Recently reported VISIBILITY problems on 2006 Jeep Liberty

Tl*the contact owns a 2006 jeep liberty. the window regulator and glass were redesigned by the corporation, which was a result of the windows malfunctioning. the contact stated that all of the windows in the vehicle would randomly fall down into the door and fail to come back up. he was forced to tape the windows in the up position in his vehicle. through research, the contact discovered that this was a common failure. he spoke with a service technician at the dealer who admitted that many other consumers experience the same defect as well. they also stated that the window regulator needs to be replaced. the failure mileage was 81,000 and current mileage was 84,000.

Right rear window regulator/motor went out again. the dealership actually said this is incredibly common and they service it regularly. normal cost would be $220.00 however, my vehicle was made before 01/19/2006 so it's $380.00. the window won't go up and suddenly came down. *tr

Power window regulator failed this is second time a window regulator has failed one back and one front window. this is not only a hazard but could cause more damage if raining. there is also a child hazard if the window came down at the wrong time. bad part still under warranty they will fix but need new type part. *tr

The driver's rear window regulator broke and now the window will not go up and down and slides down by itself. chrysler only sells the motor and regulator and everything as one package, so even though i can hear the motor working and it is most likely a broken piece of plastic, because that is what jeeps use for regulators, that is causing the problem im going to have to pay 300 dollars to buy everything. if chrysler would use a metal bracket as a regulator instead of a cheap piece of plastic there would not be so many problems with jeep liberty's window regulators breaking. and since they don't sell regulators by themselves it is almost like chrysler is doing it just to make more money and that they don't care about their customers at all. it is a little bit ridiculous that they have not recalled these shotty quality regulators or even addressed the problem at all. *tr

My automatic windows keep breaking - this is the 3rd time in. *tr

Passenger side front window fell down. upon investagatoin found regulator wire came out. *tr

1. accidentally pushed rear window down switch rather than front drivers side switch 2. grinding noise and window is now disengaged from drive dropping window 3. will not repair. thousands of hits on google for people that have had this problem with cheap plastic window to actuator connection. startled when window dropped in rear unexpectedly. *tr

Window regulator failed causing window glass to fall open. our family pet exited the window while the vehicle was moving. these window regulators fail easily and without notice. windows will suddenly just drop, or open. this can allow a pet or child to exit the vehicle while moving. also a security hazard as the window regulator can be broken easily by placing both hands on the window and pushing down causing the plastic parts in the regulator to fail. the regulator has to be replaced - if done by a dealership can cost $450 per window. the are many documented cases of multiple window regulators failing on all year models. *tr

My 2006 jeep liberty crd has had 4 window regulators fail in 28 months. i have 39,800 miles on the vehicle. i am the original owner. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 jeep liberty. the contact stated the two rear windows failed. the contact was advised by an independent mechanic that the motors failed and would need to be replaced. the contact stated the rear driver side window motor was replaced one year prior. the rear passenger side window motor was replaced one month prior to the failure. the failure mileage was 60,000 and the current mileage was 69,800.

Tl*the contact owns a 2006 jeep liberty. while driving approximately 80 mph on normal road conditions, the contact heard a loud noise coming from the rear of the vehicle. unexpectedly, the rear passenger window glass began to fall inside the door panel. the driver immediately pulled over to secure the glass with a heavy duty adhesive. the authorized dealer stated that the window regulator was the cause of the failure and would cost $450 to repair. the parts were unavailable for the repair so the contact scheduled an appointment to secure the window glass in the interim. the failure and current mileages were unavailable.

The window don't work and we have to tape them shut because we can't afford to fix them will this be a recall. *tr

2006 jeep liberty window fell down without having any reason. i have read on this website that an investigation does not need a specific number of complaints to start. i am just wondering why a part that cost from 350-600 to replace and has a number of complaints does not have an investigation. this to me seems like a one way for the chrysler dealer decided to start to make money. this vehicle has had all four window regulators replaced in the last year and a half and now the driver side is down again. when will the manufacture or safercar going to step to the plate and do what they say they will do? *tr

Driver's side window went off track and i took it to the dealer and they fixed it. now the driver's side rear window falls down for no apparent reason. it happens several times daily i can not keep it up. the driver's side window keeps going off track. the passenger side window squeaks real bad. *tr

Jeep windows: jeep changed the motor/regulator style and now you have to purchase a new window to get your electric windows to work. this is a known issue and they will not recall the motors or regulators. you can call any jeep dealer and they will admit that there is an issue with this and want the consumer to pay 1/2 the cost for something that they know is wrong. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2006 jeep liberty. within six months, the window regulators that power the windows failed. four different regulators had to be replaced. in addition, all of the windows on the vehicle had to be replaced under warranty. the warranty expires in march of 2009 and the regulators continue to fail. the manufacturer stated that they would not repair the regulators for free during the next repair and that no recall was available for the windows. the failure mileage was 21,000.

Wanted a smoke and rolled down the rear window a little by mistake. tried to roll it up and nothing. look back and the window is sitting halfway down. pulled over to try and get the window up and the door wont open. piece of the window assembly is interfering with the lock because the kids got in that door when we left. door will not open from inside or outside. it opens 1/2 inch and sticks. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2006 jeep liberty 4x4. while driving approximately 45 mph, the contact accidentally lowered the rear driver's side window. she attempted to close the window, but was unsuccessful. she pulled over to the side of the road to physically push the window back up; however, the window fell into the door. the vehicle was driven in cold weather with the window down and the contact's toddler in the back seat. the vehicle was inspected by a local mechanic at her residence and she was informed that the regulator needed to be replaced. the dealer has not been notified. the manufacturer advised her to call the senior department, but she received no assistance. the current mileage was 46,000 and failure mileage was 45,975.

Like many jeep liberty owners, i too have a rear driver's window that is taped up to prevent it from falling down into the door. my mileage at the time 32,000. estimated cost $280.00. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 jeep liberty. the contact stated while driving approximately 35 mph, the rear drivers side window fell into the door panel. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who informed the contact that the window motor failed. the vehicle was repaired. the failure since recurred on two occasions; on the rear driver's window and the rear passenger window. the vehicle was taken back to an authorized dealer to be repaired on each occasion. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 25,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 jeep liberty. the contact stated that the window regulators continuously fail, causing the windows to fall into the door panel abnormally. the vehicle was repaired by an authorized dealer the first three times of the failure and was repaired under the contacts warranty. most recently, the window regulators failed again and the contact was awaiting a return call from the manufacturer to determine if they would assist with the continual failure. the failure mileage was approximately 20,000 and the current mileage was approximately 50,000. updated 01/13/11*lj the vehicle has since been sold. updated 01/27/11

Window assembly in 2006 jeep liberty keeps failing i have had three fixed. *tr

Two weeks after purchasing a 2006 jeep liberty, the rear left window dropped and could not be rolled up or down. it was repaired under warranty. the next time it was the right rear window and it cost $429.26. three weeks later the rear left window dropped again. this time we contacted jeep/chrysler and were told that although the warranty for this problem had been extended for the 2006 jeep liberty that mine was not included because it was built in october/2005. the agent said nothing could be done and there was no one else to talk to - it was a final decision. i called back and was told that the previous customer service agent didn't follow procedure and was "stunned" at the way i was treated and i was then assigned a case number and a case manager. there have now been 14 phone calls and nothing has been resolved. this is a safety issue. small children ride in the back seat that could get out of safety restraints and be in danger. the vehicle cannot be locked up and secured and it's scary to have to get inside an unsecured vehicle at night. the interior is being destroyed by constantly being rained and snowed upon in a region of the country that has more cold and wet weather than anything else. jeep refuses to acknowledge that there are hundreds of complaints on the internet about this problem, no standard policy being followed by jeep to get this manufacturer's defect fixed, and no recall for a problem that happens over and over again on the same vehicle. if jeep will not fix this problem with their product, then consumers should unite a file a class action lawsuit because the way jeep is handling this is just plain wrong. *tr

While i was away from my jeep, the right rear window rolled down and broke -- again. that was the 6th time this occurred in this vehicle to these windows. not more than 10 minute later, the left rear window broke, exactly as they all have done. so, this is the 7th time each of 4 window mechanisms in this jeep have failed. *tr

2006 jeep liberty window regulator went bad. on august 20, 2008, i noticed that my rear driver's side window was down a bit. tried to power it up, but it would go. eventually slid down into door. i did some internet research and found thousands of people that had to have regulators replaced multiple times. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2006 jeep liberty. the contact stated that the rear driver's side window regulator fractured, which caused the cables to snap and the window to fail. she called the dealer and they stated that the front window regulators were in the process of failing. the repair would cost $329 for each window and associated parts. the technician stated that the failure was common for this year, make, and model vehicle. as of march 12, 2009, the vehicle has not been repaired. the vin was unknown. the failure mileage was 60,000 and current mileage was 65,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 jeep liberty. the left rear window motor assembly regulator failed and was replaced several times by the owner. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was verified that the regulator motor drive assembly was defective and repairs would be made at the owners expense. the manufacturer was contacted and confirmed that they were aware of the failure but would not assume liability for the repairs due to the vehicle being outside of the factory warranty. the vin was not available. the failure mileage was 45,000 and the current mileage was 60,000.

Tl*the contact owns a 2006 jeep liberty. the contact stated that while driving 55 mph, the driver side rear and passenger side rear windows fell suddenly although no one touched any buttons to open them. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the contact was informed that the seals were not intact. the failure mileage was unknown. the current mileage was approximately 54,000.

1. i purchased my jeep liberty crd new in sep 2006. i noticed coming home from work today that it sounded like the rear window driver side was slightly open so i tried to close it and heard a grating noise so i stopped pushing the button. drove home. got out and looked. saw it was down about an inch. tried to raise it. same noise. used my hands and pushed it up. knew something was wrong. got the husband. he pulled off the panel... we saw the orange regulator cord was not attached. then discovered it was not screwed in to the motor on the other end. broken plastic. odometer reading 36150. priceless. 2. this is the first i have had the problem. i live in colorado and no one even sits in the rear seat. yes it gets hot. but i had a 1994 ford explore with over 200k that i signed over to my daughter when she graduated and the windows never died.... 3. appears since it is out of warranty at 36150 i will need to contact the dealer and pay $375 to replace the regulator that is well documented as nonfunctional. *tr

(1) this vehicle has been recalled numorous times for various problems. (2) twice in the last 2 months, the back windows have come off the track and slid into the door. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 jeep liberty. the contact stated that the window regulator would continuously fail. the front driver side window failed once and the rear passenger side window failed once. the dealer replaced the window regulator twice at the contact's expense. the manufacturer stated that the vehicle was not under recall but advised they would cover the costs for parts and the contact would be responsible for the cost of labor. the dealer made repairs to the window. the vin was not available. the failure mileage was 28,000 and current mileage was 41,000.

This is the 3rd time in 5 years that the ds rear window regulator has failed causing the window to slide down the track. the lastest occurrence happened while driving down the freeway at 60 mph. the window was not being operated at the time of the failure. *tr

The power window fail the glass going down when you try to up and they repair about 4 times in different doors the last incident was july 15,2008. *tr

The window regulators in my 2006 jeep liberty have broken and fallen down 10 different times in the past 4 years that i have owned the vehicle. the first 9 times were bothersome and about 450.00 each to get fixed but this last one is a safety hazard. i have a 10 week old baby and the window decided to fall down in the middle of a storm and i had to pull over on the interstate to pull the window back up to stop the flood of rain that was falling on my (at the time) 8 week old baby. my baby was screaming his head off as i am sure that much rain coming in the wide opened window at 50-60 (was driving slower due to low visibility in storm) miles an hour did not feel good. i had to find the right time to pull off the road then climb in back, undo car seat, slide it over and duct tape the window. i was alone and then had to reattach the car seat to the base and dry off my infant. i am thankful that no one hit us while i was parked on the interstate in a rainstorm with my child not buckled in to the car. i was in a panic trying to fix this. now jeep is refusing to fix this free of charge due to lack of recall. please make them recall this defective part so this does not happen again. i live in mobile, al and it is scorching hot and i can't be driving him around with the window down. also, it doesn't stay up for more than a day with the duct tape because of the heat melting the glue on the tape. it's just dangerous. *tr

Both rear windows on my 2006 jeep liberty fell down into the doors. the rear windows had only been lowered and raised four times. the first one fell at 19,000 miles; the second fell at 22,000 miles on vehicle. *tr

Bad window regulators, always breaking. all my window regulators have been replaced, and now i'm working on the 2nd round, and some windows have been replaced twice already in 2 years. *tr the problem is it leaves the car vunerable for left or even damage (depending on the weather) plus it's not safe, if you have small children in the back and the window starts to fall down while you're driving. *tr

1. no unusual events, window (rear driver's side) seldom cycled in use. 2. 1 occurrence, window gaped slowly from about an inch to three inches when car was stationary. and would fall completely down when driving. consequences? interior of the car was exposed to weather. 3. regulator failure diagnosed. part replaced under warranty.*tr

I have had to have the window regulators replaced on all 4 windows, with the left rear replaced twice. the first instance was at 28,000 miles, and the second episode occurred at 33,000 miles. a final incidence occurred at 42,000 miles. i was told that jeep is aware of the problem and that it happens in hot areas (like the desert). i was told to leave my windows cracked open so as to prevent the build-up of heat. these events happen as i drive, and in one case, it happened that the window came down while my wife was at work, and she found it after a full day. this created a big security issue as the car could have been vandalized or stolen. *tr

Front passenger window regulator failed. second time it has been replaced. *tr

I have had multiple window regulators break in my vehicle. i have replaced 3 of them at least twice. i have replaced on once, which is the only one i did not have replaced by chrysler. it is the only one that has not broken again. i have contacted chrysler and they refuse to help out in any way to pay for these. it needs to be a recalled part, and they need to make a part that will actually not break. my small child has to ride in the back seat with a window down, my vehicle is open for anyone to just get into my vehicle at any time, and any time it rains, snows, anything else i get all type of weather in the vehicle. i have received terrible customer service from chrysler . *tr

2006 jeep liberty with electronic window failure. consumer states that the rear electronic windows have failed and the right one has failed twice. mechanic states that it is a regulator/cable problem. *kb

Driver's side door windows (front and back seat) fall down and fail to stay up without tape. they have been taped up for over a year b/c we refuse to pay to have them fixed. have researched online and found countless complaints about this. dealership claims we would have to pay to get it fixed although it is obviously a defect. the main component of the regulator is plastic and runs on a metal track, causing the plastic to wear down and no longer be able to grip on the rail and support the window. newer model jeeps do not have this part, so obviously they were aware of the problem and upgraded the part to eliminate this problem. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 jeep liberty. while driving approximately 50 mph, the rear driver side window fell into the door. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic. the technician stated the rear drivers side window regulator had fractured and would have to be replaced. after the repair the failure recurred twice on the rear driver side window and once on the rear passenger side window. the vehicle was repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 22,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 jeep liberty. the contact stated that the rear driver side window control arm was fractured and inoperable. the vehicle was taken to the dealer and repaired previously for the failure. the vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed the failure but the vehicle was not repaired. they stated that the vehicle was out warranty and offered no assistance. the manufacturer was also notified of the issue and offered no assistance. the failure mileage was 18,000 and the current mileage was 49,000. updated 08/28/12*lj the consumer the vehicle was fixed under warranty but, there is still a 100.00 deductible. updated 09/04/2012 *js

The contact owns a 2006 jeep liberty. the contact noticed that all four power windows were inoperable and were unable to roll down in case of an emergency. the contact had the switched replaced in june 2010; however, the failure continued to occur. also the rear window regulator failed, causing it to fall into the door panel. the dealer advised the contact to have the switch replaced again. the manufacturer did not offer any assistance. the current mileages were 97,000 and the failure mileages were 60,000.

The windows on my jeep liberty fall from the track for no reason. they fall when i don't even use them. they have been fixed at least 5 times since i have owned the jeep. the new part that they install is apparently defective because they only last for a year and then they break again. this should be listed as a recall since i have seen thousands of owners of this jeep complain about the same problem, some having fixed the windows 12 or more times. this is a safety issue as well because the windows suddenly falling down for no reason can cause loss of control and also a safety issue that someone can reach in your car and harm you or create a carjacking issue. this problem needs to be addressed immediately. *tr

Dealership stated there was nothing wrong with my front abs brakes. still after 14,746 miles give or take a few my brakes still have periodic pulsation. i should of wrote this complaint 14,746 miles ago my vehicle now has 49,175 i bought it 34,429 thank god for extended warranties because otherwise i would have no windows because after buying a $16,000 vehicle i could not afford to replace all the window regulators that broke oh and i had to have a fuel pump module replaced it did not fix the problem my main concern on this heap im mean jeep are the breaks front and rear and that chrysler jeep will not be held accountable for these problems until a person has died. there are many other problems cosmetic problems like the interior and heater vents. but not life threatening. i also have many concerns with the electrical system but again the dealer crown motors of redding california states that they cant manifest it they cant fix it every time i get my jeep back from them it runs worse that it did prior. *tr

Hello i have taken my jeep liberty to the dealer at least 4 times for the recall and they just never have the part it is always on order. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 jeep liberty. the contact stated the drivers rear window regulator failed numerous times. the vehicle was taken to the dealer several times regarding the failure. the dealer replaced the window regulator several times, but the failure was not corrected. the drivers rear window continued to slide into the door frame. the contact also stated that the engine light remained illuminated, but the vehicle did not stall. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer filed a report and advised the contact that she would receive a call back. the failure mileage was 32,000 and the current mileage was 111,000.

Front drivers window and front passenger window stall when going up and down. had to have regulator replaced. *tr
