After going to dealership and getting death wobble fixed vehicle by removing and reinstalling the steering dampener the correct way and exhibited the same issue and once again almost caused an accident vehicle travelling at 50 mph on highway 290 holy cross corner and vehicle started to shake and wobble uncontrollably had to slow down to 30mph to make the problem go away called dealership and they stated that they would need to order a new steering dampener

Second attempt at recall by dealer, dealer is claiming faulty parts by fca. within 12 miles of driving the jeep after recall was completed for a second time death wobble is back. happens when going over bridges on highway at around 72 mph. exterior temp 31. shake happens till speed is dropped to below 60 mph.
After recall for death wobble, repair made condition worse, at highway speed when hitting bumps in road, requires dropping speed to below 50 mph to get shaking to stop
While driving at speeds above 20 mph on the highway the car goes into a death wobble where it feels like the car is going to fall apart. the car shakes and the steering ability becomes unstable. the steering wheel shakes with the car and we need to get to the shoulder and stop. it happens randomly and at variable speeds. the dealer tries to appease us with fixes that do nothing to correct the problem. they claim that it is not dangerous and does not do anything to the effectiveness of the car. the car was purchased new a few months ago and it has been brought to the dealer three times for this issue without any fix (most recently december 24, 2019) where they changed out a steering damper based upon a recall. this did not correct the problem.following that we were driving the car on vacation through the desert and the car went into a death wobble 10 times while on the highway. upon returning home we contacted the dealer and informed them of these multiple episodes. the vehicle is going back in on january 6, 2020. at this point the car is unsafe to drive. we were not informed prior to our purchase about this dangerous issue with the wrangler.
I own. a 2019 jeep wrangler jv. with 17000 miles on it. no modification while driving in the freeway at 70 miles a hour just pass a bride hit a bride strapping bump the jeep was almost out control extreme shaking of the steering wheel and vehicle. i tense up for fears of losing control i have to slow down to 30 mph for it to stop. this scary.. when you have you family with you.
Once i hit a speed of 70mph on the highway and if i hit the slightest bump, my entire jeep starts to shake violently. if i keep my foot on the gas at my steady speed, it just gets worse. the only thing i can do is take my foot off the gas, hold on for dear life, and hope i don't crash bc at that point i have no control. i cannot merge into other lanes to try to make it off the highway for safety and i can't do anything accept wait for the violent shaking to stop. also to hope all vehicles surrounding me that are going high speeds are paying attention since my speed drastically changes and they don't crash into me. i have two toddlers and they scream and their heads are jolted from side to side in their car seats as i wait for it to stop. this happens almost, if not all, any time i go above 70 miles an hour and there is a bump in the road. it has not been one time only. i no longer can drive my brand new jeep wrangler on the highway and i do not take my toddlers in the car on the highway anymore. i am a single mother and i committed to the large monthly auto loan payments to ensure my kids would be safe while driving and i would have a dependable vehicle. i have neither but i still have the large monthly payment.
I am experiencing the death wobble. it happened once a few weeks ago and then nearly five times in a 180 mile drive. each time nearly caused and accident and the potential complete loss of control. this occurred at seven speeds ranging from 55 to 75 and when hitting small road imperfections.
Tl* the contact owns a 2019 jeep wrangler. while driving 60 mph over a bump in the road, the vehicle experienced the "death wobble". the contact needed to reduce his speed to regain control of the vehicle. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the contact stated that he experienced the failure multiple times. the contact called safford chrysler jeep dodge ram fiat of springfield (located at 7611 loisdale rd, springfield, va 22150, (703) 866-1700) and informed them of the failures. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified. the failure mileage was 4,800.
I was driving on the highway with the speed about 63 mile/hr, and suddenly my front tirer, and my steering wheel was violently shaking. i had to slow it down, and pulled over. i thought i got flat tire or something. i googled, and find out a lot people have this problem also. it's called "dead wobble".
As i was traveling down interstate 20 in columbia, south carolina traveling at approximately 60 mph, i crossed over the bush river road bridge and hit a few small bumps in the road which immediately threw my jeep into very strong vibrations. the vibrations were so strong that i felt the vibrations from the steering wheel up my arms and into my neck. i truly thought i had a flat tire on my jeep. after approximately 15 - 20 seconds of these intense vibrations, the vibrations stopped on their own. i crossed over three lanes of traffic to pull over to inspect my jeep noticing nothing abnormal. all tires have normal, recommend manufactured psi. i have all stock items on my jeep with no alterations to the suspension system, tires, etc. the vehicle has less than 13,500 miles on it and was newly purchased earlier this year at more than $55,000.
While driving on a highway at approximately 62 miles per hour, after a transition on a rough patch of highway road (uneven blacktop) the vehicle began to violently shake. the shaking felt horizontal as well as vertical. it stopped and then started again over the course of one to two miles. it was very violent and disruptive to the driver and passenger causing them to feel unsafe and unwell. the driver had to hang on tight to the steering wheel to maintain control of the jeep. we have no idea if/when this situation will reoccur and what damage has been done by this to a relatively new vehicle of less than 7000 miles. this was in dry weather on dry roads. we were driving straight, in a right lane and not turning at the time.
I have issues with the front end when driving at normal highway speeds and hit a bump in the road. the front end starts violently shaking from side to side. i have experienced this 2 times this week and both times almost got into an accident because it through me across the highway. this is a 2019 with less than 8,000 miles on it. i also have made no modifications to it- standard factory stock model. i came home and googled what happened and am now learning this is the jeep death wobble. why in the world is this vehicle allowed to be driven with such a known issue?!
Tl* the contact owns a 2019 jeep wrangler. while driving approximately 65 mph, the vehicle suddenly began to shake and vibrate violently. the cause of the failure was not determined. koons tysons chrysler dodge jeep and ram (2050 chain bridge rd, vienna, va) and the manufacturer were notified of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the vin was not available. the failure mileage was 2,000.
At speeds of 45-55 any bump or expansion joint on highway causes shaking in steering wheel for a sustained period of time. it lasts well beyond the impact and if i maintain speeds the shaking in the wheel and front end continues. i have to actually slow down on the highway for the shaking to go away. i do no't feel safe traveling with this vehicle on the highway and have a pit in my stomach thinking about others who may have this issue. i wish i had known about these issues before i bought the 2019 jeep wrangler unlimited sahara. my jeep only has 1,300 miles on it.
Vehicle constantly pulls to the right on street and highway. dealer cannot fix with alignment. changed gearbox. swapped brakes. nothing has solved problem.
This enterprise rent a car owned jeep has under 14,000 miles on the odometer. at highway speed above about 70 mph, a small bump or trigger such as an overpass expansion joint, initiates violent shaking and bouncing of the front end. the shaking does not dissipate until the vehicle is slowed to about 30 mph. this problem is easily repeatable. highway speed + little trigger yields violent shaking. the shaking is so strong that 2 hands on the wheel are needed to keep the vehicle from careening out of control.
On september 24, 2019, i rented a 2019 jeep wrangler in las vegas, nevada. over the course of 8 days this vehicle had three incidents of extreme steering system vibration, aka, death wobble. these incidents occurred on paved highways while traveling at 45mph, 60 mph and 65 mph. during these episodes of death wobble, the vehicle began to shake violently, similar to experiencing a tire blowout and was difficult to keep under control. applying the brakes slowly took the vehicle out of the wobble once the speed was reduced to about 10 mph. fortunately no injuries or damage occurred as a result of these incidents, however these were extremely violent episodes and could lead to tragic consequences if the necessary repairs are not addressed.
As i drove off the lot i noticed the instrument panel had a distortion on it. dealership was unable to fix (after a software upgrade). more concerning is the car shakes violently when hitting a bump in the road. i took it in 3 times without resolution. always on the highway, at first at high speeds, now even going below the speed limit. sometimes it resolves on it's own, but lately i have to slow down or stop to make the shaking stop. (which is very dangerous when driving on a 65mph highway), the steering wheel shakes left to right and is very loose during these times. i feel very unsafe and it feels like the wheels are going to fall off. this is a brand new vehicle. it happened 5 times on a 15 mile trip to work this morning and has been happening since i bought the car in late february 2019.
I was going around 65 mph on the freeway and i hit a pothole, my jeep started to "death wobble". it stated to violently shake and vibrate almost pulling the steering wheel out of my hand. i slowed down to under 45 mph and it stopped. the violent shaking lasted for about 6-10 seconds. i just purchased the jeep 2 days ago. it is completely stock with the factory tires and the pressure in them was fine. it was also not cold, the high at the time was 97 degrees.
When driving on the highway and we hit a bump or any deformity on the road the jeep would start to wobble uncontrollably it started small at first but it seems to be getting worst and we only had the jeep for 6 months my wife is really scare
I just experienced the death wobble on a highway in columbus ohio. i was driving around 65 and hit a small bump and the car started shaking violently. it did not stop after about 60 seconds so i pulled over to the berm. it scared me to death. i felt like i had no control. i started back up and made it safely to my destination. i plan to call local dealer since i am away from where i purchased it originally.
Steering is weird it randomly jerks to the right and left, i have taken it in multiple times and they can't seem anything wrong with it but it can't be safe that my jeep jerks and veers while driving
Wandering loose dead steering, brand new vehicle with only 176 miles. the vehicle wanders as you drive down the road, trying to stay in a straight line requires much vigilance and attention, if you look down to adjust your temperature or adjust the radio, the vehicle will veer towards another lane of traffic even though you've made no steering input changes, then you need to move the steering wheel 1.5 to 2 inches to start to get steering input to correct the vehicle from the other lane and back into yours. it should be more responsive. the vehicle requires excessive steering and veers on it own. also when driving at highway speeds and you encounter a bump or pothole, the vehicles front end will shake wobble as if you've lost control for one to two seconds, i would hate to encounter this going around a turn at a freeway speed. this brand new vehicle in the year 2019 should not operate this way, it is unsafe for those inside the vehicle and possible others when it veers on its own.
After about 2700 miles on the odometer our stock jeep wrangler unlimited rubicon with no aftermarket parts started to have very poor steering, and was hard to keep in our lane. it also started to have the steering wheel shake back and forth fast when hitting an expansion join in the road or a bridge. the jeep is now difficult to keep in our lane, and is very difficult to drive on narrow, windy or roads with construction. we were almost in multiple accidents once this started on a road trip. this issue gets worse and worse with speed. you can grab the tie rods ends and track bar and other steering components and they all now have like 1/8 in of play at each end. you can easily shake them up and down / back and forth. this was not an issue for the first 2500 or so miles. this is a very dangerous situation as at times you have to slow down very fast due to the steering wheel shaking. also, it veers from side to side due to the loose steering where you can move the steering wheel over 1 1/2 inches without the tires moving at all. i have videos of all these issues occurring, and you can also see the steering components moving when the steering wheel is turned before the play is out and the wheels move. we are now scared to drive our vehicle due to our safety and the safety of others on the road.
Tl* the contact owns a 2019 jeep wrangler. the contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle drifted from side to side and was difficult to drive in a straight line. the cause of the failure was not determined. the manufacturer and local dealer was not yet notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 400.
Stealing unstable wobble on highway speeds. danger due to need to rapidly slow down in traffic to correct situation.
In december, on two different occasions, i experienced what i have come to find out is known as the 'death wobble' in my new wrangler jl. after going over a series of small bumps on a highway at 65-70mph, my jeep went into a violent shaking episode. i actually thought one of the wheels was coming off. the dealership said that this could be repaired by replacing the stabilizer bar with a heavier duty one. they did the repair. on friday of last week, i had 6 episodes of the death wobble in one day. the dealer is taking my jeep back in tomorrow to look at it again. this might be the scariest thing i have experienced in my 30+ years of driving.
Steering issues caused by weak steering components and poor suspension geometry. death wobble and jumpy, loose, wandering steering from factory. brought into dealer may for updated oem trackbar with stiffer bushing update and updated steering stabilizer. this has tightened steering somewhat and reduced the amplitude of death wobble but has not eliminated it. jeep still wanders and jumps onto adjacent lanes when hitting expansion joint on freeway. dealer service manager refuses to consider alternative fixes that have been shown to have positive results for others. wind noise from a pillar and freedom top. dealer noted but failed to fix inadequate defroster channeling results in the defroster only clearing the center of windshield. driver cannot see out of wi shield. design flaw since this is on all 2018 and 2019 jl. dealer refuses to fix fragile windshield glass. service manager ager refuses to consider this an issue eve. though 1000s have lost their windshield and have broken numerous ones in short about ts of time too short lower control armcountry ol arms in not enough caster and lack of a caster adjustment results in poor steering. all above items occur when jeep is in motion and represents ts a hazard on the road. *dt
