Recently reported ELECTRICAL SYSTEM problems on 2016 Jeep Patriot

Vehicle constantly stalls while driving. even happens when i'm driving on interste and speeds of 70 mph. vehicle eventually starts back up but this is a huge safety issue. had the codes ran and came back with an issue with the crankshaft positioning sensor.

The engine shut down while driving on a city street. was able to push the car to the side of the road. put a code reader on and got po339 code, crankshaft position sensor intermittent. reset the code and car started and i drove home.

Tl* the contact owns a 2016 jeep patriot. the contact stated that the vehicle failed to start. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the dealer and manufacturer were not notified. the failure mileage was 72,646.

Tried taking my siblings to school and out of no where it wouldn't start i've had no problems since i've had the vehicle and i took it to several places and they couldn't figure out the problem then finally someone figured it out saying it's the computer module

My car shuts down while driving. the stability light goes on and the engine dies while on the road

Car cuts off (engine stall) after starting & driving! first it was hard to start, then it would cut off after starting or putting into drive, finally it cut off on me while driving in the middle of the street (had to be towed)! thank god, i wasn't on a main highway! before the complete shut down, auto zone ran a check on my vehicle for me, showing battery & alternator were fine, but found that the sensor (crankshaft or camshaft) was the problem, with car cutting off! nhtsa shows this to be a problem (vehicle stalling,) with the 2016 jeep patriot, but my vin is not listed. i spoke with my dealer, they acknowledged that was a known problem but not on my vin#, & that i would need to pay for a diagnostic from them, to prove that is what wrong (can accept information from auto zone)! i am unable to use my vehicle, because of this problem, if this is a known problem with the jeep patriot by the dealer & nhtsa, why isn't my vin# not on the list??

2016 patriot with,54,000 miles. no major issues prior. 2 weeks ago however, i was left stopped in the middle of a highway entrance ramp, almost rear-ended by a semi and side swiping a construction sign to avoid being hit. when accelerating the etc symbol (lightening bolt) will display, traction control icon and check engine light will display. the jeep completely stops accelerating (highway speed to 0 mph within seconds=deadly), it will shake before just dying. if i'm lucky i'll make it to the shoulder (if it happens to have one). through google research, i came across a way to do a "reset" (turn car off, insert key and turn "on", press gas pedal slowly, release slowly, turn car off and then restart the engine). doing this typically clears the icons and i'm able to travel again. this intermittently happens, so you never know when you're potentially about to be involved in an accident from stopping in the middle of the roadway. when driving on city/town roads, it has not completed stopped as stated above, but will "jump" when switching gears, then throw the etc symbol. if i let off the gas, the icon goes away and car runs normal. i took it to a mechanic 1 day ago and was told to get a new battery. the battery was changed 1 day ago and the issue occurred multiple times today. through online searches it appears this is a terribly common issue that jeep has yet to address! someone is going to end up losing their life because of this malfunction. there appears to be no way of knowing this is going to happen or any preventative measures that a typical person would know to take to avoid this deadly malfunction. as easy as it is to just take it to a mechanic, that is not financially possible for everyone and in this situation needs to be addressed by jeep as it is recurring issue and is deadly. nothing as a vehicle owner would avoid this from occurring.

230am on interstate 25, no road lighting, no traffic nearby. by ourselves, four of us on the way to the airport. set cruise control to 75mph. seconds later all lights including dashboard went out. in total dark ness. guessed side of road. managed to stop car. turned off, back on, all restored. we actually grazed an overpass which i have attached photos. we four came near death. scared to drive car. just had "patch" work done at nearby dealership to repair abs and traction lightss that were on. please advise.

I have a code p0335 crankshaft position sensor a circuit . on my car and it was a recall on it , but my car's vin says it's not ! it won't crank

11/27/18-broken wire at at pcm / 05/16/19-had to replace faulty win module /06/20/19-dealer suggested replace engine harness due to corrosion opted for repair kit .

While driving the car runs rough. i've scanned the car and no codes come up. i was driving and the etc light flashed and it felt like the time went out. i was afraid that my car went out of time. while driving and shifting the transmission sometimes slips out of gear prematurely. i was driving straight when all of these problems happened.

I purchased a used 2016 jeep patriot latitude 11 months ago it only had 32,000 when i bought it less than a month later i started having weird issues with my jeep dying while driving or wind shield wipers coming on by themselves as well as my a/c going off and on and my head lights flickering off and on...took it to the dealer and it was a faulty tipm they replaced it with "supposedly a new one" under warranty and now less than 9 months later started having the same issues again!

I am driving the jeep is on the highway, doing 60 mph one week after i had bought the jeep in may 2016 and it automatically started going faster on it's own, with the rpm indicator going clockwise. it would not slow down on its own so i had to drive to the access road and put emergency brake on. once i was able to start the vehicle again it reset itself and performed normally. this has occurred 5 times since i have owned it, including july 25, 2018 when it happened again last week. last year i had it checked and was told a sensor light was out, so they "fixed" it. it is still happening. the dashboard indicators are constantly flashing. they told me they reset them also. it is still occurring, also

Warning light kept coming on for "low tire" while driving on city street, highway and interstate. had this checked repeatedly at dealer, the low tire light would go off then come on again later. the day after takingthe patriot in for the low "tire light" the esc/abs lights also started coming on. i have just over 50,000 miles so the warranty is over. i was told that in addition to the $115 for doing a diagnostic to see why the lights were on it would be $350 extra plus labor to replace the sensor. i was unable to pay for this at this time. i was told that it would be okay to drive it but the lights would stay on until replaced. online i see that there are over 18 other complaints for the same reason. the sensor got some type of moisture and was shorting out. mine continues to be on for 30 minutes then go out, or not come on at all, or not on then comes on. either there is an issue with connection or this is just a bad product. with all of the complaints for this same scenario - i am afraid that there is a water leak or the sensor does not have protection from water. either way, i feel that this is a hazard to anyone driving a jeep patriot. others have reported smoke, fires, etc. this needs to be addressed by the dealer and corrected free of charge. i loved my patriot until this happened. i will be driving on the interstate this weekend, which is why i tried to have the lights/sensors checked out monday. i leave tomorrow and hope and pray i do not have a fire/accident to report on monday. this is a valid safety concern and should be addressed. online other reports also state that sometimes you lose acceleration and stall because of the sensor. please check this out before someone is seriously hurt.

The totally integrated power module failed at 49k miles. basically the computer doesn't work. the vehicle will loos momentum and deceleration happens often. the wipers just come on by themselves. car is in drive when deceleration happened.

Tl* the contact owns a 2016 jeep patriot. the contact stated that the ignition failed to start the vehicle several times without warning. the vehicle was towed to safford chrysler jeep dodge ram srt fiat of springfield (7611 loisdale rd, springfield, va 22150, (703) 866-1700), but was not diagnosed or repaired. the contact had a warranty on the vehicle and was uncertain if the vehicle would be serviced under the warranty. the contact was waiting on a response from the manufacturer to determine a permanent remedy. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the vin and failure mileage were not available.

If the wheel bearing needed to be replaced. was told it was a defect. march 2018 gasket needed to be replaced. again was told it was a defect. both times had to pay a hundred dollars deducted

Started jeep and all three lights presented on the panel (electronic throttle, electronic stability control, malfunction indicator light). attempt to drive and would not move past 2krpm and commenced "stuttering" and then stalled. had car towed to mechanic (mpg automotive and fernie's auto) to confirm failures.

On 4/12/17 at approximately 5:30 pm i was driving my jeep of 11,000 miles on it. still a new car. it started running as if loosing power. i pulled off of highway to see what was happening. i pulled hood release it did not open. i looked under jeep to attempt to get hood open as an police officer pulled up beside car to see if i was ok. as he began to ask this and i turned to reply. car burst into flames. officer attempted to use fire extinguisher but it did not help and by the time fire department arrived it was a total loss. fire raged so hot it melted the front seat head rests and the entire front of jeep is gone. perhaps by pulling over is the only reason i am still alive. i have a lot of documents and pictures. in these documents i have word for word of chrysler jeep refusing to do an investigation on why this car burned..

Tl* the contact owned a 2016 jeep patriot. while driving 65 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. the contact lost control of the vehicle and it rolled over. the power steering function became inoperable and the air bags failed to deploy. a police report was not filed. the contact sustained a minor ankle injury that did not require medical attention. the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic and was not repaired. the contact was concerned that the failure mentioned in nhtsa campaign number: 16v907000 (engine and engine cooling) contributed to the crash. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and was informed that the vehicle was not being driven at a speed that would facilitate the deployment of the air bags. the vehicle was destroyed. the approximate failure mileage was 17,000. ..updated 07/31/17 *bf *js

I was driving on a city street around 2:30 pm when i notice smoke coming out from under my hood. i pulled off to a safe spot and by this time ii could see the fire coming out of the front of my jeep. three fire inspectors looked at it and are unable to determine the cause of the fire. however, a jeep mechanic also looked at it and believes the fire started behind the battery. the jeep is totaled. still waiting on reports from the insurance company. cynthia i just wanted to give you an update. we did hire some people who went out and also were not able to fully determine the fire. i am having a hard time getting in contact with chrysler. i will keep trying and let you know what they tell me. depending on what they tell me we might move forward with more investigation. i will keep you updated. from progressive claim #161737586 agent amy etta ph. 503-495-4507

Went through car wash, water came pouring in through dome light, raining on radio. took to the dealership who said the drain lines are too small and often need to be unclogged. they offer no explanation of the potential electrical hazard or the rotting effects of water left unseen in the roof linings. i googled the issue and found the history of this poor design goes back to 2008. the dealer told me they have not been recalled and can only unclog/blow out the drain tubes during my routine oil changes...this needs to be addressed as a potential electrical safety hazard. i am leasing the vehicle but may need to switch out. this is an acknowledged manufacturers defect that they are apparently ignoring to the consumers risk of electrical fire, and or rotting accessories causing potential severe devaluation in trade in / sale potential as well as actual cash value in insurance appraisals.

I bought my 2016 jeep patriot new. it has 20,000 miles. the abs and traction control light is on. cruise control stopped working. windshield wipers make popping noise when on. when at a stop the engine makes a rattling sound. when acceleration it makes a weird noise and takes forever to get it to the speed of 60mph. i can't get my car in for repair until june 14, 2016. everything that went wrong happened at the same time except the windshield wipers. i smell a lemon in the bunch here!!!

Just got the jeep but did not take home for three days after the sale.the wire harness was bad on the jeep? so far no problems so far after we got it home! its the 75 anniversary edition real nice.love it. have own 2 patritots before this one. and no problems with them.
