Car just loses power then has an acceleration of power where it is out of control. this is a 2006 kia amanti and has the problem since we bought it 2 years ago. kia has not been able to fix it even though we have had it at the dealer's several time. what happens is you try to accelerate and there is no power, then the car has a power surge which takes the driver unaware. this is a very dangerous situation. it only occurs about once a month and the dealer says they can't duplicate the problem. they have changed the throttle sensor the last time and it didn't fix the problem. *tr
Our 2006 kia amanti occasionally will, when starting from a stopped position, will initially hesitate as if its going to stall..., then lunge/accelerate quickly forward. i've mentioned it to the dealers, but because it doesn't happen often, i've never really pressed them on this.., but after reading the same complaint at this site, i wanted to document we also have experienced this. it probably occurs approx once every month, over the past couple years. it is potentially a dangerous condition, as the car could jump forward and hit pedestrians crossing in front of the car, or rear end cars near the front of the vehicle. *tr
