever the contact is driving downhill. she has taken the vehicle to the shop for the failure. the mechanic repeatedly states that the squeaking is normal and a part of normal wear and tear. the contact believes that the failure is a manufacturer defect because the vehicle only has 17,000 miles. the current mileage is 17,000 and failure mileage was 3,000.

Brake rotors warping. been in the shop 4 times and doing it again. first time was at 1,982 miles then again at 3,895 miles again at 8,190 mile again at 14,285 miles and now again at 18,000 miles. they have resurfaced(x2) replaced the rotors (x1) the rotors and replaced the pads all 4 times. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 kia sedona. while driving 50 mph, the contact depressed the brake pedal and the front end of the vehicle shook violently. the dealer stated that the cause of failure was unknown, however, they replaced the rotors. the failure continued and the drums and pads were replaced. this did not correct the failure and the vehicle has not been repaired. the current mileage was 42,000 and failure mileage was 4,000. updated 12/12/2007 *bf the consumer stated kia does not have a fix for this and denies there is a problem. updated 12/12/07 *tr

I bought my very first new vehicle in sept 2005, and had my first auto accident less than six weeks later. i was on my way to work on friday, oct 28, 2005. i came upon a vehicle stopped in my lane. i put the brakes on, and left a small skid mark. i had plenty of room to stop my vehicle, but was unable to. once i pressed the brakes, i realized i wasn't slowing down and pressed harder on them. there was some jerking and it felt like i was hopping up the road. my vehicle never slowed down at all. needless to say, i crashed into the rear end of the stopped car. it caused major damage to my front end, and damage to the back of the other vehicle. also, my airbag did not deploy. my vehicle is currently at the body shop waiting to be looked at, but they are estimating the cost at $8,000 or more in damage. i really feel angry about this because i am a cautious driver, and i feel this accident was not my fault. i feel the brakes on my van did not function properly. *nm

Dt*: the contact stated the rotors were warped because the rear brakes were not adjusted correctly causing the rotors and brake pads to be defective. the vehicle has been looked at five different times and the dealer was unable to resolve the issue. the vehicle has not been in an accident. the contact expressed the brakes were manufactured incorrectly.

From the beginning of the purchase in october, 05, i have had pulsating brakes that don't want to stop on contact. the local dealer informed me there was a part coming out to replace/repair and as soon as it was out, i would be one of the first to get my vehicle fixed. every 3-4 000 miles at oil change and tire rotation, i have had work done on my brakes and kia has covered the cost. every time i go in and complain, they fix the problem and tell me it's still in "process". when my vehicle rolled over 60,000 miles, the warranty expired and now kia is telling me they will no longer cover the cost to repair this ongoing manufacture problem. *jb

From the first day i drove my 2005 kia sedona off the lot it has vibrated when the brakes are used. even after having them replaced it continues to vibrate so i did not realize it was a big big problem until i started to read the reports on it now i cannot wait till i have it paid for so i can buy something else...the brakes also make a moaning noise and/or squealing noise...this is not all the time but it is aggravating ...will no buy kia product again...the only reason i got this one was there was not much choice after katrina hit and now i am stuck with it for a few more years...why won't they find a fix for it before some one is really hurt. *tr

A regular maintenance at the dealership caused a defect in my vehicle's brakes, a tire rotation defect and a steering problem(vehicle keeps on pulling to the right and brake pedal too soft and almost touches the floor when used-brake ineffective). the dealer did not show any signs of concern about the safety of the vehicle despite several attempts to address the issue. no choice but to contact company's headquarters. *jb

Dt: the contact stated when brake were applied the vehicle shook in front. replaced the pads and rotors twice within a week. the rotors were warped, and need to be replaced again. dealer said they were going to call a representative to handle the case. manufacturer said this is not a manufacturer's defect. *ak

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 kia sedona. the contact stated that the brake rotors on the vehicle were warped within two thousand miles. the contact has taken the vehicle back to the dealer repeatedly for the failure. the contact stated that after the vehicle was no longer under warranty, they purchased after market rotors that warped as well. the manufacturer also redesigned a rotor that warped as well. the contact stated that every rotor placed on the vehicle warped within ten thousand miles. when the rotor warped, it made the vehicle extremely hard to handle. this problem had also caused the vehicle to need to new tires and an alignment. the contact was concerned since the vehicle became extremely difficult to control when the failure occurred. the vin was not available. the failure mileage was 9500. the current mileage was 100,000.

Dt: while going 45mph consumer's vehicle was hit head on. upon impact, the air bags did not deploy. this happened on august 19, 2005. the brakes locked and slid into the vehicle. called kia, and they said they will call the consumer. *ak

Have a 2005 kia sedona and the van has 22,000 and has been in the repair shop for brake problems over 6 times. since 8/05 has been back in for service for oil leaks, remote problems, tire problems. the rotors have been changed, the pads, everything has been done but after a little time passes the noise and the pulsating comes back. the van starts to pull when you go to put on the breaks and it makes noises. keep bring it back to the dealership and they fix it with new brakes, rotors, pads but the problem keeps coming back and back. should not have had to replace the brakes and pads, and rotors so many times with very little mileage on it. *jb updated 12/12/07 *tr

Tl* - the contact called regarding a 2005 kia sedona. the contact stated that a pulsating noise was heard when braking. the failure mileage was 8,882. there were no warning indicators. the dealer diagnosed the failure as warped rotors. the rotors were resurfaced, but the noise returned at 12,782 miles. the dealer replaced the front rotors. the contact stated that at 25,000 the problem returned and the rotors were resurfaced. the contact believed that there was a defect that was making the rotors wear out prematurely. the current mileage was 35000.*ak consumer states wheels torque 100 ft ltrs when applying brakes at 40 mph. the consumer states that service dept. informed her if pads are put on rotors are automatically resurfaced, service dept can only resurface rotors twice then they have to be replaced and customer informed afterward thats why rotors had to be replaced on 3/5. update *4/16tr

Dt: caller said at 4950 miles vehicle started wobbling. this happened when applying the brakes to slow down. when he took it to the dealer, they said the rotors were warped, and had them replaced. currently, at 8490 miles is having the same problem. he has not gone back to the dealer yet. manufacturer has not been contacted yet. the first time was on 7-27-05 the second time was on 8-20-05.*ak

Dt*: the contact stated a month after the vehicle was purchased, a roaring sound was heard everytime the brakes were applied. the vehicle was taken to the dealer 4 times after this incident. the dealer determined the vehicle was operating normally. there was no incident of brake failure. there are also problems with adjusting the driver side seat backwards. the vehicle was taken to dealer in april 2006 who could not duplicate the problem. the dealer also located recalls for driver side seats but the vin number of this vehicle was not included in the recall.

Around 4500 miles had vibration when braking. dealer said that it was caused by warped rotors. they were replaced. not two months later i had the same problem. had to pay for rotors to be machined. same week, rotors had to be machined again. one month later same problem. had to pay to replace the pads. *jb

Dt: the consumer owns a 2005 kia sedona. she purchased the vehicle on 6-20-05, and twenty minutes after she drove the car off the lot, the radio quit working along with the ignition light illuminating. the consumer took the vehicle back to the dealership, and they could not service the car that day but made an appointment to come back on 6-22-05. the dealership kept the vehicle for three days. on 7-26-05 the brake went all the way to the floor and made a loud ticking noise while turning. the consumer took the vehicle to another dealership for repairs, and they resurfaced the brakes and the ignition. on 7-31-05 the brakes failed. the consumer tried to pump the brakes and they would not catch. to keep from hitting the vehicle in front, she veered to the left and ran onto the median, causing two blow outs on the driver's front and rear. the consumer had the vehicle towed to aaa, and they replaced one of the tires and placed the spare on the vehicle. there where no injuries in this accident. also, one of the tires in the accident looked as if someone had taken a knife and cut the tire. the cut was so clean that the dealership refused to repair the tire or the rim. the consumer had to buy a new tire and rim. on 8-18-05 the van was taken back to kia,. the consumer was given a rental car. the consumer had gotten the vehicle back on august 28, 2005. on 8-19-05 the consumer received a recall letter concerning the gas pedal and braking problems. *ak (11/30/05) the emission light had come on and smoke was seen coming from under the vehicle, there was a loud ticking sound heard when turning the steering and a coil was repaired as a result, the grease seal leaked and there was a hesitation when the vehicle kicked into gear. *sc

Break vibration, and difficulty in stopping near accidents, but did not crash.

Purchased vehicle in 5/2005. returned to dealer in august at 3500 miles, for brake noise. was told the rotors were warped from sitting on the lot before the sale of the vehicle. rotors were turned. noise stopped for a month or so. dealer went out of business, went to another dealer because of loud noise from brakes, sounded like a large truck when stopping. initially was told the mechanic couldn't find anything wrong, but after test driving it, they replaced pads. noise stopped briefly, but then the vehicle was over the 12k warranty for the brakes. i've had the car at my mechanics shop twice. he said the rear brakes are very large for this car, and front brakes are tiny with cheap shoes. brakes make noise all the time, and the car shutters when stopping at high speeds or going downhill. problem still not resolved. *jb

The day i purchased my 2005 kia sedona the radio stopped working. that was replaced, then the lighter went. again the radio and then within the first three weeks the brakes and front end which has been the ongoing problems and concern to date. with numerous trips up until 9/05 and my taking it to yet another dealer 9/05-1/06 leading to it blowing out a tire and now them telling me all along of course that nothing is outside of "normal" or their fault etc. however buying this vehicle new and it sounding and like something i've never heard before (and i've driven for 20 years many types of cars new and very old!) let alone the way it shakes.. yet they always led me to believe i was nuts. they did replaced the rotors finally only after i took it to someone else who documented it needed it and i took it back with the paper work and that wasn't until august (i bought it in may) and they'd blown me off for two months. i've called kia main office who also is making it not their problem it's a "normal" wear issue. there is no car that sounds and feels like this upon braking. reading your site at least i know i'm not alone finally which is what *they* want you to think! *nm

Bought van new. at 9k started vibrating. took to dealer and they replaced rotors. again at 20k. then they replaced the rear drums for vibrating. then they turned rotors and drums to correct vibration. mechanics and service managers all tell me it's a known problem because vans weight was increase to get better safety rating, but they used light weight brakes and they can't handle the heavier van and overheat and warp. after all this, they tell me know that they won't cover to fix issue any more, saying it isn't a safety issue. if they rotors/drums aren't sufficient to stop vehicle correctly, seems to be a safety issue to me. need to have this investigated and action taken. i have opened a case w/ kia corp. to review and make a decision. please contact me for further details or more info. thanks. *jb

Dt: the contact states shas been having problems with brakes since april or may 2005. the brakes were squeaking and the rotors were warped. the dealership told the contact that the rotors were warped from the boat where the car had been shipped. they replaced the rotors. also, they replaced the brakes and the pads. in addition, filed some kind of clips and dusted the pads. she has had the brakes worked on or repaired a total of five-six times since april. right now the brakes were jerking badly when she stopped. the rubber piece that goes around the window to seal the window was bad. the piece would roll up either on the outside or the inside of the window. . they ordered a different piece three times and still have not had it fixed.*ak
