It wouldn't let me click on multiple other options like the windshield. snow blows through the front vent sometimes as i'm driving if i have it on regular heat or defrost. the breaks have always squeaked since i got the vehicle in 2018. i have to play with the seatbelt to get it to lock in place. the wheel sometimes turns on its own randomly to the left and the suspension is really off and bouncy.

Tl* the contact owns a 2008 liberty. while operating the vehicle, the sky slider roof top malfunctioned and erroneously cracked open. it was later discovered that the top could not be closed properly. the vehicle was taken to daytona dodge chrysler jeep(1450 n. tomoka farms rd, daytona beach, fl) who indicated that the repairs for the sky slider roof top were no longer available. the manufacturer was notified and did not assist. the contact indicated that the vehicle was repaired two years previously for the same failure. the failure mileage was 94,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2008 jeep liberty. while operating the vehicle, the sun roof was unsecured and a rattling noise was present. while driving in the rain, water leaked into the cabin of the vehicle from the unsecured sun roof. the failure was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. the local dealer was not notified. the failure mileage was 50,000. *tt*jb

Tl* the contact owns a 2008 jeep liberty. while driving approximately 65 mph, the soft top detached from the pillars. the vehicle was taken to the dealer (kindle auto plaza, 525 stone harbor blvd, cape may, new jersey 08210) where they determined that the soft top needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the contact also mentioned that the soft top roof was previously repaired at the dealer (pellegrino chrysler jeep, 241 glassboro road, woodbury heights, new jersey 08097). the manufacturer was notified of the failure and complaint number: 34715617 was filed. the approximate failure mileage was 127,000. *tt *tr

Driving on the highway my sky slider folded back off the track making a horrific sound. the power button used to open and close the sky slider does not work. it just makes a grinding noise. we had to manually push the sky slider down. there is also a leaking issue when there is rain. water pours into the vehicle from around the front interior lights on the roof between the driver and passenger seat. there is also water marks from the sky slider leaking. i also have a sensor that stays on constantly. the sensor is for low tire pressure.

Our 2008 jeep liberty has a defective sky slider roof. despite being properly maintained, it has jumped the tracks and had to be forced closed. we are concerned about the safety if it does not remain closed while driving. we have contacted jeep who refuses to help. after reading numerous complaints online, we are questioning why there has not been a recall as this is an obvious safety concern and can leave owners unable to use their vehicles.

My roof sky slider has been disconnected from the track that it connects to and will not stay on the roof without manual intervention. i currently have the roof taped down so it does not fly off while driving. with the slider being disconnected, it has caused many leaks to allow water into the inside of the vehicle, damaging the roof, floorboards, and has gotten into some of the electrical areas such as overhead lights above front dash. initial disconnect happened while driving and skyslider was closed. it started to open up in the front right corner from wind pressure and without pushing the button to open it. upon further investigation, it has been determined that the pins that keep the slider in place disconnected and will not connect back together. currently front passenger side, rear driver side, and rear passenger side all have disconnected pins and the slider will not stay on the roof without intervention. i have contacted chrysler and they said that there are no recalls for this issue. this is very much a safety issue as if i were to remove the tape holding the roof down, it would fly off while driving, putting myself and others in danger. mechanical malfunction (and poor manufacturing in my opinion) is the main problem that has caused this issue. i had used the slider less than 10 times before this happened. i contacted insurance to open a claim and they said it would fall under mechanical malfunction and that was not covered in my coverage.

Tl* the contact's mother owns a 2008 jeep liberty. while the contact's mother was driving 60 mph, the sky slider roof opened independently and came off track. the driver was unable to close the sky slider. the vehicle was not taken to a dealer or an independent mechanic. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 74,000.

The sky-slider literally flew off my car on the highway with my one year old daughter in the car while it was raining down! my poor baby.

The skyslider feature on the 2008-2012 jeep libertys are a monumental safety hazard. i purchased my 2008 jeep liberty on march 15th 2017. within 2 weeks after buying the skysliders pins broke and the skyslider flew back covering my back window. if i had not pulled over the slider could have completely detached and caused a major multi-vehicle collision. i discovered that the pins wear easily broken because they are made of plastic. i am appalled that there has never been a recall and the manufacturer refuses to correct this, especially after reading countless forums of those who have had the same experience.

Tl* the contact owns a 2008 jeep liberty. while the vehicle was in reverse, the contact heard a grinding/popping noise coming from the rear of the vehicle. it was noticed that the transfer heat shield detached and rubbed against the driveshaft. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 13v121000 (air bags, power train, structure). the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 194,232. *tr

There have been numerous complaints on online forums on the jeep liberty limited edition with the sky slider. basically, there are reports on the sky slider coming off the track and flying off of the vehicle. my sky slider personally will not close because of a "system fault" jeep tells me and only some jeep dealerships have the knowledge on how to fix a sky slider. they want to charge $3k to fix the roof, but they are acknowledging that it is a consistent issue with this vehicle, that the sky slider will not close all the way, which results in it coming off at high speeds.

Tl* the contact owns a 2008 jeep liberty. while driving 65 mph, parts of the skyslider roof became detached from the vehicle and flapped in the wind. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the brackets and cables were fractured and needed replacement. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the issue. the failure mileage and vin were unavailable.

Sky slider roof pours water into dash and steering component. power steering has be disabled on several occasions while driving vehicle. when water pours in it saturates both driver and dashboard area running down steering column into the components. in addition, the lift of the roof causes vehicle to swerve when driving on interstate. noise created by this defect prevents driver from hearing emergency vehicles.

This is our second problem since 2010 when we purchased vehicle that the slider sunroof has come off it's tracks. the first time it was about a month after we purchased it and cost 1400.00 to fix now for no reason it just popped off and bows and track broke. rained in her car and shorted out electrical. this is a piece of crap and when i look at all the complaints it should be something they are liable for fixing because now its going to cost 3500 and jeep dealers are telling us they don't want to deal with it because it has been an issue from the beginning. what is wrong with this that jeep people don't want to take responsibility for their faulty products and the nhtsa is not making them. they have quit making this for a reason. because it was faulty and not something that would work. now vehicle owners are stuck with no options. please consider helping us! my daughter is in nursing school and i'm a single mother. what are our options. jeep dealerships don't want these cars back!

Tl* the contact owns a 2008 jeep liberty. the contact stated that the button that operates the sky slider roof made an abnormal noise when depressed. the roof began to open and then stopped. the roof failed to open any further or close from that position. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 80,000.

I have only owned the 08 liberty for 3 months now and i started seeing little spots near the curtain airbags on both driver and passenger side, but when it rains a lot or i get my car washed the spots get bigger and now it's coming down from the map light which to me is very dangerous and distracting while not to mention its leaking on the cars components as well. it also has started making some lights not work. i'm not sure if i'm right but i do see spots behind the windshield so i don't know if it's the windshield but it's coming in much father now. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2008 jeep liberty. while driving at 50 mph, the sky slider roof fractured from the rear part of the vehicle while it was closed. the vehicle was taken to a dealer. the technician diagnosed that the roof, frame, and head liner needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 60,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2008 jeep liberty. the contact stated that there was water built up in the dome light which allowed water to leak into the vehicle. the vehicle started to smell like mold from water entering the vehicle. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the vin was not available. the failure mileage was 100,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2008 jeep liberty. the contact stated that there was a constant leak coming from the top of the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to an unknown dealer for several failures that recurred. the dealer replaced the tracking and rear passenger side handle screws, but the failure continued. the manufacturer failed to provide a remedy to prevent the failure after the dealer replaced several parts; therefore, the leak continued. the failure mileage was not available.

Two claims filed per this complaint. 1) sky slider leak; failure - overhaul/replacement required due to track/cable failure. was leaking into vehicle, as well as leaking into dome light. inspected per jeep authorized dealer, confirmed sky slider no longer properly sealing and has failed, requiring total system overhaul and replacement. referencing various nhtsa documented claims, it already a known issue and in need of resolution.. i was responsible for paying all costs associated with repair, which was over $4000.00 total. additionally, the vehicle has suffered a substantial drop in overall resale value due to vehicles reputation for having costly defects and overlooked for recall and warranty. dealer performed repair at my expense, but i am currently requesting that this claim is properly reviewed for a proper, more cost-effective solution to defective unit. 2) vehicle suffers from temporary rough idle and significant drops in rpm's, nearly stalling itself out. also begins suffering from intermittent loss of vehicle and device related functions such as loss of horn function, intermittent or partial lights function or window operation. on 2 different occasions while operating under the erratic conditions, the rear window hatch unlocked itself as though the button was hit on mfr. key fob. these issue occurs randomly and typically last no more than 5 minutes before normal operation returns. due to lack of information on the cause of this issue, what components are effected and what the specific defect is capable of performing, it is something needing to be looked into for proper resolution.

Sunslider roof - broken frame and motor at approximately 50,000 miles. water damage. told not covered by warranty. repair estimated over $3000. gap in roof when driving at any speed over 30 mph. research indicates known issue by jeep with subjective decisions whether or not to cover repair and prior lawsuit. *tr

Slider roof creates loud wind noise when traveling 45-60 mph. also roof does not close properly leaving gap on right hand side allowing water to leak into interior. *tr

Letter from senator reed on behalf of constituent re 2008 jeep liberty sky slider. *smd the consumer stated the roof was fixed under warranty four years ago. now, the cables on the roof need to be replaced again. *jb

Sunroof leaking badly noticed a small amount earlier but lately has gotten worse. headliner is stained from the leak. drivers floorboard is wey from leak.

When i tried to open the sliding sky roof the sticky (tape) part became unstuck from the sliding sky roof and stuck to the car's frame that caused the sliding sky roof to break off the track preventing it from opening and/or closing. if driven now it will blow off and be hazardous. *tr

When i first bought this vehicle from a local used dealer, i never anticipated the problems i would be faced with. i have always dreamed of owning a jeep and now, i'm ready to take it to the dump. i purchased this keep on the above date and was told that the sky slider does not work. the dealer created a contract that they would have it fixed. 2 months later, they finally find someone in the area who knows how to fix this problem. we take it in, and find that the whole roof had to be replaced. the dealership finally agreed to pay for it after a month of me being out a vehicle. this repair cost the dealership an upwards of $4,500.00 and i am still experiencing wind noise. if i drive on the highway and a semi goes by, the sky slider lifts up as if it's going to fly off. i will never open the sky slider for fear that it will need to be fixed again (or get stuck open). i have seen many people presenting this same issue on forums with nothing being solved. please, it's time chrysler owns up to this faulty design and helps people out! i am so scared that this roof is going to fly off while i'm driving on the freeway and cause an accident. no one should ever have to feel afraid to drive a car they pay for! *tr

The sky slider roof stopped in the open position and would not close. the cost to fix is $4,000. due to it being stuck open there is now water damage all around the top of the jeep roof. *tr

2008 jeep liberty le purchased 9/2008. had to bring car back within the first week of purchase to have the strip at the front replaced. since then the roof has always been noisy and lifts slightly at the front while moving. recently, it has stopped closing properly. it will not close all the way and is buckled in several places leaving gaps in the roof for wind and rain to come in. *tr

I was driving my 2008 jeep liberty skyslider on a local road at around 40 mph. the roof ( a convertible type) began rattling and came off the tracks while in the close position causing the roof to fly up. i contacted jeep and they have no remedy for this although after looking this up online, there are tons a similar incidents. a car in which the roof flies up is a major safety hazard and jeep should be liable since this doesn't seem to be an isolated incident. *tr

The sky slider on the 2008 jeep liberty is defective and jeep will not do anything about it!!! this is ridiculous! it is going to cost $2,000 to get the thing fixed! i don't even open the thing and when it broke it was closed!!! i was driving in a storm and the wind caught it and broke it. dealership is telling me i have to have a whole new system...tracks and all! this is crazy!!! i called jeep for some help with this issue and they said there is nothing they can do, oh yes there is something they can do....recall this sky slider!!! i am going to continue to call them on a daily basis and keep asking for someone with more authority until i get my way on this and make them recall it so that we can all get our money back on this defective product!! i urge anyone else with this problem to do the same thing....if enough of us keep calling and complaining, maybe we can get some satisfaction. *tr

The skyslider roof on the jeep liberty does not stay closed while driving. it lifts loose from the track while closed and traveling at speeds over 50 mph. i am able to see the outside through the gap it creates and fear that it will lift open from the car. i have read of similar incidents where the roof did indeed fall off at high speeds. i fear that mine will too. *tr

The retractable sky roof came loose on the highway going 65 mph (it was raining and rain came into the cab) the roof will not work now and is parked in the garage unusable. dealer says will cost approx $3000 to repair. *tr

The 2008 jeep and years after all have a defective skyslider(as far as i know every single person i spoke with that has a sky slider had some malfunction) which seems to be a huge safety concern. this panoramic roof constantly malfunctions, the replacement parts cost almost a 1/4 of the vehicle cost and when it breaks it usually is not fixed properly. the concern is, it can come flying off at high speeds causing possible injury, also makes vehicle un-secure due to being accessibly by the roof, also causes rain, and other contaminants to enter the cabin area. i understand that chrysler is under government protection due to it financial situation but there is no reason they can not recall, repair, or have a engineered replacement for this due to the amount of complaints and issues it has. *tr

The skyway slider will not close fully, the road noise is so loud it is difficult to concentrate on driving on the highway. *tr

I was driving down the road with my 9 year old grandson in the jeep. it is always sounds very windy in the truck when driving. i was going about 25 miles an hour and the front of the top flew back. it scared the heck out of us. i was able to pull over and when i tried to shut the sky rider/retractable top it would not go. so i pulled it frontwards with my hands and drove very slow to my daughters. my son in law and my daughter were looking at it and we could not get it to work. so we put a buggy cord around it to hold it down until i could have to a place that could fix it.. i went to see him at 8 am the next morning and he said he has 2 of them in his shop right now and he also said he has many of them in his shop every week with the same problem he also told me that. chrysler knows this is a huge problem with these jeeps that have the retractable tops/ sky rider . i also went on line and there are a lot of complaints in regards to these tops doing the same thing. i was told that it cost $2,100.00 dollars to fix. they need to replace the whole rack.i don't understand why they would use plastic parts for such a important thing on your car is a roof. he told me to call chrysler.. well i called and spoke to a supervisor mack kelly at massey yardley he said the warranty is up. we went back and fourth about the top and i said to him, but you know this is a big problem so why would you not fix it? he said, "yup it is a big problem "but the warranty is up. i asked to speak with someone hire up and he said there is no one else hire then him. i also went on line and saw a bulletin recall and it states that they know this is a problem when they made this vehicle. i don't understand that they know it is a safety issue ?? we are very lucky no one got hurt or killed. they should fix the sky rider/retractable top being they know it is a ...

While driving the vehicle, water began to seep out of the maplights and down both a-frame pillars. panoramic moon roof stopped closing all the way after a wind storm and was open enough to cause major leakage (upwards of 3 gallons of water). i feel this is defective and could have caused a major accident, as traveling at high rate of speed, this could have resulted in the roof flying open. manufacturer has stated it is not an issue that they provide any assistance with, and the repairs will be over $7000. *tr

The sky slider roof on my 2008 jeep liberty began to open due to the wind flow at highway speed. i pulled off of the highway to attempt to close the roof. i was unable to close the roof as it appeared to be off its' tracks. i took surface roads home as i was concerned about the roof's stability at high speeds. once home we were able to close the roof most of the way manually. i reseached this problem and found multiple cases of this roof failing. in some cases the roof actually flew off and caused an accident. apparently chrysler is aware of the problem but has not issued a recall. any assistance you can give me is greatly appreciated. i am very concerned about this roof's stability, especially at highway speeds. *tr
