I was driving when all of sudden my jeep patriot started slowing down, limp and a bit out of my control. 3 lights turned on simultaneously. i pulled over to the side of the road. my engine started shaking and my jeep sounded odd so i turned it off. i waited a bit and turned it back on. i was able to drive it back home safely as i was less than a mile away. i started doing research and found that many jeep patriot owners have gone through the same thing. apparently it's a throttle body issue that jeep has failed to recall or take acrion on. i had to pick up my son from school and this time the jeep went limp after less than half of a mile of driving. i struggled to take my car back home and had to keep turning on and off my car. this is very dangerous i was very lucky to just be in my neighborhood. i bought this car in july. these sort of issues shouldn't already be happening. i now will have to take it to a mechanic and spend hundreds of dollars for something i am not responsible for.
While randomly driving my check engine light and throttle light comes on. i've had my car to the dealer multiple times. the codes are p2135 and p0121. dealer said they can't find anything wrong. they didn't clear the code. went home and slept, next morning the lights are off. this has been a continuous issue. they replaced the throttle body december 2018, my gas pedal 2 months ago and part of my computer over a month ago and this is still happening. i've read in a bunch of forums this is common but no one has a solution. dealer said my wiring harness was fine and they can't find the problem but don't want to replace the throttle position sensor even though it's under warranty. help
Sputtering and violent bucking when trying to accelerate. "lightening bolt" started blinking on dash board. turned out i had to replace the throttle body. my car only had 55,000 miles at the time. very dangerous if you are driving on the road and this starts.
When i fill my tank up with gas, my car will start bucking, often resulting in a stall shortly after. it doesn't matter if it's completely full or if i only put ten dollars in the tank. it is usually when i am slowing down or when i slow and then try to accelerate but never when i'm already slowed down, it's usually when i am going the speed limit it can be anywhere between 30-60mph. it has broken down twice on a major highway where i live called us 19 and i legitimately felt like i could have lost my life in both situations had other drivers not been paying attention, so many cars came close to hitting me i'm terrified to drive my car now. it also stalled several times on side roads with heavy traffic and once or twice on roads with not much traffic. i believed maybe it was the throttle body but it's not throwing any codes. since it is usually when i put gas in, i'm now thinking it maybe be an issue with the fuel injector, some sort of sensor in the gas tank or something along those lines. it is currently at the dealership getting looked at but they are having a hard time recreating the issue, it really should be a recall before someone loses their life. i don't have kids or a husband but a lot of people on the forums i visit do and they are having this issue with a lot of different makes and models of jeeps since 2014. https://www.cargurus.com/cars/discussion-t29898_ds631498
Jeep patriot converter recall my 2015 jeep patriot completely shut down on me and was unable to be put into either a drive or reverse option. the jeep shut down and could not be driven due to the cadillac converter. the transmission on the jeep became physically torn into pieces while it was overworked due to the converter issue, and my exhaust system was overworked. acceleration became an issue as well. had to have the jeep towed, and repaired with high costs due to the serious problem of it not being driveable. i had the converter replaced, the transmission replaced, and other small repairs in order to fix it and save it. i have not had any issue with the engine as of yet, and am hoping to avoid any in the future. i just became aware of the national recall for jeep patriots and their converter malfunctions. please advise me how i can go about sending my receipts for these repairs to be reimbursed.
I am seeing many similar complaints about this vehicle. my 2015 jeep patriot used to kick back while i was accelerating which developed into a stall after a couple of months. i took it to a shop and they gave me new spark plugs and cleaned my air intake valves in hopes that it would fix the issue. the car gives no warning or code to describe what is happening. for about a week there were no issues and then it stalled on me twice today and power steering goes out. i was stopped at a red light and accelerated once it turned green but it stalled before i could make it all the way through the intersection. i could barely steer out of the way of other vehicles, have to put my car in park and shut it off. then i have to sit there for a couple minutes before restarting the car. this is a huge safety issue and i am afraid to drive my car especially during rush hour.
Driving the jeep on the road and suddenly it turns off and steering wheel locks up, but before it happens, notice the vehicle jerks. this happen while driving on highway 73 going home from the grocery store. after i turn off the road, turn the key off and sitting there for a few minutes and turn the key, it will start and take me a few blocks and the same thing happens again. have to push the gas pedal to stay on the road.
Etc light was coming on, car would not accelerate as should when gas pedal was pressed. car would jerk forward as if was about to die. trying to get onto highway is always sketchy. finally went completely out and leaving me broke down in middle of 5 o'clock traffic after taking to dealership and being told nothing was wrong but needed a new battery went ahead and paid for just for it to all continue. finally told throttle body was an issue. got the entire unit replaced by dealership not just the sensor and not even a year later same thing is happening again. hundreds of others on forums for the jeep patriot no matter the year are having the same issues over and over! it's not safe! someone needs to take this seriously. not to mention it should never had happened to a 2 year old vehicle! if we want these problems we would purchase used cars. now i am in fear of it doing it again because it's driving the same not going when gassed jerking forward, even in idle, not just for safety reasons for financial reasons as well. how can do many different year models have the same issues and this not be a mopar recall
I own a 2015 jeep and while driving down a neighborhood street turning onto a major highway my vehicle started to slow. when i pressed the accelerator my vehicle would not accelerate and continue to slow. my vehicle them came to a complete stop in the middle of the highway. i attempted to turn the vehicle on again and the vehicle would not start. i was then forced to push the vehicle off the side of the road to safety since there were other vehicle driving behind me. after having the vehicle towed to an auto repair shop i was told the fuel pump had to be replaced. the fuel pump did not give any advanced warning, no indicator lights came on the vehicle to inform me. i was put in an unsafe position when my vehicle broke down. i have less than 40k miles on my jeep there is no way a fuel pump would go out on such a new vehicle with low miles. it cost me $556.02 to replace the fuel pump. however once the pump was replaced the fuel gauge would not read correctly. the actual gauge was functioning but the fuel pump would not send correct readings and my gauge would not mark more than 3/4 tank even when the tank was fuel. in the end i had to replace the fuel pump three times before the gauge would mark from empty to full correctly. all these events cause me to believe the fuel pump is faulty and should be recalled and corrected.
The engine shut off twice without warning while we were on the freeway. the second time the engine stalled was 4 days after we picked the car up from hunter jeep service dept, who told us the issue was repaired and everything was fine now.
