While driving or in a parked position while the engine runs, the rpm needle drops to zero 0 and my car doesn't accelerate when pressing the gas pedal. there are times i am on the highway and rpm drops to zero 0 and i have to pull over on the shoulders. i would have to put the car in park, and shut my car off for extra minutes or more before i can fully restart it. if i try turning the car on before the 2 minutes it would take a longer time to restart. this is very dangerous because the car shut off when i'm at the stop light, in the middle of the highway. when making a turn, and the rpm needle drops to zero 0, my steering wheel becomes so stiff/harden and is very very difficult to complete the turn.

Car wouldn't start one month ago. it wouldn't even turn after 3 attempts. after 10 minutes it started right up and had been normal. today, 9/15/19, my car started up fine but 2 minutes into driving at 20mph my car lost all power. i was driving through my work parking lot driving in a forward motion. several lights lit up in my dashboard prior to losing power. i was fortunate enough to not be on the freeway. i put my car in brake and restarted it. it started right up, but now has check engine light displayed. my battery is a few months old. i've tested it and it's charged. i'm afraid to drive my car and consider it not in a drivable state. if my car were to die on the freeway that would be a very dangerous situation. car defect that caused this is unknown. .

My son is driving on the freeway at 70mph during the summer and all of a sudden, his car literally decelerates. he goes from 70mph to 20mph immediately. this has happened 3 times this summer, 4 times last summer (i have posted before), and multiple times in 2017 (everytime he comes home from college in the summer!). this last time it happened at the beginning of this month (sept), he was almost rear-ended and then almost sideswiped. the dealerships can't duplicate this problem (he's been to two different dealerships), but jeep knows there is an issue (there are numerous complaints). the car shows no signs of overheating and gives no notice that there is a problem. once he has sat along the side of the freeway for 1/2 to 1 hour, he can start his car and drive again. when is jeep going to recognize there is an issue? we have paid to have transmission fluid changed - didn't help. i see that a dealership elsewhere with someone else who had had the same problem figured it out and said that it was the internal oil pump of the transmission that ...

My car stalled after being parked for 45 min. in a parking lot of a local store, as i attempted to back out of the space. i restarted it and as i tried to back out, while moving only a foot or so, it stalled again. it made no sound at all while turning the key, but all the electronics worked, ie. lights, windows, radio, etc. it would not restart, after multiple attempts, i left it there over night and the next day it restarted, and i drove it for about a couple of minutes to the end of the lot where it stalled again while moving about 5 mph. it would not restart, so i had it towed to a shop where a friend works. they could not find the cause, but did get a code for the ecu/ecm. i don't know what number the error code was, but they don't do those types of repairs. it remains in their lot at this time as i try to figure out my next step. it is a jeep patriot sport (2.4 l) automatic with only 17,500 actual miles.

On my way to work, my car stalled 3 times while at a stop light and once while moving. after the moving stall, my engine light came on. the error code is p0339. it also stalled twice on my way home from work. it didn't stall while i was moving on the second trip because my foot happened to be on the gas when it tried to stall. i felt the car jerk backwards then re-engage the engine back to where it was before it almost stalled. the car had done a little jerk every once in a while, but now it's multiple times in a single trip.

Engine stalls while driving. the traction control lights appears when engine stalls. it may restart after about 15 minutes. this reoccurs randomly. after it starts back up the check engine light appears.

The vehicle shuts off while driving. the battery is fine however i lose all power. it is as if there is no fuel even though i have a ful tank. the traction light comes on along with the check engine light. i roll to a stop and let the jeep sit then turn the key and it starts right up. there is no warning or indication when it will ovcur. the check engine light will disappear after driving for a time and so i am told there is no code to be pulled. im stuck driving a machine that may or may not try to end me. tons of people have had a similar issue however my vin does not seem to be included in the recall.

When the vehicle slowed down and waited at intersection or middle lane, the engine shuts off by itself. when it is restarted, the power is back either immediately or after a few minutes. i read online and many many customers reported this problem, ranging from very new jeep patriot (less than 10,000 miles) to driving at high speed. the links are shown below: http://www.carproblemzoo.com/jeep/patriot/automatic-transmission-control-module-problems.php https://www.jeeppatriot.com/forum/5-jeep-patriot-general-discussion/92388-help-engine-shut-down.html when i took it to the dealer, they can not figure out the causes. the last time, they said it is the transmission control module issue. since so many customers reported this issue, this vehicle needs a recall. the unexpected shutoff is very dangerous.
