While driving on the highway going approximately 55 mph and uncontrollable oscillation occurred in the front suspension and wheels. the oscillation occurrs when going around a turn and when driving straight. the shaking is so bad the vehicle is nearly impossible to steer. each time i had to apply the breaks try and avoid traffic and pull over on the side of the road.

While driving, trac bar bracket broke off front axle & vehicle could not be steered or controlled. approx 2 weeks later, rear trac bracket broke off rear axle & vehicle was swaying, but could be controlled. the prior incidents mentioned above happened in 07/12 & 08/12. jeep dealer made repairs by re-welding brackets. on 11/10/2016 my wife was coming home from work & heard a loud bang and lost control of vehicle & it was bouncing violently & could not steer vehicle & almost crashed vehicle. trac bar bracket on front axle had broken off again after being repaired by jeep dealer.
When driving at speeds of 50 to 55 mph the jeep will go into an uncontrollable wobble which you have to bring the jeep to almost to a complete stop to get it under control .have had it to the place of purchase in june 2016 3 times. they say they have fixed it but it is still doing the same thing.last fix they turned brake rotors and reset tire pressure. no help. *tr
While driving, if the vehicle hits a small bump, the front end shakes violently back and forth until i am able to stop the vehicle. this problem is widespread and can be found on the internet as the "jeep death wobble". we've spent $900 to have this fixed and have been to 2 different garages to have it fixed and the mechanics can't find anything more that is wrong and claim it's a design flaw in the vehicle.
While going appx. 55-70mph, on several occasions, go over a bump in road (does not have to be a big bump) veh. starts shaking, steering wheel has been jerked out of my hands. have to come to a complete stop and does not matter where. veh. pulls extremely hard not wanting to go forward. many youtube videos have also been documented on this. maybe if i marked a traffic accident or death caused by this, jeep would do something. i have completed a fix that has been good now for several months. replaced ball joints, added to steering shocks to keep steering forward, replace both tie rods, front end alignment, new shocks (all 4). have paid out my part on keeping my jeep serviced. but, jeep still has not answered this complaint now for years. expand question: when did this happen. it has been an ongoing problem since i bought it new in 2007. jeep dealership could not find anything wrong.
I bought a used 2007 jeep wrangler 2 dr, 4x4 soft top, in oct 20014. it had 82,000 miles. i had no previous buying on this model. i drive mostly highway miles in north east ohio. i drive almost 90 miles, round trip, per work week. i noticed a slight bounce in the front end, suspension during highway posted speeds of 65 miles per hour. i changed the the shocks 4 ea.after my front straight axial began to bounce up and down, well the bounce was worse, after a short period of trying to handle road condition, even changing route, to avoid the bounce, at highway speed 60 miles and under, it was cold out 40 degrees, heavy traffic christmas time, rush hour, my jeep went into a radical bounce called " death wobble " as noted in the jeep world, not noted by jeep, i had three, in the row, one worse, than the one before. the bouncing caused a transmission cooling line to dis-large, from a sited coupling, to the engine radiater. the lose of 4 quarts of transmission fluid to spill on the 5 lane highway. i noticed a lose in speed, smoke and rpm advance, from 1800 to 4000 rpms in less than a minute. now i had to navigate my way through 4 lanes of heavy 60 miles to 75 mile an hour traffic, with out getting hit. within two miles i managed to pull over to the right shoulder. i had a flashlight, i left the engine running, because it was getting dark out, i went up front and looked at the front end and saw transmission fluid. i shut off the engine, and called for a tow. 2 hours later, plus 77.00 dollars, i went home. i live on a budget. i wrote jeep, but without a word, from them. so i looked at my owners manual, and saw nothing about changing shocks, coil springs at miles maintenance service intervals. i noticed your name, so i contacted you for help. luckily i wasn't hit or worse. i'm 62 years young, and have driving experience. i hope this helps.
Going 55 to 60 mph the jeep stared to go into a death wobble. i had to make an emergency move into the break down lane. on i 95 in augusta maine
I was driving on the highway, i hit a small bump on my rear wheel and all of a sudden my whole vehicle had stared to shake vigorously including the steering wheel i had to move of the road and come to a complete stop in order for the wheel to stop shaking

I have had the "death wobble" since i purchased my jeep. this happened on both stock suspension and modified suspension and so far, it has happened easily well over 160 times over the course of this last year (i lost count as it happens fequently). i've dished out well over $1,000 to fix (so far), have had two accidents (nov. 2, 2014 and apr. 14, 2015, both minor with no police reports made either time) as a direct result of this, countless near misses, many a drink spilled on the floor board or myself then the floor thanks to either the gut-wrenching wobble itself, or having to slam on the breaks. even more unsafe, is that everytime it happens, the only way to regain control of the vehicle is to stop immediately or risk further damage and/or losing control. this means having to slam on the breaks many times at highway speeds and hope that 1.) i'm actually driving as my fianc wouldn't have the strength to keep control 2.) i maintain enough control to guide the jeep to an emergency lane so i can stop safely. 3.) hope that other drivers are paying attention and don't hit me. this is rediculous, and the more it happens, the less safe i feel, and the more risk that myself and my family are placed in. jeep has a typical responses of, "we don't know what's wrong.", "there's nothing we can do.", "we are aware of the problem, but cannot offer a remidy.", or "let's replace this. sorry it didn't help. let's try this. yes, we understand it didn't work, but we still had to replace it, so you still have to pay." plain rediculous, and what's more concerning is that this is a known problem that they refuse to address it. please help!
When driving at about 50 mph right front tire hit a pothole repair/bump. this threw my front end into major osscillation/wobble. i had to slow down to 35 before it would stop. since that first time it has progressively gotten worse. now it's happening once a day and it is very dangerous when at highway speeds and in traffic. i have replaced shocks and ball joints which hasnt worked. actually gotten worse.
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 jeep wrangler. while driving at an unknown speed, the vehicle uncontrollably veered left to right. the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the suspension, the bracket damper, the steering damper, the nut hex flank, the bolt hex flank, the bar front, the steering adjuster, and the tie rod drags needed to be repaired. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 103,142.
Tl*the contact owns a 2007 jeep wrangler. the contact stated that while driving at 55 mph over a pot hole, the vehicle wobbled and vibrated out of control. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the vin was not available. the failure mileage was 62,000.
Experienced the jeep death wobble while travelling at 70 mph on a highway. i thought that i had experienced a blow out and the tire was moving from side to side on the rim. this was extremely violent. after i got the vehicle stopped i inspected it for damage and could not find any obvious problems. this happened five more times on that trip. i took the car to a mechanic that found nothing wrong. had the tires rotated and balanced. they were in balance. started researching the problem and found out about the death wobble. found the steering damper was loose and tightened it. helped a little but problem still occurs. taking it to a dealer next to have the damping and alignment components replaced. i am the original owner and the vehicle is stock.
I have been experiencing an extreme shaking while operating the vehicle. i occurs very randomly and comes on with out notice. it occurs on the highway as well suburban streets and at any speed. i read an article from 08' from another person that had the same issue. it sounded like nothing was done from this organization and the vehicle maker. this is very unsafe situation for owners of this vehicle and is a safety hazard for others on the road. please respond to this message and let me know if something can and will be done. *tr
The front end began to shake violently after hitting an uneven road on a hill/curve. the shaking would not stop until i hit the brakes. this occurred three times in december of 2014. a mechanic said the steering stabilizer and front ball joints needed to be replaced and the problem was common with jeeps, known as the "death wobble". *tr
Death wobble. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 jeep wrangler. while driving approximately 50 mph over uneven pavement, the vehicle became uncontrollable. the wheels and steering wheel started to wobble. the failure recurred multiple times. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. the technician stated that the front stabilizer link failed and needed to be replaced. the stabilizer link and bolts that secured the links were replaced, however, the failure recurred. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 83,000. the vin was unavailable.
We have had this incident many times before, referred to as the 'death wobble', had the steering pin replaced twice, and new tires, alignment and was fine for 3 months and yesterday it happened again, hit a bump in the road going 45 mph and jeep just started rocking and jumping all over the road, had to pull off the road the make it stop. when are you people going to do something about this????? when someone gets killed????? this is so dangerous and i cannot believe that this has not been recalled, so many people have this and are very upset, has this been looked into???? if you are for safety than this would have been looked into a long time ago!!!!! *tr
My vehicle developed a horrible wobble in the steering and suspension while driving at about 60 mph on the highway. i slowed down and the wobble stopped but persisted whenever i went approximately 60 mph. i took the vehicle to the dealership, they are very aware of the jeep death wobble however the cost of repairs is mine to bear. this could cause a significant accident, yet jeep is ignoring repairing this. to this day it is still not fixed 100%. *tr
When driving and vehicle hit a bump with right tire vehicle would begin violently shaking until slowed down to 15 mph. took to repair shop who diagnosed it with death wobble and replaced lower drag link and installed new tires. no issues so far. also both floorboards get wet when it rains. *tr
At 60 mph my jeep started violently shake. i had to pull off the interstate in the emergency lane. this has happened over 10 times. i took it to the dealer and he said ball joints and steering damper was bad. $1,100.00 to fix it. it is still not steering correctly. there is a popping in the steering wheel and shakes somewhat when i hit a bump in the road. this is very dangerous. i had no idea there was a death wobble in the jeep i loved so much. i will be trading the jeep for a different suv after i get the wobble fixed again. i am expecting a grand baby in dec and there is no way i will put it in the jeep. *tr
vehicle experiences violent shaking that requires you to dramatically slow down to stop. wobbles back and forth to an extreme that control is nearly lost. completely stock vehicle with factory replacement tires. tires are balanced and vehicle is aligned within spec. online research states this is called "death wobble" as result of mismatched fastener sizes in factory assembly. *tr
While driving on interstate and immediately after crossing over a bridge, the front end and steering wheel began to violently shake. braking did not bring the condition under control. fortunately i was in the right lane and able to pull onto the right shoulder. the shaking stopped when my speed fell below 25mph. i purchased this vehicle at approx 50,000 miles. this condition has never occurred before. clearly there is potential for outright loss of steering control, or potential for collision from behind due to need for rapid deceleration while driving at a highway speeds. *tr
I was driving approximately 55-60mph, there were some mild tar bumps in the road that i drove over and the car proceeded to the death wobble. it is exactly as everyone else has noted, the jeep felt like all 4 wheels were coming off, the jeep shook voilently, was extremely hard to handle. i slowed my speed and pulled off the road. the car felt like it was going to come apart. this is a known problem to chrysler and to this organization, why won't you do something about it????? with only 33k miles, i now have to get a new car because i am in fear of driving this one. if this had happened in the middle lane of an expressway....it could have been tragic and deadly....is that what you are waiting for? hope it isn't anyone you know when it does happen!
The 2007 jeep wrangler unlimited x model began violent shaking in the front end at highway speeds. the shaking started mildly then became violent. i slowed down and the shaking subsided but this is extremely dangerous when the traffic flow is moving at faster rates. an on-line search indicates that this is common in this model. i believe this should be recalled and fixed. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 jeep wrangler. the contact stated that while driving 55 mph, the vehicle jerked violently without any warning. the vehicle was not taken to the dealer. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the vin was not available. the failure mileage was 74,900 and the current mileage was 75,000. updated 02/11/14*lj
When traveling at 45 mph i made a slight left turn in the road and went over a long small bump in the road maybe from a road seam that was filled in. both wheels hit it at the same time and the jeep slowly started shaking until it became very violent inside the jeep. i had to slow my speed down to approx 10 mph to get it to stop. i happened to have a coworker behind me who saw the whole thing from behind and said the car was shaking back and forth so much that it looked like my rims were almost touching the road since my tire treads stayed straight. it felt like i had 4 flats. i changed the steering dampener and the shocks to rancho brand which are larger than the oem but it happened again but not nearly as bad since i now know when it could possibly happen. if there were cars next to me i would have hit them. this is a very real problem which is scary. any help would be appreciated. thank you. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 jeep wrangler. the contact stated that while driving approximately 40 mph over a road bump, the vehicle and the steering wheel began to vibrate excessively and caused the contact to lose control of the vehicle. the contact erroneously drove off the roadway. the contact had the vehicle diagnosed by an independent dealer, who replaced the steering stabilizer but the defect was not remedied. the manufacturer was notified and no solution was offered. the failure mileage was 59,000. updated 03/11/14*lj
I engaged my electronic swaybar disconnect when i went off-roading. when i returned to pavement, i tried to reconnect by pressing the button on the instrument panel, but the light continued flashing on the dash. i took my 2007 jeep wrangler rubicon in to the local jeep dealer and was told that it was not covered by warranty. after doing some research online, i found that this is a very common issue among rubicon owners. here is the link to some others on a jeep forum experiencing the same issue: http://www.jk-forum.com/jk-electrical-lighting-sound-systems-13/warning-rubicon-owners-your-swaybar-will-get-you-177489/page2/ this is a real issue, as most jeep owners that have this electronic swaybar disconnect option use it off-road, far from civilization. in some cases, this defect has caused their vehicle to freeze up. this could be deadly in some of the really hot or really cold locations. *tr
I bought a new 2007 jeep wrangler death wobble started at 70,000 miles mark mitsubishi in phoenix az has not helped me out at all it goes every 10,000 miles on me and they just replaced my tires. death wobble occurred the day after and before. how do we all get together who have this problem and get jeep to be responsible for a defective front end. death wobble is not only scary it is dangerous and i hope that it doesn't take someone getting killed for them to finally replace it. *tr
Driving on 4 lane non-interstate road in the rain at approximately 40 mph. drove through a puddle that seemed to affect the left front tire only and the front end began to shake violently as though something had came loose. there was a strong pull to the left also. i'm thinking i will have to get the front end checked out, stopped at a grocery store for a few things and when headed home the shake is still there, but not so violent. parked at home overnight and headed out the next day to get it looked at and there is no shake whatsoever, vehicle drives like it always has. in doing some research on the internet i see a problem others seem to be having exactly like mine and it's being called the "death wobble". it has not done this since this one time but it has me worried that it will at any time, and could be very dangerous. *tr
i was driving on highway when hitting 65mph and jeep started to shake uncontrollably. i would have to stop and pull over to a lower speed for it to stop. but if i was in left lane and it started i couldn't swing to breakdown lane so would have to stop immediately in traffic. very unsafe but better than causing accident. i replaced the steering stabilizer last summer with no relief. why is jeep not handling this ? why are people like us spending thousands of dollars on a vehicle just to have cause life threatening issues i have many things and read up on this death wobble of jeep. is it something i can get lawyers involved ? *tr
Stock 2007 with fairly new original size tires wrangler with "death wobble" at 55 miles an hours the jeep begin to shake violently and i had to slow below 45 for the wobble to stop. after i had the recommended upgrade to the steering dampener i was traveling through a canyon on i-70 and went over an expansion joint. i almost lots control and hit the car next to me related to this wobble. this jeep has been taken this vehicle to the dealer 5 times in the last three months, they have replaced every possible part on the front end of this car. the tires are from 2009 with almost 2/3 tread remaining. the dealership is at a lost for why this problem continues. i have decided to sell the jeep back to the dealer because i am no longer able to feel safe and will not take my family in this care. the wobble is very unpredictable and therefore very hard to duplicate but none the less it is very possible to lose control when this occurs. please look into why this is so common before someone is killed. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 jeep wrangler. the contact stated that while driving various speeds over 40 mph, the front end of the vehicle suddenly began to shake uncontrollably. the vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed that the front tires needed to be replaced. the tires were replaced but the failure recurred. the manufacturer was notified of the defect. the vin was not available. the failure mileage was 90,000.
Hit a pothole traveling at 70 mph the vehicle experienced a violent shaking until i stopped . *tr
I was driving on the freeway in excess of 70mph when i hit a very minor imperfection in the road. the vehicle immediately began to shake/hop and steering become uncontrollable i nearly caused a major pile up on i-35. this has happened numerous times and i've owned the car very little time. luckily i gained control before a catastrophic event happened. this is 100% a jeep design flaw it is referred to as "death wobble" and no if ands or buts; they need to be held accountable. all we as buyers ask is to be put in a safe and functional vehicle. my child has to ride in this car. there are literally thousands of reports of the same problem all over the nation. it is not ok for this to go on any longer. something has to be done lives are at stake. is that not important anymore? please watch the youtube videos so you can view what the wheels and car actually do and you will understand exactly how serious this is. *tr
Driving my stock 2007 jeep wrangler on i-77 in charleston wv at 65mph. started rounding a left hand curve in the road when i hit some minor bumps in the road. the vehicle started bouncing and shaking violently nearly causing me to lose control of the vehicle. i was able to slow and pull off to the side of the road. the shake went away at about 15-20 mph. i thought for sure a wheel was coming off. i slowed my speed but this still happened three more times before i could get it to royal jeep in charleston where i had to leave it and rent a car for the night. after describing the incident to the service advisor stated it sound like a bad steering damper shock and stated that he has dealt with this problem before. i picked up the vehicle the next day to a tune of $205.00 plus the rental car($64.00) and drove back to cleveland oh without another incident. mark by word, someone will die someday if this problem is not corrected quickly. *tr
Front end shakes violently, feels like a flat tire or a loose wheel. stopped & checked tires, found nothing wrong. got back in vehicle and drove. this has happen at least 2 other times. i believe it is called a death wobble. was pretty scary. *tr
Uncontrollable wobble in front end on highway causing vehicle to be unsafe (referred to as the death wobble)

While driving at approx 40 mph, jeep struck a small (very shallow) pothole. front end of jeep began to shake violently. this has happened on two other occassions in the last month, all between 40 and 50 mph. each time the jeep hit a bump in the road. jeep is stock, no lifts, no off road use, original factory tires: goodyear wrangler p255/75r17, properly inlfated to factory specs, low mileage 27394. the wobble doesn't stop until the vehicle is slowed drastically, steering is difficult while the wobble is occuring. is this a recall item? manufacture reimbursement? any information regarding this issue would be appreciated. *tr
I have been experiencing the "death wobble" on my 2007 jeep wrangler sahara for the past year now. when it first started i replaced the tires and it appeared to correct the problem for 8-9 months. then the problem re-appeared so i had the tires rotated. corrected the problem for approximately 5000 miles. just this morning while driving into work my jeep started to shake violently starting at 50 mph. in the past, my jeep will experience the death wobble between 50-60 mph. i need to slow down to around 20 mph for the wobble to stop. this is not safe! especially driving in rush hour and i need to constantly slow down to speeds below the minimum speed limit requirement in my state. all parts on my jeep are stock / straight from the assembly line (except for the new tires, air filter, oil, and wiper blades). i can be the only driver to this vehicle as other drivers in my family refuse to drive because of the death wobble. i haven't brought it into a jeep dealer yet (although after reading threads on the internet it appears jeep denies it to be an issue). this is not safe and this is my primary vehicle. it is happening to many jeep owners and if jeep wants to keep its business they should start addressing the issue... *tr
