Parking brake failed causing vehicle to roll while someone was working under the vehicle. dealer is unable to adjust parking brake to remove slack in parking cables and fca is unwilling to replace the defective parking brake lever that has a failed tensioning spring.
Vehicle failed to stop when brake was applied at intersection. brake pedal was down at floor and it felt as though the abs was kicking on, also the steering was affected. note: brake inspection was done at bill marsh dealership in kalkaska,mi 10 days prior to incident and brakes supposedly were ok
Parked vehicle on a slope in the mountains with the parking brake engaged. the vehicle is an automatic transmission and was in park. immediately following all passengers exiting the vehicle, it slowly started rolling away, backwards. it traveled down a 4wd road a small distance before turning off and tumbling down the mountain. luckily everyone had exited the vehicle and there were no injuries. though we were parked on a slope, probably around 15 degrees, there was complete failure of both the park gear and the parking brake allowing a rollaway. the parking surfaces was a combination solid rock and dirt.

When attempting to brake, the vehicle would not stop. the brake pedal started pumping like the abs system kicked in. the brakes worked as expected minutes later (after rear ending the vehicle in front of me).
I purchased a pre owned certified jeep wrangler from tuttle click in tustin ca and the same day i drove it off the lot it had brake issues. i had to come back twice to the dealership to have them to look at it and it turned out the brake booster was not functioning. i still hear noise from the brakes.
Brake issues the day i drove it off the lot on jan 6th 2017. i took it to tuttle click who i purchased it from and they didn't inspect the vehicle i took it back again and they inspected it and found the brake booster damaged which they advised they repaired. i am still having issues along with additional issues and am concerned. this is a vehicle i purchased for my 16 year old. please help they are refusing to repair or service the vehicle.
Parking brake fails to work even after adjustment
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep wrangler. the contact stated that the rear brake pads wore out prematurely. in addition, the contact mentioned that while replacing the brakes, he noticed that there was a high pressure oil leak coming from the oil filter housing and as a result, it needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not taken to the dealer or repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 41,000.
The abs, stability control and traction lights keep going off and also disabling the speed control while driving. so far jeep has replaced the abs sensors and the stability sensor twice. the car is being driven, usually going off on dry pavement. the jeep also had the computer system shut down the vehicle with a security alert that need a computer update a few months prior.
Incident 1.) on august 17th, 2015 around 8:00 pm i was driving in the left lane of the gsp traveling at approximately 70 mph when my vehicle erroneously accelerated to 80 mph while simultaneously pulling slightly to the left. at first, i thought my carpet had been stuck but i quickly realized that this was not the case. being i had a manual shift, i immediately was able to shift into neutral. in doing so, the engine was still revving high thus making a loud engine sound (i did not get to see the actual rpm.) i began kicking the side of the gas pedal while trying to pull slightly to the right to keep the vehicle on the road. eventually the car just went back to normal. this whole process may have been about twenty to thirty seconds long. incident 2.) on august 18th, 2015 around 6:20 am (not even 12 hours from the first incident above) i was driving in the left lane of the gsp traveling at approximately 70- 75 mph when my vehicle erroneously braked hard as if it was a 'brake check' and the abs traction control light lit at the same time. it was like i slammed on my brakes only this happened while my foot was on the accelerator. i quickly looked in my rear view mirror and saw the car behind me shoot into the adjacent lane to my right in avoidance of a collision with my rear of the vehicle. this happened quickly and harshly and then it was over. i moved into the right lane and continued to work with caution. i called my local jeep service center and explained my situation. they were going to schedule me for the earliest appointment of august 31st 2015 but i stressed that this was not good enough as it was a potential serious safety issue to myself and others. i was directed to bring it in tomorrow 8-19-15 in the morning.
I was driving in my parking garage at about 12mph and went to take a sharp right turn. when i went to make the hard right turn, the brakes seemed to lock up and the car did not stop. i could feel the vibrations through my feet and luckily was still able to steer the vehicle clear of the cement wall. *tr
Purchased a new 2014 jeep wrangler with manual transmission in september 2013. on july 21,2014 i was parking the vehicle and pulled on the parking brake and heard a popping noise. the parking brake failed and will now not hold the vehicle in place. i took the vehicle into a jeep dealership to have the part fixed on july 23, 2014 and was notified that the "parking lever" was broken and needed to be replaced. the replacement part is on "backorder" and the dealer could not give me any timeline on when the part would be replaced. considering this is a manual vehicle, the parking brake is needed to safely operate the vehicle. i have contacted jeep corporate regarding my issue and have received no response. upon doing further research, it appears this issue is common with jeep wranglers and many people have had incidents where their jeep has rolled away. this is a safety issue and could eventually result in an injury or fatality. i do not feel safe operating my jeep wrangler until jeep takes action to fix the problem. *tr
I just drove my vehicle and then parked it at my home on a driveway that has a slight incline. i parked vehicle in 1st gear (6 speed manual transmission), and applied the parking brake. approximately 10 minutes later i was in my yard and heard a muffled pop noise and then a clicking sound that resembled a roller coaster ride when the cars are being pulled up a steep hill. i turned around and saw my vehicle going down the driveway. it collided with my wife's vehicle then hit a tree. the vehicle has 2800 miles on it. when i got in vehicle the shift was in 1st gear, and brake applied. i started the vehicle and let off the clutch and the vehicle moved forward, indicating that it was in fact in first gear still. i duplicated where i parked it again and it moved backwards again. after multiple reenactments the vehicle would move until 3-5 min later it would make a sudden movement in reverse for about 6-12 inches. *tr
Went to stop at light, hit the brake it was hard and did not engage, i stopped because i hit the car in front of me. brakes never engaged, pulled the emergency brake before exiting the vehicle to check on the people in the car in front of me and the brakes seemed to let out air and relax. the brakes felt normal at that point. post accident police escorted be to dealership to make sure that brakes continued to work. dealership claimed nothing wrong, spoke to neutral mechanics and they all stated that it was a problem that would occur again and that the brakes would seem fine in the meantime. explained this to jeep and they said brakes were fine. *tr
