My airbag indicator warning light has been chiming, blinking on and off. from doing research online there have been a couple of recalls for the clock spring but not for the year of my 2010 jeep wrangler. *tr
Went to leave a parking lot and the air bag warning light came on, then it went off, then it came on. it has continued to do this since the incident date. *tr
Air bag light came on while driving. clockspring module is bad. *tr
The clock spring unit is experiencing a broken airbag circuit. the airbag indicator repeatedly chimes and illuminates a dash panel indicator. there is already a recall for rhd, but not for lhd. the same problem exists on lhd. there are many complaints on this and well know issue among jeep owners. please chrysler, fix this defect. additionally my horn has never operated properly; it either doesn't activate when pressed or will remain on after pressed and you have to hit the horn over an over to get it to stop. also my cruise control has stopped working. all of these go through the clock spring. *tr
Want to update odi #10629109 with this information: airbag warning light eliminated and started a sequence of 2 bells, light on for aprx 10 seconds, then off for same, then sequence starts again. dealer diagnosed a broken clock spring but my vin not included in recall info i provided them. contacted manufacturer and filed complaint, they said this recall was for rhd vehicles and i disagreed according to the nhtsa investigation; action #pe11019 and recall #11v52800. when asked what grievance process was available to me, she said none. complaint #25543107 was filed and she said i will be contacted if my vin is added to the recall. she could not tell me why would my vehicle did not qualify for the recall? i paid for the repairs and retained the broken part;, which the tec said was clearly broken while still in the column and came out in pieces. while the warning lamp was eliminated it affected the stability of the vehicle and caused sway or wandering when at high speed on the freeway. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 jeep wrangler. while driving approximately 65 mph, the air bag warning indicator illuminated. the failure occurred multiple times. the dealer stated that the clock spring was fractured and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired and the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 60,300...updated 09-24-14 *bf updated 02/25/2015*js
Airbag warning light would come on intermittently. *tr
My airbag warning light keeps illuminating on off every few seconds which indicates my airbags are not functioning properly. *tr
While driving my air bag light came on. when i turn right it goes out. as i straighten out it comes back on. research says it's a clock spring sensor or module based on how it goes on and off when the wheel is turned. contacted my local dealership and was told that this is not a warranty issue and that it would cost around $400 for the part and labor. this is a device that has been recalled on many other jk jeeps, yet there is no recall on the 2010. additionally i have a certified pre-owned warranty and they said it isn't covered under that warranty either. this is crazy. *tr
I have had several big issues with my jeep in the last month and a half. first my brake caliper and piston were frozen due to the fluids not flowing properly according to my mechanic. 2 weeks later my airbag light came on and stayed on brought it into the dealership and they needed to replace my clock spring and the third issue was my engine light that came on and then my car would not start. i needed to replace my alternator which was faulty and then drained my battery which i also had to replace. these three issues have cost me over $1000.00 dollars in a short period of time. i was wondering if any of them are a issue with my make and model and year of my vehicle. this is becoming i safety issue in my eyes. especially my brakes and airbag issue. *tr
Air bag warning light is flashing on and off . it will sometimes come on when engine is started or after driving a few seconds. it goes on and off ten or twelve seconds at a time. there is a recall on the wrangler with right hand drive for a faulty clock spring. the same part is most likely in the left hand drive vehicles. there are probably many more left hand drive vehicles in the u.s. *tr
My wife and children where driving and the air bag light went off and a chime was audible. now my wife is scared to drive the vehicle because of the fear of the air bag deploying with no warning or if she is in a crash it won't deploy at all. this is a known problem with all jeeps from 2007-2011, i cannot believe this severe safety issue will not be covered by chrysler. how about the executives at chrysler put there family members in a vehicle with faulty air bags. i bet the problem would get fixed real quick! this is a wide spread problem. this is issue needs to be addressed. from what i have been told by the dealer is that it is a faulty clock spring in steering column, resulting in air bag light on in the dash, thus making the air bag inoperable!!!! extreme safety concern!!!!!! chrysler recalled 2007 right hand drive models, but from what the dealer told me the left hand drive models are the same faulty part..... somebody please do something before someone is killed!!!!! *js
I have a lhd jeep wrangler unlimited sport. it is a 2010 and the issue that is occurring is the clockspring has gone bad. the light came on for the air bag in about may and once i saw how much it was to fix it i just decided to deal with the annoying beep. after researching jeep forums, i've seen that chrysler corp has been pretty negligent in addressing the issue by saying the recall only applies for rhd vehicles. if you're having numerous reports of a problem but in a lhd vehicle why wouldn't you own up to it? i'm not sure if people need to die in an accident before they own up to it or what but its pretty ridiculous. *tr
I have a 2010 jeep wrangler with 16,000 miles that the airbag light has come on. have taken to certified dealer who diagnosed as faulty module and not covered under warranty, including extended warranty. reading online comments discovering jeep did a recall for this issue up to model year 2008 and also recalled right hand drive models beyond 2008 for this issue. in my opinion the only reason they are not recalling this for post 2008 jeeps is there are too many on the road, over 300,000. i also have issue with the dealer (stetler york, pa) diagnosing at $95.00 then stating they do not have the part and need to order it, it has been 3 weeks now. additionally, they, dealer could not tell us if the airbag would operate correctly in the event of an accident. one final note, the dealer stated this is common from jeeps rough ride. excuse me, they proclaim/advertise rugged readiness. i have never off road-ed this vehicle. i am completely frustrated with this condition. i think jeep should stand behind their products. regards, [xxx] [xxx] york, pa. On the 2010 jeep wrangler unlimited (lhd) dashboard, the airbag warning light flashes on every other minute with a chime, an indication that there is something malfunctioning or interfering with the vehicle's airbags.this has been a recurring issue and concern for many 2007 - 2010 jeep wrangler (lhd) owners, including myself, and has been shown time and time again to be caused by a faulty clockspring within the vehicle's steering wheel. this faulty clockspring is the culprit for potential airbag failure in the 2010 jeep wrangler (lhd) during an accident or premature deployment when simply driving around. daimler chrysler has refused to address the safety concern of their faulty clockspring that can cause failure of the vehicle's airbags from properly deploying. *js
On approximately 13 april 2014, my 2010 jeep wrangler unlimited air bag warning light was coming on and off. turns out to be a bad clock spring in the steering wheel. this will cause the air bag to fail to deploy in an accident, how is this not again a recall issue. they did extend warranty on this on the 2007's but not other years. the dealership is telling me it is out of warranty. to me this is outrageous, this is a safety issue and could cause people to die in a vehicle accident. just do a google search under jeep jk wrangler bad clock spring or air bag warning light and you can easily see this is a wide spread problem. this is issue needs to be addressed. *tt
Driving on side road made left turn and heard audible chime like seat belt warning. looked at dash and see airbag warning lit up. take to dealer as well as seek information on internet. find multiple issues for clock spring signal failure. there is only a tsb issued for the right hand drive wranglers from 2007-2011. the part # is identical for right and left hand drive vehicles. how can the recall only affect the rhd? 5440 cars were subject to recall. how many lhd wranglers are there? i now have to pay $500 +++ to have a repair done that must be done by a dealer. this needs equal treatment to chrysler recall m31. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 jeep wrangler. the contact stated that the air bag illuminated intermittently while in the vehicle. the vehicle was not taken to a dealer. there was a recall under nhtsa campaign id number 13v176000(air bags); however, the vin was not included. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 36,500.
During the month of 2/2014, the air bag warning chime and light began to go off intermittently. due to the safety concerns, we took our vehicle in and learned that it was a bad clock spring. we paid to have it fixed, but upon research learned that the same exact part had been recalled in rhd vehicles (for our vehicle year) only. would like information as to why lhd vehicles are not part of the recall when so many people are obviously experiencing a safety issue also. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 jeep wrangler. the contact stated that he started the vehicle and the air bag warning light illuminated. the failure was recurring. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer, who advised that the clock spring be replaced. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the vehicle was repaired by the dealer. the approximate failure mileage was 55,473. updated 04/15/14 ma the consumer stated vehicle is not repaired, dealer refused to repair because of expired warranty. *tr
Clock spring in steering column failed, resulting in air bag light on dash, thus making the air bag inoperable. *tr
Airbag light is intermittently lit. multiple sources and troubleshooting have led to the airbag clockspring assembly. chrysler has a recall for this (13v176000), but it only applies to right hand drive vehicles. there are numerous left hand drive vehicles that have had this failure. in searching for this part online, i found that there is no part number difference between right or left hand drive. this is a safety issue per nhtsa standards. *tr
2010 jeep wrangler air bag light came on also horn and cruise control is not functioning because of a bad clock spring. i have been reading online where this is a common problem with this vehicle. *tr
I was driving my jeep saturday back home after work, a hear a ding ding same noise when seat bells is not click or when gas get low, same noise,. look at the board and i noticed a light air bag on, star looking passenger seat hit the board but nothing, pull over stop off and start engine again nothing changed still light on some time when turn around light go off just for seconds, but the ding ding still. stop driving by warning, until got an appointment at the dealer ship.after a day the dealer ship in austin tell me the problem it"s a clockspring, and for fix need to pay $500 + taxes. i do my home work and found a two (2) investigation for the same problems by nhtsa . call the service advisor and chrysler and they don't know nothing yet about this problem.hope this nhtsa campaign go true and the manufacture replace this part soon. tks.note: same day for the diagnosis, they renew emission and safety inspection.my sticker will expire 11-14...? it's this problem air bag light on for clockspring fail safety issue? i'm at risk by driving my jeep with this problem? *tr
While driving at all speeds i would get an airbag warning light and chime associated with steering inputs. contacted service department. they said no recall exists and im out of warranty and would have to pay to get it fixed. looked up recalls and failed components common to my complaint. found the exact problem on my jeep up to 2009 and another recall for my year jeep but only right handed steering models. did more research and the same part number component is used in all of them in this year group but my vehicle isn't covered. this is a gross neglect to address a know safety concern and could result in serious injury or death. the jeep was bought new, and airbags should be warrantied for longer than 36,000 miles. especially when they are being recalled for every year and model around mine and i have the same exact problem. *tr
Air bag warning light came on so i took it to a local dealer to tell me what the malfunction was, they told me it was the clock spring. i asked if there was any recalls on it, they said only on the rhd wranglers so i asked how much to repair it. they said it would be around $500.00 reluctantly i paid it because it's a safety item that i didn't want to take a chance on. after researching this matter i discovered this is an on going problem with the jeeps and i feel this should be a recall item just as the rhd wranglers (same part) and chrysler should refund my money. *js
On my 2010 jeep wrangler (lhd) dashboard, the airbag warning light flashes constantly with a chime, an indication that there is something malfunctioning or interfering with the vehicle's airbags. i took my jeep wrangler to the dealer which diagnosed the problem as a faulty clockspring. this has been a recurring issue and concern for many jeep wrangler (lhd) owners, including myself, and has been shown time and time again to be caused by a faulty clockspring within the vehicle's steering wheel. this faulty clockspring is the culprit for potential airbag failure in the jeep wrangler (lhd) during an accident or premature deployment when simply driving around. daimler chrysler has refused to address the safety concern of their faulty clockspring that can cause failure of the vehicle's airbags from properly deploying. *tr
Broken "clock spring" in steering column making the airbag unsafe. *tr
I brought my 2010 jeep wrangler to armory garage because my airbag light was coming on. armory garage told me that "i had a broken electrical circuit int he airbag clockspring wiring assembly". the recall is for right hand drive - i have a left hand drive jeep. i hope i get refunded the $600 in repairs. [xxx] this is what i read on your website: report receipt date: nov 02, 2011 nhtsa campaign number: 11v528000 component(s): air bags all products associated with this recall details 10 associated documents manufacturer: chrysler group llc summary: chrysler is recalling certain model year 2008-2012 right hand drive (rhd) jeep wrangler vehicles manufactured from february 1, 2007, through october 10, 2011. some vehicles may be equipped with driver's airbag clockspring assemblies that could experience a compromised airbag circuit resulting in an airbag lamp illumination, which indicates that the airbag may not deploy. consequence: a broken electrical circuit in the airbag clockspring wiring assembly can lead to non-deployment of the driver frontal airbag and will not be able to properly protect the driver in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of injuries. remedy: chrysler will notify owners and remedy the vehicles as necessary free of charge. chrysler will mail to owners an interim notification during march 2012. owners may contact chrysler at 1-800-853-1403. notes: chrysler's recall number is l37. owners may also contact the national highway traffic safety administration's vehicle safety hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (tty 1-800-424-9153), or go to http://www.safercar.gov . *tr
Recently purchased a preowned 2010 jeep wrangler, that had almost 38000 miles on it, now has almost 41000 miles. last week airbag light started intermittently coming on going off.i scheduled an appointment with the local dealer for a diagnosis and before the scheduled appointment called to filed a complaint. they said take to dealer let them scan for trouble codes. i did this the dealer scanned it and said it did show a code. however the code was inconclusive and to further diagnose would have take steering wheel off airbag out and clockspring out to diagnose properly (about 2.5 hours to be exact worth of labor i had to pay for.) i told them not to take it apart that i would call jeep first and plead my case. jeep told me that's what had to be done for them to determine if they would do anything about it. now for good part, the suspect failed part is the clockspring under the steering wheel that makes an electrical connection between the wheel and the dash, also the airbag. the part is on a national backorder. hmmm. i've owned many other cars with airbags and never have had one fail period. this car is 4000 miles out of warranty and does not have a functioning safety system. kind of important in a car with a soft top don't you think? Warning light came on, telling me that there was a problem with the air bags. this was caused by thing called a "clock spring" in the steering wheel. this in a known problem by jeep as they extended a warranty on clock springs to 2007 jeep wranglers (right hand drive). on line i have found that clock springs have been a problem to left hand drive also. i believe this has continued on into the present jeeps. i would like this safety issue to be taken care of. i would like my money back for this repair, but this is probably not in your area. *tr
I have a 2010 jeep wrangler rubicon unlimited and the air bag warning light keeps going on and off. after reading on the web seems a lot of people are having this problem on all makes of jeep wrangler jk models. *tr
When performing a left hand turn while accelerating away from a stop my air bag warning light and associated chime came on. while driving in a straight line with the wheel centered the light stayed locked in, during a sweeping right hand turn the air bag warning light extinguished. this pattern continued until i returned home and checked that the steering wheel position was in fact the cause of the air bag warning light and associated chime. any steering wheel position left of center would immediately cause the light and chime and any position right of center of would extinguish the light within 10 seconds. i knew at this point that the steering wheel clock spring wiring assembly was faulty and scheduled a dealership appointment for verification and repair. dealership performed a troublecode check and received dtc: b1b02-driver airbag squib 1 circuit open. dealership further confirmed by cycling the steering wheel and code went from active to stored. the clock spring was replaced and retested similarly to my above steering wheel position check and no more lights, chimes, or trouble codes were expressed. faulty clockspring ribbon wire assemblies are a recurring quality and safety issue with chrysler vehicles and jeep wrangler jk's specifically. per this website, actions have been taken to recall 2008-2012 rhd jk's and a customer satisfaction warranty extension has been issued for 2007 lhd jk's of 10 years, 150000 miles. this is most certainly a safety issue as a faulty clock spring can result in the driver side airbag not deploying in an accident if the proper conditions are met, and depending upon the nature of the fault in the clockspring the esc system can also malfunction due to the lack of steering input signal to the system. further investigation for all affected makes, models, and model years, must be completed in the interest of public safety. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 jeep wrangler. the contact stated that while driving 35 mph, the air bag warning light illuminated on the instrument panel. the contact stated that he did not take the vehicle to the dealer for inspection. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified and stated that there was no recall on the vehicle. the failure mileage was 80,000. the vin was unavailable.
Got into my jeep and all of a sudden ding ding air bag light i looked for loose wires but i have the internet its about time chrysler does something. *tr
On the 2010 jeep wrangler (lhd) dashboard, the airbag warning light flashes and chimes while turning the steering wheel while in a forward driving motion. it is an indication that there is something malfunctioning or interfering with the vehicle's airbags. this has been a recurring issue and concern for many jeep wrangler (lhd) owners, including myself, and has been shown time and time again to be caused by a faulty clockspring within the vehicle's steering wheel. owners from all wrangler models from 2007 - 2010 have reported this issue. many of the 2007 models have received recall notices from the dealer, as well as right hand drive models. this faulty clockspring is the culprit for potential airbag failure in the 2007 - 2010 jeep wrangler's (lhd) during an accident or premature deployment when simply driving around. daimler chrysler has refused to address the safety concern of their faulty clockspring for the 2010 model, that can cause failure of the vehicle's airbags from properly deploying. *tr
The 'air bag' light stays on all the time and a dodge technician confirmed it was due to a faulty "clockspring" i had read about as being a defect in online forums. the repair will cost me 500.00 and the vehicle is not even paid off; additionally, the dealer/tech told me the air bag may not deploy properly without the repair. this is a safety issue that has been overlooked during the engineering phase and should be corrected by the manufacturer. *tr
Intermittent lighting of abs/airbag. horn no longer works. *tr
Air bag light stays on! gas cap light stays on! *tr

Takata recall - i have owned the jeep new since march 2010. november 2010 i was in a car accident that did approximately $16,000 work on damages. the accident was on the left front corner and did enough damage to snap the front axel and bend the frame. the airbags did not deploy during the accident. i am still currently driving the jeep and have concerns since receiving the recall notice july of this year. attached is a photo of the broken axel and one of the supplements for the insurance company, but not the final one. i can provide more information if needed. thanks you.
