Recently reported STRUCTURE problems on 2007 Jeep Wrangler

While driving, trac bar bracket broke off front axle & vehicle could not be steered or controlled. approx 2 weeks later, rear trac bracket broke off rear axle & vehicle was swaying, but could be controlled. the prior incidents mentioned above happened in 07/12 & 08/12. jeep dealer made repairs by re-welding brackets. on 11/10/2016 my wife was coming home from work & heard a loud bang and lost control of vehicle & it was bouncing violently & could not steer vehicle & almost crashed vehicle. trac bar bracket on front axle had broken off again after being repaired by jeep dealer.

Was driving and engine stopped. coasted to side of road and when stopped smoke was billowing up around me. got out and tried to put out undercarriage with water and then two fire extinguishers with the help of other motorists that stopped to help. we couldn't extinguish so i called 911 and watched as it was engulfed in flames and burned. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 jeep wrangler. the contact stated that the door hinges were rusting. three of the four doors could not be opened or closed freely and would require excessive force to open or close the doors. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure, who then advised the contact that there was nothing they could do to assist. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. there were no associated recalls or investigations of the particular failure. the failure mileage was 17,500 and the current mileage was 75,000.

Jeep leaks during any rain storm. area between the door and frame of jeep that is normally protected by weatherstripping does not control leaks. i have had the weatherstripping replaced and the leaks still continue. a good rain storm will leave 2 inches of water in my floorboards. carpet is beginning to rot and mold will have to be removed. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2007 jeep wrangler. the contact stated that while driving 40 mph in the rain the soft top on the vehicle began leaking on the driver and passengers side where the doors meet. if water leaked on the electrical components in the vehicle they could rust or a fire may occur. the contact took the vehicle to the dealer for the water leak and they replaced the door seals on the driver and passenger side; however, that has not remedied the failure. the dealer stated that it was a design flaw in the soft top and the door seals. the contact called the manufacturer regarding the leaking soft top and they would not provide any assistance. the vin was not available. the failure mileage was 59,500.

Tl*the contact owns a 2007 jeep wrangler. the contact stated that when entering the vehicle, she noticed that the door hinge, hood, and the driver and passenger side doors paint was uneven and exhibited rust underneath. the dealer stated that the door hinges were rusting and the door hinges would have to be replaced. the manger notified a representative from chrysler and he agreed to inspect the vehicle to determine if the failure would be repaired by the manufacturer since he was unable to make that decision. the representative confirmed that no compensation would be offered since the failure was surface rust caused by the environment. a report was filed with the manufacturer; however, she has not received any follow up correspondence regarding her claim. the failure mileage was 25,000 and the current mileage was 27,000.

My jeep wrangler 2007 shakes so violently that i can no longer drive it. i am afraid that i may kill someone or my self or my kid. it is the scariest thing ever. at three (3) different occasions i almost crash. i heard so many jeep owners have the same problem, so why chrysler are not doing something about this serious problem? they tried to tell me its front end or a tire issue. i have changed my steering damper, my stabilizer bar and bushings. had it aligned and bought new tires and balance. problem still exist. the vehicle has been towed back to the dealer as of this morning. and they are trying to stick me with a bill for any repairs done to rectify this wobbling issue. i do not think that i, the consumer should have to pay anything for this manufacture defect. $40, 000.00 is not cheap, they made a killing from me and now that i have six months left, nobody wants to assist or do the right thing. i love my wrangler. always dream about owning one since high school. i hoping you can do something about this issue. i have no extra money lying around. please help [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2007 jeep wrangler. the contact noticed that the front driver's and passenger side floor areas accumulated an excessive amount of water. the failure was noticed whenever it rained. there was approximately two gallons of water collected on the floor area. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for inspection. the mechanic provided a packing around the windows in order to remedy the failure. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer on five separate occasions, but they could not assist. the vehicle has not been repaired properly. the failure mileage was 23,000 and current mileage was 36,000.

Tl*the contact owns a 2007 jeep wrangler. the contact observed that the vehicle was damaged on the driver side door after being serviced for a recall repair by an authorized dealer. the authorized dealer stated that they were not responsible for the damage. the vehicle has not been repaired and there has been no resolution. the recall number was unknown. the failure and current mileages were 12,084.

2007 jeep wrangler problems with engine stalling. consumer states that in order to restart the vehicle it must be in neutral before turning the ignition switch. consumer states she would like the vehicle replaced. *kb the seat belt retractor on the drivers side failed within weeks of owning the vehicle, there was a constant rattling noise coming from the pillar area, the drivers door did not close properly. the technician used a mallet or hammer to align the door striker. the consumer had to slam the door in order for it to close properly, even though there was no certainty the door was really closed. there was a possibility that the striker on the door could collapse while the vehicle was in motion causing the door to open. the vehicle also made a rattling noise while accelerating. *jb

2007 jeep wrangler with defective windshield wiper system. consumer states that the windshield wiper system is defective and chrysler never investigated his problem. *kb the safety issue pertaining to the windshield wiper design, allows water into a metal box area which becomes frozen and prevents the wiper system from functioning in cold inclement weather conditions. *jb

Tl*the contact owns a 2007 jeep wrangler. the contact stated that it takes a minimum of four men to remove the hard top (freedom top) from the vehicle. the top leaks when it rains or when the vehicle is washed. daimler chrysler stated that in order to get the vehicle inspected, the hard top would have to be placed back on the vehicle. while attempting to do so, the top became too heavy and was dropped, resulting in damage to the vehicle. the vehicle was towed to the dealer for inspection. the current and failure mileages were 4,000.

2007 jeep wrangler sahara faulty t-top clasp customer states t-top flew off into on-coming traffic when driving**sb the consumer stated that jeep liberty is not living up to its five star name and would like them to investigate the t tops with a guarantee in writing and responsible for the cost of new t-tops. the consumer provided pictures of defect and place where incident occurred. the dealer informed the consumer that the tops had cracks in them and that someone must have dropped them. the consumer was aware they had cracks because it flew off into the road. the consumer requested that all of the latches be checked. the consumer noticed that when the vehicle was returned the passenger side latch had been adjusted. *tr
