Vehicle constantly stalls while driving. even happens when i'm driving on interste and speeds of 70 mph. vehicle eventually starts back up but this is a huge safety issue. had the codes ran and came back with an issue with the crankshaft positioning sensor.

Bought jeep in 2018 since then it has had intermittent cruise control problems. sometimes it works sometimes it dont. sometimes it works then quits working. drivers seat belt will be buckled and come unbuckled have to rebuckle intermittently. burning smell intermittently dont know if its oil, coolant or what was supposed to be fixed by jeep who said it was leaky coolant still occurs. all of this has occurred while on the road.

I have a recall on my vehicle. i keep getting notices via email and regular mail that i need to schedule an appointment to get this recall fixed. every time i call the dealer to get it fixed, i'm told that they don't have parts and don't know when they'll be in. they say they will give me a call when the parts come in, then i never hear back from them.

My daughter was driving the truck when she started to hear noise coming from my truck so she pulled over, call me and then i came up to see what was wrong with the truck no check engine light was on or no over heating and only thing was loud noise so i decided to try to drive the truck home , then on the way driving in ten mile road in warren the truck was getting louder so then i drove it to my daughter father house that was near by . when i turn down ryan road the truck stulled out during the making of the turn but i was able to pull into the tim horton, try to restart my truck to make it to her father house the next day i had tow truck tow my truck to louis auto repair shop but they didn't able to look at my truck until monday and they call me to let me know i need new engine. i didn't understand why i need new engine when my light never came on and my truck is only three years old.

The engine shut down while driving on a city street. was able to push the car to the side of the road. put a code reader on and got po339 code, crankshaft position sensor intermittent. reset the code and car started and i drove home.

Without alerts, engine stalled while driving at approximately 30 mph on a straightaway, frontage road. steering wheel locked up. i brought vehicle to a stop and turned on hazard signals. removed key entirely and then re-inserted and attempted to start vehicle. car failed to start but made ignition noises for approximately 10 seconds without success at which all alert lights on dashboard lit up only while key was turned but failing to start. i removed key entirely again and waited approximately fifteen seconds before re-inserting and attempting ignition once more. this attempt succeeded and i was able to drive vehicle home.

Tried taking my siblings to school and out of no where it wouldn't start i've had no problems since i've had the vehicle and i took it to several places and they couldn't figure out the problem then finally someone figured it out saying it's the computer module

Automatic jeep, has difficulty shifting between gears when accelerating. this is especially noticeable when going a slower speed (i.e. turning a corner, in rush hour traffic with stop-and-go speeds), but does do it at higher speeds (ex. 60 mph to 70 mph). it does not seem to have issues when down shifting. the vehicle has a very noticeable lurch/shutter when it is attempting to shift to a higher gear and will do it repeatedly in a short period of time. the vehicle needs to be driven a while before it will occur, i drive it about 20 miles before it starts exhibiting the issue. the issue is most frightening in city/rush hour traffic because it seems like the vehicle might stop running all together. the vehicle also seems to struggle to make it up hills, as if it does not have enough power to make the climb of even a small hill. the rpm gauge really jumps up high to about 5-6 when climbing a small hill or accelerating 5-10 mph to pass someone on the highway. the issue started before the vehicle had reached 60,000 miles. filters and oil have been changed several times and fuel injector cleaner has been added to the gas several times, none of these measures have changed the performance issue of the vehicle.

My 2016 jeep patriot was purchased on january 29, 2016. this vehicle has been nothing more then a death trap for me and a cash cow for the dealership. i have had major life or death problems almost with this vehicle. this vehicle began stalling out and shutting off while driving down busy interstate or other roadways in 2017. my vehicle is currently at the dealership due to stalling out and shutting off in the middle of a busy highway on june 29, 2019 after i left my job. i have filed a complaint with the consumer protection division and i expressed the dangers and the government hasn't stopped in to intervene as of today. i notified chrysler manufacturer of the problem in 2017, when my vehicle only had 50,000 miles. once again there wasn't anything done concerning this situation. i notified the nhtsa and this organization hasn't done anything but post my complaint online. this is my second complaint with nhtsa. there has been several recalls on this matter but chrysler claimed that my vintage number wasn't part of the recall. although my 2016 jeep patriot was doing the exact same thing as the other 2016 jeep patriot, that was stalling out and shutting off in the middle of the highway. this death trap of a vehicle should have been recalled when i first initially filed this complaint. well i guess i'll just watch and see how many people have to lose their lives behind these garbage jeep patriots before they recall these death traps. i will definitely look into filing a lawsuit against chrysler and name all of the agencies that was made aware of this deadly problem. and they done absolutely nothing concerning this matter. i contacted the manufacturer once again this morning. and i have been assigned another case manager and so i'll wait on this phone call after 8:00a.m. today. i can provide all documentations of the complaints filed.

On 06/20/2019, car began to have sporadic acceleration problems. no check engine light appeared at first but by middle of day, check engine alert came on. immediately afterwards, vehicle would not accelerate past 20 mph. drove vehicle directly to mechanic with hazard lights on driving at speeds between 15-20 mph. mechanic worked on vehicle repairs following day (06/21/2019) and replaced throttle body & throttle body gasket. vehicle did not have acceleration problems after repairs.

Tl* the contact owns a 2016 jeep patriot. while idling at a red light, the vehicle stalled. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the contact stated that the failure occurred at least twelve times. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the camshaft switch failed and needed replacement. the vehicle was not repaired. the vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 47,917.

This is an ongoing problem. the engine stalls randomly while driving. it is very unsafe. we have taken it to the dealer several times and they said they were unable to duplicate the problem.the first time we took it to the dealer. they said they couldn't find the problem because there weren't any computer codes. we took the car back home and the problem still occurred. we brought it back to the dealer and paid for them to do the work for the s89 recall even though our vin isn't covered. i don't know why the recall just covers the wire harness and not the crankshaft sensor itself. we got the jeep back. the problem still occurred. i took it back to the dealer and the third time they replaced the fuel pump and the throttle body assembly. we had to pay for the repairs because at approx.42,000 miles it was out of warranty which is only 36,000 miles. we got the jeep back. not fixed. the jeep has stalled at traffic lights and stop signs and also upon turning. we have also stalled going 60 mph on the highway and barely had time to pull off the road. most of the time, the engine will restart right away, but sometimes you have to wait several minutes. the jeep is back at the dealer. we had called chrysler and gotten a case manager. we got a call from him yesterday that the dealer service dept. still had not found the problem. he was going to check with them again tomorrow. it is unsafe to drive in this condition and we don't know why the problem isn't being fixed.

My car shuts down while driving. the stability light goes on and the engine dies while on the road

Tl* the contact owns a 2016 jeep patriot. while driving approximately 55-60 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. the contact was able to restart the vehicle after several attempts. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that there was crankshaft position sensor failure, circuit malfunction bank 1, invalid skim key, and an unknown code appeared for the abs. the vehicle was not repaired. the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 16v907000 (engine and engine cooling). manahawkin chrysler dodge jeep ram (located at 500 new jersey 72 west, manahawkin, nj 08050) was contacted by phone at 866-834-5922 and informed of the failure. the failure recurred five times. the manufacturer was not contacted. the approximate failure mileage was 74,000.

Car cuts off (engine stall) after starting & driving! first it was hard to start, then it would cut off after starting or putting into drive, finally it cut off on me while driving in the middle of the street (had to be towed)! thank god, i wasn't on a main highway! before the complete shut down, auto zone ran a check on my vehicle for me, showing battery & alternator were fine, but found that the sensor (crankshaft or camshaft) was the problem, with car cutting off! nhtsa shows this to be a problem (vehicle stalling,) with the 2016 jeep patriot, but my vin is not listed. i spoke with my dealer, they acknowledged that was a known problem but not on my vin#, & that i would need to pay for a diagnostic from them, to prove that is what wrong (can accept information from auto zone)! i am unable to use my vehicle, because of this problem, if this is a known problem with the jeep patriot by the dealer & nhtsa, why isn't my vin# not on the list??

Tl* the contact owns a 2016 jeep patriot. while driving various speeds, the vehicle stalled. the vehicle was taken to yark auto group (6019 central ave, toledo, oh 43615, (419) 877-7712) to be diagnosed, but they were unable to duplicate the failure. the manufacturer was not contacted. the failure mileage was 33,000. the vin was invalid.

2016 patriot with,54,000 miles. no major issues prior. 2 weeks ago however, i was left stopped in the middle of a highway entrance ramp, almost rear-ended by a semi and side swiping a construction sign to avoid being hit. when accelerating the etc symbol (lightening bolt) will display, traction control icon and check engine light will display. the jeep completely stops accelerating (highway speed to 0 mph within seconds=deadly), it will shake before just dying. if i'm lucky i'll make it to the shoulder (if it happens to have one). through google research, i came across a way to do a "reset" (turn car off, insert key and turn "on", press gas pedal slowly, release slowly, turn car off and then restart the engine). doing this typically clears the icons and i'm able to travel again. this intermittently happens, so you never know when you're potentially about to be involved in an accident from stopping in the middle of the roadway. when driving on city/town roads, it has not completed stopped as stated above, but will "jump" when switching gears, then throw the etc symbol. if i let off the gas, the icon goes away and car runs normal. i took it to a mechanic 1 day ago and was told to get a new battery. the battery was changed 1 day ago and the issue occurred multiple times today. through online searches it appears this is a terribly common issue that jeep has yet to address! someone is going to end up losing their life because of this malfunction. there appears to be no way of knowing this is going to happen or any preventative measures that a typical person would know to take to avoid this deadly malfunction. as easy as it is to just take it to a mechanic, that is not financially possible for everyone and in this situation needs to be addressed by jeep as it is recurring issue and is deadly. nothing as a vehicle owner would avoid this from occurring.

Tl* the contact owns a 2016 jeep patriot. while driving 45 mph, the vehicle stalled. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the contact also stated that the failure began approximately a year ago and was getting worse. the vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 76,000.

I was going uphill on a rural road when my car powered down and the rpms dropped down to 0. it kicked right back in, it happened one more time on my way home through the city. when i got into my driveway, before i could come to a complete stop it dropped rpms and powered down. after a half an hour i went out to head to a dr. appt and my jeep wouldn't start.

Tl* the contact owns a 2016 jeep patriot. the contact stated that the vehicle stalled without warning twice. the vehicle was able to restart. the vehicle was taken to kendall chrysler dodge jeep ram of soldotna (44055 sterling hwy, soldotna, ak 99669), but the cause of the failure could not be determined. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 35,000. *bf consumer stated engine stalleed twice on 4/13/19 and 4/29/19. *jb

Tl* the contact owns a 2016 jeep patriot. the contact stated that the engine stalled and all of the camshaft sensors were replaced. after the repair, the check engine warning indicator continuously illuminated. the contact discovered nhtsa campaign number: 16v907000 (engine and engine cooling), but the vehicle was not included. the contact notified monterey bay chrysler dodge jeep ram (555 auto center dr, watsonville, ca 95076, (831) 724-2463) and was informed that he would have to pay for a diagnostic test. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 80,000. the vin was unknown.

Takata recall the engine light is on and the transmission slips when the vehicle is on the highway in motion losing the power.

With in this month of march my 2016 jeep patriot have at least 8-9 engine stalls unexpectedly while my family and i are driving on the highway, street and 2-3 unexpectedly at a stop sign. you have a recall/ engine stalls (16v907000).i taken my car to my jeep dealer on 3/9/2019 to my service advisor(james beisiegel , direct#-904-493-8979 and we spoken to a chrysler representative:1-800-992-1997. they both agree that my jeep fall under the recall 16v907000 symptoms. but my vehicle doesn't fall under recall perimeters.my jeep fall one month out of the perimeter of the recall. chrysler representative and my service advisor wanted me to call nhtsa to see can you umbrella my 2016 jeep patriot under recall / engine stalls (16v907000). i feel unsafe when i drive my vehicle. i bought the jeep in nov. 2017, i only have the for 16 months.. i have to take a chance everyday. when my family and i get into the vehicle.

Vehicle loses power and ability to accelerate. this occured while driving on the interstate at 65 mph. thankfully, i was able to get vehicle to side of road. restarted and as driving home, vehicle tries to accelarate itself while car is idling. had i not had my foot firmly on brake, it would have taken off. took in for repairs and dealer states that throttle body is bad and this is a common problem on these vehicles. advised that it was dangerous to drive as vehicle can lose power without warning.

While driving the car it shuts off. waited a few minutes and came back on. drove 2 times (one time on a highway, next on a country road) less than 20 minutes when it turns off. took it in for repair and they are replacing a throttle body sensor that is not working after 46,000 plus miles.

Tl* the contact owns a 2016 jeep patriot. after the vehicle was repaired per an unknown recall regarding the crankshaft, the vehicle lost acceleration while driving various speeds. the contact pulled over and restarted the vehicle. in addition, the abs and four wheel drive warning indicators illuminated. the repairs were performed by fletcher superstore (3111 e 32nd st, joplin, mo 64804, (417) 553-7589). the vehicle was not repaired a second time. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 34,200. the vin was unknown. *bf *jb

I have a code p0335 crankshaft position sensor a circuit . on my car and it was a recall on it , but my car's vin says it's not ! it won't crank

Tl* the contact owns a 2016 jeep patriot. while driving 45 mph, the engine stalled without warning. the vehicle was towed to greenwood auto (659 s high st, cortland, oh 44410, (330) 637-1055) where it was diagnosed that the crank sensor wiring harness failed and needed to be repaired. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that there were no recalls for the failure. the failure mileage was 89,280..*bf consumer stated engine shut off while driving. the 1st time consumer was driving 10mph in the engine shut off while shutting. consumer immediately hit the brakes. one week later, while driving at 55mph consumer pressed the accelerator slightly and immediately the engine shut off. consumer made several attempt to restart the engine and was stranded for 20 minutes on the road. consumer took it to the dealer and was told it is the exact part that has been under recall for other jeep patriots. when the consumer called the manufacturer for her vehicle, she was told her vehicle was not part of the recall. consumer would like to be reimbursed for the repair. While driving on a residential road my car stopped without indication, i pressed on the pedal but it wouldn't go. i turned off the car and restarted it right away and it came back on. the next time it was on the highway, everything on the car was still running but the gas pedal wouldn't do anything and it just stopped. i tried restarting the car but it wouldn't turn back on. the car made a loud stuttering noise like it wanted to start but it wouldn't turn on. all the lights on the dash flickered off and on the whole time while trying to restart it. i was finally able to get it back on after about 2-3 minutes of trying to restart it. i found a recall on the crankshaft sensor which causes the engine to stall but i checked my vin and it shows that there isn't a recall associated with my vin. the recall with chrysler is s89.

When driving on the highway, my jeep instantly turned off with no indication that there was something wrong; no indication of lights or warning issues presented just a loss of complete power. brakes were hard to push and the power steering was lost as well making it very difficult to control while the car slowed down from going 50 mph. i was luckily in the far right lane when it happened making it easier to pull off to safety for myself and for everyone else behind me. once stopped, i turned the car back on and all it did was make a sputtering like noise, but never turned on. i waited 5 minutes and tried to start it again and the car turned on this time, but roughly 30 seconds later it just turned off again with no warning. i found a recall on the crankshaft sensor which causes the engine to stall, but when entering my vin it shows that there is no recall on my car's vin. this recall needs to be opened up for other vin's. the recall with chrysler is s89. this is a huge safety issue!

Tl* the contact owns a 2016 jeep patriot. while driving approximately 20 mph approaching a red light, the vehicle stalled without warning. the contact stated that the steering wheel seized and the vehicle rolled forward. in an attempt to stop the vehicle from crashing, the contact depressed the brake pedal, placed the vehicle in park, and turned off the engine. in addition, the contact stated that the vehicle hesitated to restart. the vehicle was towed to allen samuels dodge chrysler jeep ram (201 west loop 340, waco, texas 76712, (254) 848-6200), but the dealer could not duplicate the failures. the manufacturer was made aware of the failures. the failure mileage was 20,000.

Car shuts off and loses power at various speeds 1-65 miles per hour. when it loses power the power steering goes out and you better pull over fast or you wont be able to move the vehicle until you can get it to start back up. sometimes it takes a while to start back up. this has been happening to me for 5 months now'. i've taken to the dealership 2 times and they keep telling me nothing is wrong... i never got notified of any recalls and they didnt even investigate to see if there was a recall on my jeep patriot the two times i've had it in. i am now having it towed to the dealership because it will not drive more than a few feet with constant shut down. it is dangerous. this happens at all speeds, up hill, down hill, flat, etc.

While driving, the check engine light, the electronic throttle sensor light and the abs light came on. as a result, the engine loses power, the transmission is choppy and i cant drive faster than 20-30 miles per hour. if i turn the car off and restart, the sensor light and abs light goes off, the check engine light stays on and the car runs normal. after five minutes, the aforementioned lights come back on and the engine returns to its subnormal running conditions. there is no specific explanation for this problem and according to jeep's forums, it is a common problem among all jeep models.

Tl* the contact owns a 2016 jeep patriot. while driving 20 mph, the vehicle jerked and the steering wheel was unbearable to steer. the contact stated that excessive strength was needed to steer the vehicle. once the vehicle gained speed, it became easier to operate. the vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic for diagnostic testing or repairs. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 60,555.

When driving the engine will stall/stop without warning. with it going staright or turning it does not matter. you have to completely stop the vehicle and then restart the engine. this has happened on a number of occasions

Tl* the contact owns a 2016 jeep patriot. the contact stated that when she attempted to start the vehicle, it failed to start. the contact mentioned that the vehicle also failed to start after a jump start was provided. the vehicle was taken to a dealer darcars chrysler dodge jeep ram of marlow heights (5060 auth way, suitland - silver hill, md 20746. 301-423-5111) who diagnosed the vehicle and could not duplicate the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified and informed the contact she would be called back. the failure mileage was approximately 7,050. the vin was not available.

For several months it has been increasingly hard to keep my vehicle running/in motion when going up steep hills or gradients on all roadways. i took it to a mechanic. he replaced the alternator. the problem continues to get worse. the vehicle can be driven. sometimes i can ease my foot off the accelerator or restart and the warning light will go off and not come back on. now the warning lights have started flashing. sometimes the vehicle starts shaking as though its going to quit running. i have been pulling off the road, turning on flashers and turning off the engine. after a minute i restart the engine and hopefully move on down the road. it's so bad now i'm afraid to drive but it's the only transport we have. i had a diagnostic done and was told it was a camshaft sensor. l looked this up to find out more about it. i found a website that said there was a crankshaft/camshaft recall on the make, model, and and year of my vehicle. the description of the problem the recalled vehicles were having was the same as mine. so i called my dealership service department to discuss this recall to see if they would fix my vehicle. they ran my v.i.n. number and i was told there was no recall on it. they want me to bring it in for a another diagnostic scan. i asked them to give me a guess as to how much it will cost me. i haven't heard from them yet. i don't understand why the v.i.n. makes a difference since my vehicle is the same make, model ,and year as ones on recall. i think there should further investigation into other vehicles having this problem. i know of one other person, with same vehicle as mine, who said their vehicle has been acting like mine. i have no other transport. i am worried about others and myself driving a vehicle with this problem. i'm afraid someone will have a wreck. please investigate this further.

My car was parked at home in parking lot. i used car earlier during the morning and had no problems with it. during the afternoon i went outside to crank car and it started with no problems. i then realized i forgot something in my home and turned car off took key out the ignition and went to retrieve what i had forgotten. i came back out not even 30 seconds, attempted to crank car and the dash board lights, ac came on, but car would not crank. it made no noise to indicate it was trying to turn over nothing. after trying a few times i called geico to have someone come out to possibly jump start the car, but that person tested the battery, oil, alternator, and started and said none of them were a problem. i then ordered a tow truck thru geico, he arrived about an hour later and he immediately sat in vehicle and car cranked with no problems. the engine light on dash also disappeared. the next day i took the vehicle to have it checked again and i have a print out that shows that neither the battery, starter, alternator or engine oil were a factor. i haven't had any other issues with the car cranking since that day. no one seems to know why it would not start.

Tl* the contact owns a 2016 jeep patriot. while driving various speeds, the vehicle suddenly shut off. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the camshaft sensors and wires were faulty and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer and local dealer (royal gate chrysler, dodge, jeep, 15502 manchester road, ellisville, mo) were notified, but no assistance was offered. the failure mileage was 61,000.

I am driving the jeep is on the highway, doing 60 mph one week after i had bought the jeep in may 2016 and it automatically started going faster on it's own, with the rpm indicator going clockwise. it would not slow down on its own so i had to drive to the access road and put emergency brake on. once i was able to start the vehicle again it reset itself and performed normally. this has occurred 5 times since i have owned it, including july 25, 2018 when it happened again last week. last year i had it checked and was told a sensor light was out, so they "fixed" it. it is still happening. the dashboard indicators are constantly flashing. they told me they reset them also. it is still occurring, also

Tl* the contact owns a 2016 jeep patriot. while depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle failed to accelerate and stalled. the contact stated that the same failure occurred every time the vehicle attempted to exceed 40 mph. the dealer (hertrich chrysler dodge jeep ram of elkton, 1147 e pulaski hwy, elkton, md 21921) was contacted, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not contacted. the failure mileage was 45,156.

Jeep in motion, engine stalls at varies speeds multiple times in a row. headed straight or turning, had to call tow truck but after 20 minutes i tried to turn over my jeep and it started. this happened 3 different times before arriving home. kept call center rep. on phone until i was 2 miles away from my home. 1 time jeep paused like not getting gas then i pressed the pedal and it accelerated (all right in the middle of intersection) then drove the remaining mile and a 1/4 home while on phone with husband. advance auto told me possible fuel issue, i added lucas fuel system cleaner. now looking at recalls online and reading about camshaft or crankshaft sensor. miles on jeep 41688.
