While letting off the gas to slow down to either a stop or around a curve; the car idles all the way down and dies, the dashboard flashes a message saying 'vehicle must be in park to switch gears'. when i place the vehicle in park it then tells me to push the brake and the start button; when i do the car 'whines' and acts like it's having a hard time starting back up; when it does finally turn over it idles high until i put the car in gear making it jump.

Jan. 5 2020: service engine appeared while driving. i drove 2 miles from work to home and my jeep would not accelerate up my angled driveway. i was pressing the accelerator but the vehicle was slowly going backward. i coasted backward to a level area and put the vehicle in park. i put it in drive and then was able to climb my driveway as normal. jeep was notified. obd code was u0402 (implausible data received from tcm) and (p1dd2 torque request signal from tcm denied). jeep and chrystler state there are no recalls at this time.

Had an oil change around 2 months before the issue occured. when pulling out of my drive way the jeep stopped and shut off. upon inspection i was low on oil. after adding 3 quarts of oil i found where other people online had similar issues with specifically the 2018 jeep renegade 2.4 liter motor consuming copious amounts of oil. others had they're renegades stop while driving down the highway but lucky i was lucky enough to be in my driveway. i have always had an oil change on time and through jeep as well. i also don't understand how they passed and emissions test while the motor burns that much oil.

Twice in the last week, my 2018 jeep renegade with around 17,500 miles has stalled after moderately hard braking. in both cases the vehicle had a difficult time restarting. in the last case, the stalling occurred during busy rush hour city traffic and we sat for about minute with traffic passing us while we attempted to restart the vehicle. my girlfriend, a new driver, was driving during this instance and i am concerned for our safety now. *dt*jb

When attempting to accelerate from a stopped position on a driveway the car stalled and the onboard display read "shift into gear". a full loss of power to the engine and transmission occurred. car had to be restarted to resume driving of the vehicle. the restart was very rough, as if it needed gas. stall could have caused loss of life or injury if it would have occurred in traffic. this is the fourth time it has occurred. other vehicles of the same make and model have a recall for a faulty fuel pump and/or power train control module but mine doesn't.

I was making a right onto a road and i lost all power to the drive train and had to make a sudden right turn into a subdivision that was to my immediate right. i could still steer; which was how i pulled myself off the road into the subdivision immediately after making the turn onto the road. i checked the oil level when i came to a stop inside the subdivision. it read that the oil level was slightly above the recommended level on the dipstick. i was on my way to have the oil change done. the car was due for an oil change at the time. i was taking it in for the oil change 100 miles before the due date. a week earlier and the day before the car displayed a low oil pressure indicator on the display. those were the first times in my life i've seen that message. i contacted the parts department of the troncalli jeep dodge dealership i had bought the vehicle from later that day. i asked why the engine stopped and the man i spoke to said probably had something to do with how the engine was made. in which the engine could stall if the oil level is half a quart over or under the minimum or maximum level. that was the 1st instance of my vehicle stalling.

Jeep renegade 2018, at 12 thousand plus miles, just started using oil. i brought this jeep brand new, took it in for the regular scheduled oil changes, then all of sudden the oil pressure light came on the jeep just shut off. i waited a second or so and it started back up. i went back home my husband checked the oil and it was empty. we add a 4 plus quarts of the correct oil. i called the dealership, for an appointment. it took 4 plus days to get an appointment. before my appointment the oil light came on again. we check the oil and again it barely got any in it. we add just enough to get to the appointment. now they say i have to drive it 1000 miles for a compression test. they know it's the motor!. i don't understand why i have to be put at risk of breaking down to prove there is something wrong. with all the technology the new cars have why can't they see the issue's on the computer?

When driving at long periods of time at higher rpm's (2500-3000), especially when driving on an incline, transmission appears to shift hard, not go into gear properly, or just simply go into neutral, and slow the vehicle down rapidly. when traveling on the decline, there were no problems whatsoever. vehicle has 4800 miles on it. spoke to dealer, and service tech informed me it wasn't the first time he's heard this complaint.

I purchased a 2018 jeep renegade at the end of july 2018, it had worked well until the end of june 2019. i was on a road trip from south carolina to colorado and i was on the road for a week with no issues, but on june 28th as i was driving on i-70 through kansas at about 80 mph when my engine began to stall out. at first it was dropping about 10 - 15 mph, but then it was quickly dropping 30 - 40 mph. i was able to make it into the right most lane, but a check engine light and service transmission light appeared on my dashboard while my engine stalled out completely. i had to restart my car a few times, but after a few restarts the notifications disappeared. every time the engine stalled out, i would lose the use of my gas and brake pedals. the electronics were still working, but driving was non-responsive. i was able to safely nurse my car into the nearest city and eventually get towed to the nearest jeep dealership. the dealership was able to look at the jeep the next day (june 29th) and did some computer diagnostics and told me that the jeep was good to go. i made it about 180 miles and had just gotten back onto i-70 in colorado when the issue returned. engine stalled out, dropped speed to zero mph and pedals became unresponsive. i had to wait several hours to be towed to aurora, co to a jeep dealership (larry h miller jeep). my jeep was with larry h miller from june 29th to july 3rd. they told me that they drove it several hundred miles, despite my odometer not matching their information, and told me that there was no issue with my jeep. i made it 10 miles from the dealer before the stalling issue returned. this almost caused a crash on a congested narrow highway in denver, co. when i called the dealer, they told me they couldn't help and to see another dealer. i was towed to a third dealer, who was also not able to find any issue.

Tl* the contact owns a 2018 jeep renegade. upon shifting the vehicle from park into reverse, the vehicle moved forward. the contact also mentioned that the fuel gauge was defective. when the fuel tank was filled, the gauge still displayed that the tank was empty. the contact took the vehicle to lawley toyota (2750 us-180, silver city, nm 88061, (575) 538-3777) where the contact was informed that the failure could occur when the computer reprogrammed itself. the failure recurred. the contact was informed that there was a technical service bulletin placed on the vehicle regarding the transmission. the manufacturer was notified and stated that someone from the chrysler care management team would contact her. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 64.

Purchased new on 3/19/19. on 3/25/19, with 108 miles on it, the transmission locked up while in motion, in traffic on a very busy highway. was towed to dealer, who 8 days later said transmission module was faulty, replaced, returned to me 4/1/19. 4/6/19 same scenario repeated, however this time in a parking lot. again towed to dealer. the first time an extremely frightening experience! i strongly suggest a recall!!

Gear shifter moves out of gear while in motion causing car to stall and rpms to red line has happened several different times first time at 70 mph car stalled looked down to see shifter had jumped to the neutral position on 2nd small (less than 2lbs) dog jumped across shifter knocking it to n 3rd 45-50mph stalled rpms redlined car died no apparent reason but shifter was in n position when recranked also paid $2088.00 for extended service agreement which was denied by seller on 2 separate occasions.

While driving, my jeep renegade will just turn off. i have to pull off to the side of the road and put the car in park and try to restart the car a couple of times. this will cause a major accident to someone someday. it just shuts off without warning. it's a 2018 jeep renegade with 5k miles! why would it just shut off? i was driving both times this happened to me. once last week and once today 12/26/2018. the lights blink saying engine system/maintenance and low oil pressure. i have read online this is a problem with jeep renegades, but jeep won't do anything about it. how does this get fixed? someone could get killed.

Tl* the contact owns a 2018 jeep renegade. the contact stated that the brake pedal traveled to the floorboard several times when the brake pedal was depressed. there was no warning indicator illuminated. while on an incline, the vehicle rolled in reverse while the brake pedal was applied. the contact was concerned that the failure could result in a crash. in addition, the vent control function failed to operate properly to emit warm air. the dealer (big o dodge chrysler jeep ram, 2645 laurens rd, greenville, sc 29607, (864) 288-5000) was notified of the failure and scheduled a diagnostic appointment. the dealer provided a loaner vehicle. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was not available.

While driving the car, lost all power. pulled over to the side of the road and the engine was no longer running. the d for drive was flashing on the dash and a message popped up saying to put the car in park to start engine. this happened at least 7 times and it's a brand new car with just 1300 miles on it. *dt updated 11/30/18*jb

Vehicle stalling and dying while trying to drive. i can sit for 10 min and it hesitates so i have to put it in park and stop (sometime while in the middle of the road) it seems if i leave it running for about 20 min it will do this then the whole front end shakes and it automatically shuts its self off. and in order to drive it i have to leave it turned off for about 30 min then it will run ok... i've taken it to my local dealership twice they can seem to replicate it (if they even really tried to) i just purchased this less than two months ago had only 6 miles on it. its a 2018 jeep renegade limited 2x4.

Tl* the contact owns a 2018 jeep renegade. while driving 60 mph, there was a loud noise coming from the engine. the vehicle pulled from front to back and then stalled. also, the check engine and transmission warning indicators illuminated. the vehicle was powered off while in traffic. once restated, the vehicle was able to be driven; however, the failure recurred a few miles down the road. the vehicle was coasted to the side of the road and towed to dick poe chrysler jeep (located at 6501 montana ave, el paso, tx 79925, (915) 778-9331). the dealer performed a diagnostic test, but a failure code could not be found. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failures. the approximate failure mileage was 2,700.

I purchased the car less than 2 months ago and it seems that the first four gears sometimes makes the car lunge when they shift up. i contacted the jeep dealer i bought it from and i was informed they couldn't do anything because there weren't any warning lights on the dash showing up. it happens sometimes when im accelerating both fast and slow.

Bought new 2018 jeep renegade. traveling from panama city florida to a new duty station at ft. bliss (el paso texas). at around 400 miles on the vehicle odometer, windshield started cracking. at around 1400 miles on vehicle odometer, transmission and engine failed 5 separate times while trying to get to a safe place to pull over. we were traveling west on interstate 10, posted speed limit 80 mph, approximately 4 foot of shoulder some areas, zero feet where guard rails were.
