Recently reported FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM problems on 2006 Jeep Liberty

I first bought the jeep in 2008 (used). everythine i went to fill the tank, about 1 cup of gas would spill out when it was full. i got used to this but now the service light pops on and the gascap waring appears in the odometer window. spoke to my local mechanic who said that it would cost about $1200 to get it replaced at my own expense. the other isse is that i had to replace three (3) regulators for my rear windows (2 on the driver side and one on the passenger side) if there have been over 300+ complaints about this, why hasn't chrysler recall the vehicle to take care of these problems. *tr

Thought i was the only one until i came here...i didn't know it was a place to file a complaint.. if i fill up my car it does not automatically stop .. the first time this happened i mean the gas just spewed everywhere like all over me ... on the ground on the car... i just so afraid thought it was a defective nozzle for the gas pump...nope... it was my car. this is very concerning and i can never just fill my car with gas because even when full the gas will just continue pouring. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 jeep liberty. the contact stated that while refueling, fuel spilled to the ground and on the contact clothes. the failure was experienced numerous times. the vehicle was not taken to the dealer to have a diagnostic performed. the contact also stated that the rear driver's side window, front passenger window and the front driver's window failed to close. the dealer replaced the windows regulators. the approximate failure mileage was 120,000 and the current mileage was 30,000. the vin was not available.

Fuel tank overflows every time you fill up. only way of preventing is to never to fill the gas tank. *js

This has been happening since the jeep was brand new. there is no auto-stop when filling the jeep. up to a gallon, or more, will spill out if you cannot stop it in time. this causes fuel to get all over the vehicle and the person pumping the fuel. we have talked with the dealer about this problem repeatedly (in two states - new jersey and maine) and it seems there is nothing they can (or will) do. we cannot be the only one with this issue.

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 jeep liberty. the contact stated that while refueling, fuel spewed from the filler neck. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was found that the inlet check valve had failed. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was contacted about the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 5. *tr

2006 jeep liberty's gas tank overflow malfunction. every time i fill the liberty's gas tank it has overflowed. this has been happening ever since the first time i gassed it up after purchasing it in 2006. i have reported it several times to my local jeep dealership it was even reported to the dealership when i went in to get my free oil change (at 3000 miles) for the purchase of the vehicle, but they have constantly passed the blame down on me for not properly filling the gas tank. because i am either a. at fault because i am toping off the tank or b. i am at fault for apparently using the same gas pump all the time. but it doesn't matter who's filling the tank, nor does it matter which gas station i go to gas ends up getting on me, the side of the jeep, and on the ground which is hazardous all the way around. i understand that the tank is under recall to have a hitch installed, to protect it from rear end collisions but i have no interest, in participating in the recall until the overflow problem is resolved. *tr
