Problems with 2012 Jeep Wrangler FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

On average, the 2012 Jeep Wrangler starts to “feel” problems with the FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM and its various aspects after 48 478 miles.

Under hard acceleration, like passing a car on the highway, the vehicle goes into limp mode which has nearly caused me to wreck 4 to 5 times due to being unable to accelerate. once i pull of the road and restart limp mode goes away but the engine light stays on. the dealership says that the wiring harness is the issue. the vehicle has codes popping up about torque management. i would like for this to be fixed free of charge due to the wiring harnesses being an integral part if this vehicle.

Jeep was getting over 20mpg then suddenly started dropping at a rapid rate now 1yr after purchase is getting average 12.9mtg. down to 9mtg. highway or torrevieja doesn't appear to effect these numbers, not in wrong gears, oil changes current, tires balanced and air correct.

Engine light continues to come on after several repairs a sensor was replaced. the engine light is on again i have read several reviews as to cyclinders are misfiring this is a manufacturing problems that needs addressed by the manufacturer

Fuel is over flowing from filler tube when at the gas station. fuel runs down the side of vehicle and on to the ground. this happens almost every time i fill up.

Personal mechanic has noticed oil filter housing is leaking and has a high chance to be fire hazard without warning.

When i fill-up my gas tank, the pump does not shut off properly and gas overflows tank, spilling onto rear quarter panel, bumper, and ground surface. at time of fill-up, vehicle is stationary, parking break on, and engine off. this occurs practically every time i fill up gas tank, and occurs at different gas stations. hence, this problem is not caused by the gas station pumps, and appears to be caused by my vehicle not shutting off pump before gas overflows tank. i researched this online, and it appears this problem is common to jeep wrangler owners, and jeep is aware of the problem, but has not done anything to fix problem. overall, the overflowing of gas from tank upon each fill-up presents a significant risk to vehicle owners and gas station attendants (note: i live in nj, and state law required gas station attendants, i.e., not vehicle owners, to pump all gas into vehicles). i believe jeep should do something to correct this problem, and understand that they initiated a voluntary recall for 2007 to 2009 jeep wranglers, but not later models.

Gas tank crack leaks fumes, also the transmission pops out while driving and dealership would not fix under warranty because they said it didn't happen when repairman test drove it. now its completely blown out does not work has 36,700. miles on it 700 miles past warranty and one year pass warranty. these are two defective parts and either could run you off the road and gas leak blow up your car. my guess is these parts are made in china. we all have to pay for this with our safety and our lives in some cases.

While turning to park the engine throttle suddenly accelerated & jeep jumped the curb, crashed thru a fence & ended up in the ocean. we were rescued by dana point harbor patrol.

The vehicle power abruptly drops while driving losing anywhere from 100 to 500 rpms. if the vehicle is stopped at a signal or traveling at lower speeds the power drop will shut down the vehicle. the problem is random and very unsafe

While being towed by our rv on a city street, a fire started under the hood of the jeep. the transfer case was in neutral. the manual transmission was in neutral. the ignition switch was turned 1 notch to accessory to unlock the steering. the fire was extinguished by the fire department. no police report was filed because the fire was not caused by an accident. because of the severity of the fire damage, no cause of the fire was determined.

When i fill up at the gas station, and the fuel pump clicks off, fuel spills out everywhere. every single time.

Bad fuel pump

When filling the gas tank, once it reaches the full point, it fails to trigger the fuel pump to stop in time and fuel spills all over the side of the rear fender. it does this every single time i fill up.

Jeep was stalling. head was replaced under warranty. one month later jeep still randomly stalls at idle / stop lights. now it is starting to cut out at road speeds.

Vehicle engine light came on after starting engine and driving 30 feet from initial parked location. vehicle was stopped and explosion occurred under the hood while driver was still in vehicle. no previous indication there was any issue with vehicle. upon driver emergency exit of vehicle, further explosions and large flames engulfed the vehicle resulting in a total loss of vehicle within minutes.

I bought this wrangler on 5-30-2015. the first time i took it to fill up the gas tank, i was exposed to the fact that the tank does not shut off and overflows all over the jeep (and me). this has happened everytime we go to fill up, to where we have to watch the fuel level on the instrument panel to make sure it does not get all the way to full. this indeed happened again just a week ago sunday when we went to fill up and i was speaking with a gentlemen who had just bought his jeep and i was talking to him about his and if he has had issue with his gas tank overflowing. as i was talking to him yep, you guessed it, it overflowed. now, i read today that chrysler has said that it has to do with the type of fuel you put into the tank?? really??? so i have put in anywhere from 85, 87, 90, and higher grade fuels, and it still happens? next are they going to say it is the gas station company i go to? the way i put the nozzle into the tank? (does this sounds sarcastic when you read it? good) i find that comment from chrysler absolutely demeaning and idiotic!!! it has been a known issue on several previous models of jeeps, but for some reason they are going to ignore this one? what will it take chrysler? will it take a class action lawsuit to get your company to fix the problem? i now just read a reply that someone had contacted a law firm in regards to a class action suit and that it had been transferred to bankruptcy court in new york where it was still alive and that the court had granted chrysler's motion to dismiss stating they are barred by the sale order between bankrupt chrysler and the new chrysler. wow!!! great business model. lets file bk. (one of the questions asked at the bottom of this complaint form is when did this happen? every time i fill up since 5-30-2015!!!

Gas spills out of the gas tank when filling up. happens at different gas stations, both with the handle clipped in the pump position and also when gripped by hand throughout. very dangerous as it has gotten on my hands and clothes and all over the car. very flammable situation. *tr

Update to complaint number 10692609 regarding the check engine light and codes p0441 and p0445. a new mopar gas cap has taken care of the problem. two after market gas caps, purchased new, were faulty right out of the box. the new mopar gas cap has cleared the codes. apparently not all gas caps are vehicle specific... *tr

My check engine light came on. the codes were p0441 and p0445, both having to do with the evap system. *tr

The fuel code shows incomplete and fails to reset. *tr

When filling it up with gas the nozzle which stop after it get full, but then the gas from the jeep gushes out of filler tube almost a gallon goes on jeep and on the ground. *tr

I recently bought this vehicle as a used car. the fuel overflow valve does not work causing gas to spill out onto the car and ground every time i fill up the car. this is obviously an environmental and fire hazard. the jeep internet forums are full of postings of the same issue with several wrangler models and years and the recommendation is to replace the filler tube containing the check valve. it is obvious that this is a defective part and the manufacturer should issue a recall and repair the problem for free. *tr

When adding fuel to the vehicle, after the initial pump shutoff when removing the pump from the fuel inlet, the gasoline come back out under pressure and soaks the operator. this has happened consistently since the initial episode. it makes no difference whether the fuel is pumped slowly or fast. this vehicle has been returned to a dealer for inspection. no immediate cause has been found. *tr

Recall notice sent from chrysler in september 2013. been waiting for parts to be sent to dealership since that date. called adams jeep again today and they still do not have parts from chrysler to correct the transmission line recall problem. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 jeep wrangler. the contact stated that an extremely strong odor of gasoline emitted inside and outside of the vehicle continuously. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for diagnosis. the manufacturer was not notified of the problem. the approximate failure mileage was 3,000. the vin was unavailable.

I was driving in 4 low in 90 degree and 3000 feet elevation gain. i could smell a strong gas vapor. it was in the cab and outside. it is due to the design of the evap system. the jkdepends on a spring valve to relieve excessive pressure/vacuum in the fuel system. the esim is a crude device meant to meet monitoring requirements. the reality is on hot day when vapors are prevalant, especially in 4wd low when the vehicle is moving slow and the engine are high revs are high you may smell fuel. this really bothered me with my family on board. *tr

When you fill the gas tank, there is always a spill over of gas that comes out. i have researched this and it is a very common issue with jeep owners. please force a recall. it is very dangerous to have fuel all over the side of the car and on the floor every time i fill up for gas. *tr
