2008 jeep wrangler, driving when hit a bump, front end began shaking violently. with a dozen or so vehicles behind me, at 55 mph had to quickly pull off the road to avoid a pile up. this has happened to us on 2 different jeeps, a 98 wrangler and this 08. this 08 has almost mew tires and the front end is still tight. this is the most recent of several times the jeep has began to shake violently in the last year. *tr
Bought a 2008 jeep wrangler x from brookfield chrysler in benton harbor michigan in february. after two weeks i brought it back because of extreme and unsafe tire wear due to a damaged front axle. they replaced the axle and front tires. the very same day it started the infamous death wobble. i would be on the highway at 70 mph (or anything above 20), and hit a bump, and the front end would start shaking uncontrollably. i could look out the window and see the tires moving back and forth extremely. this resulted in me losing control and running off the highway into a ditch. *tr
The airbag light is always on. this is on a 2008 jeep wrangler, regular side drive. i have checked with a jeep dealer they are very disconcerted about it. they said i have to pay to have this safety item fixed. *tr
Death wobble 2008 jeep wrangler. bought vehicle in oct 2011, 5 occurrances of death wobble, all on freeways through jan 10th 2012. only recourse is to pull over & stop after hitting a bump or groove in the road. newtons law, every action causes a reaction. front wheels will start shaking begin gradually then violantly until you can luckily pull over & stop. once stopped, you can start again & not experience it again for weeks & then it happens again whenever you least expect it. very hard to even control the vehicle once it abruptly starts. dealer says it's damper needs replaced for 250$. doing this... but this really feels like this should be a recall issue or covered under a easy care warranty that i was duped into buying as well. after 4 months of owning a 20,000$ car & nearly killed 5 times is outrageous. many people wouldn't have been able to control a vehicle if this happened to them. this is a chrysler defect & they should be addressing this before someone is killed by their faulty engineering and/or parts. *tr
2008 jeep wrangler unlimited the shifter pops out of first gear violently, with a very loud noise. this has occurred over 20 times. especially dangerous when pulling out to oncoming traffic and it pops out of gear. *tr
2008 jeep wrangler "x". very bad front end wobble when hitting small bump at freeway speeds and/or braking going down hill. serious control loss. known as "death wobble". blamed on front steering dampener. this will be the third time the front steering dampeners were replaced. first occurred 5 months ago. replaced dampener. happened again 3 months ago. replaced dampener once again. occurred again today. taking into shop for same procedure. read a lot of complaints on this problem. seems to transcend multiple model years. i'm searching to see if any class action law suits against chrysler for this poor design feature exists. paying over $22,500. for a vehicle shouldn't have this problem and if discovered, shouldn't have to pay $400.00 every time to fix. chrysler is aware of this serious condition and refuses to warn customers or perform a recall. *tr
The complaint is how chrysler corp. is addressing the j30 recall. transmission overheating causing engine fires. i own a 2008 wrangler that cost 50k. for the j30 recall fix they are adding a hot oil icon on the dash and flash the computer to recognize a sensor. the engine can still catch fire. someone needs to force chrysler to add a new transmission cooler to cool the fluid, and prevent the oil from boiling. i was told by the dealer engine fires can happen in city traffic starting and stopping. they also informed me that they could sell me one at $500 with two hours of labor at $110 per hr. if this is a recall, due to faulty engineering, then why does the customer have to pay to fix the recall ??? i am writing this before there is property and or personal damage. hopefully, someone in nhtsa can help with the way chrysler is handling this particular recall. *tr
