Tl* the contact owns a 2006 jeep liberty. the contact stated that the rear windows fell abnormally opened and fell into the door panel. the windows could not be closed. the contact took the vehicle to the dealer and was told that the window regulator needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the current mileage was 75,000 and the failure mileage was unavailable.

The rear window regulators in the 06 jeep liberty are failing at an alarming rate. ours has had both break once and the drives side twice now. i have contacted jeep with my frustrations with zero help. there are countless claims online, with friends, acquaintances, and even my local jeep dealer (easton, md) that all support that this is not an isolated issue. i have again been told that there will be no recall because this is not a safety issue. i disagree strongly!! when driving down the highway and the window regulator fails, the window drops. what happens if there is something leaning up against the window, a child in that seat, a pet? the risks are huge to the safety of the vehicle occupants and others on the road should something fall out. the other thing that is very alarming is that everything is beginning to present itself at a similar time for the vehicles showing signs of the problem. jeep claims it is due to plastic parts failing due to not enough use?? this makes no sense. to support my claim that this is an issue affecting a large number of people and clearly not an isolated issue, please see the web sites listed below. http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f28/jeep-liberty-window-problems-solutions-947700/ http://www.carcomplaints.com/jeep/liberty/2006/windows_windshield/window_regulator_breaks.shtml http://www.edmunds.com/jeep/liberty/2006/consumer-reviews.html http://www.jeepproblems.com/problems/window-regulator.shtml http://www.topix.com/forum/autos/chrysler/ti82j9au88ko7ljq2/p9 thank you for your time and consideration. *tr

My car was parked, when the regulator for the back passenger's side window broke causing the window to fall into the door. this is at least the 14 times one of the regulators has broken in my liberty. this time i was lucky because my car was parked. there have been several times it has broken while driving which is a safety concern for my passengers. jeep has not yet recalled the part even though they have acknowledged that the part is faulty. *tr

Tl* the contact owns 2006 jeep liberty. the contact was driving 15 mph when the passenger side front window opened and fell into the door panel abnormally. the vehicle was taken to the dealer who confirmed that the regulator needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was contacted, but the vehicle was not repaired. the failure and current mileage was 73,000 .

Window regulator broke costing me $210. chrysler refused to reimburse me because my vehicle was made in december 2005 prior to the extension of the warranty for the same problem effective march 2006. also, i am the third owner. this is a known factory defect and is not a wear issue or a maintenance problem. this should not happen period. *tr

Failing window regulator on a 2006 jeep liberty , chrysler is aware of the problem , does not want to issue a recall, or do a good will fix . est. to fix over $ 500. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 jeep liberty. the contact stated that over a period of time, all four windows in the vehicle failed and fell down into the door panel without warning. the contact stated that every window regulator was replaced in the vehicle prior to the most recent failure. the dealer informed the contact that there were no other repairs that could be performed for the windows. the contact stated the regulators would continuously fail every six months. the failure mileage was 79,000.

Letter from congressman brown on behalf of constituent regarding his 2006 jeep liberty; please respond to the cleveland office at 1301 east 9th street, suite 1710, cleveland, ohio 44114 tel. 216-522-7272 fax 216-522-2239 *tgw the consumer stated the power windows failed three times. the consumer stated the same defective parts were being used as replacements. *jb

My 2006 jeep liberty's back driver's side window regulator is broken. the window will not stay up and falls down part way when you are driving and needs to be pulled back up manually when you stop. when you press the button for the window, you can hear the window motor running, but the window will not go up. this happened when the vehicle had just over 48,000 miles. this seems to be a very common complaint for the 2006 jeep liberty and an extended warranty has been issued by chrysler to repair 2006 jeep liberty's with this problem which were manufactured after march, 2006. my jeep was manufactured in feb. of 2006. this window regulator warranty needs to be extended to all 2006 jeep liberty's. according to comments on the internet, this repair can be $400 and up. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 jeep liberty. the contact stated that the rear driver side window could only be closed partially. the dealer performed a diagnostic which located the failure at the window regulator. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made a ware of the failure. the failure mileage was 61,000 and the current mileage was 62,000.

Vehicle parked in driveway and the rear door windows just fall in to the inner door panel, must remove panel to retrieve window and brace up. if children were in the back seat i would hate to see what would happen. i don't understand with as many complaints i have read on line about this nothing nothing nothing has been done about this. i e recall make jeep repair the problem, instead of the customer having to pay $750.oo each time it happens, all over a $.50 piece. taking vehicle to mechanic to have the window regulators replaced. *tt

the rear automatic windows on my 2006 jeep liberty fall down into the door panel and cannot be raised with the regulator. this happened to me while i was driving and forced me to drive with an open window during a storm heavy rain, the rear interior of my car was damaged. i have had the rear windows repaired for the same problem multiple times, and they continue to break, at times that are unsafe. it also prevents me from properly securing the vehicle from theft until i can get to the dealer and they can "repair" it with the same defective part over and over again. you have so many complaints from many consumers about the same proble, but no recall. what are you waiting for a death? *tt

I purchased my 2006 jeep liberty in may 2011, however i have to windows that just stopped working. the windows just fail completely down without any warning one while i was driving which could have shatter and hurt my passenger. i contacted the chrysler jeep manufacture compliant line but they were no help. i was given a phone number to a dealership and was told i have warranty on the windows that only cover the list plate (if that's the problem) for my back window only. the problem after researching it this morning on the internet is the regulators in the windows which are very costly to repair approx. $260 per window. in this economy i can't afford to repair this and i should not have to because there is some kind of mal-function with the parts inside of the windows. they need to recall these vehicles because owner of them will spend money repairing the same problem at least 3 to 4 times in one year. *tr

The rear automatic windows on my 2006 jeep liberty fall down into the door panel and cannot be raised with the regulator. this happened to me while i was driving and forced me to drive on the highway with lowered windows. i have had the rear windows repaired for the same problem multiple times, and they continue to break, at times that are unsafe. it also prevents me from properly securing the vehicle from theft until i can get to the dealer and they can "repair" it with the same defective part over and over again. *tr

Right rear power window regulator failed causing window to fall. inability to close window creates cabin pressure oscillations at all speeds. these pressure changes are intense and cause a distraction and limit driver's hearing. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 jeep liberty. the contact stated that while driving 40 mph, the driver side rear window detached and dropped down into the door panel. the vehicle was not taken to the dealer. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the vin was not available and the vehicle was not repaired. the failure and current mileage was 41,600.

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 jeep liberty. the contact stated that the rear driver side door would not open from the inside or outside of the vehicle. the electronic key fob was used but would not allow the doors to be opened. in addition, the rear driver side window fell down into the door panel and could not be closed. the vehicle was not inspected or repaired. the contact spoke with the manufacturer and was advised that the regulator in the door had failed. the failure and current mileages were 32,000. updated 09/21/11*lj the consumer stated the door lock would not work from the inside. updated 11/02/11

Rear driver side power window dropped full open unexpectedly on 2006 jeep liberty; original owner of vehicle with 71,00+/- miles. repaired at dealer(costly). from internet search appears this problem is systemic to 2006-2007 models and repeat failure not unheard of...very scary at 65mph. *tr

Rear passenger electric window failed. slid down, would not close. repaired. failed again about the 4th of fifth time it was used. *tr

Left rear window fell down while car was parked. dealer service said the regulator was ok but the lift plate was broken. yet again, this is a door that has not been used in the last 4 weeks at a minimum. chrysler service rep who took initial call said that he gets lots of calls for this on 2005 & 2006 models. he went on to say that most of the time is it in doors that are seldom used. chrysler case manager stated that chrysler is under no obligation to address this issue even though they know it is a manufacturer defect. not only is this a safety issue, it is a security issue. *kb

Drivers side rear window fell down while vehicle was parked. *tr

This will be the fourth year that i have had to replace the rear driver side window mechanism in my 2006 jeep liberty. each year, the mechanism has failed while my vehicle was parked and not running (august 2007, june 2009, july 2010, june 2011). i have been told there is a recall for some models of jeep's to fix this problem but not for my vin group. i feel this is a safety issue as i cannot secure my vehicle while i am away and someone would be able to get into my vehicle and could be waiting for me to come back. also, the integrity of the interior is compromised if an accident would occur due to the window not being up. the window mechanism has been replaced each year but with the same part. no modifications have been done to help ensure this problem will not happen again. i have called jeep customer service and was told to use this website to lodge my complaint. my local dealerships have been very helpful with resolving this problem each year. *tr

I have replaced all four window regulators during the past six months, and i'm starting to have problems with both front windows again, which were the most recently replaced at about two - three months ago (less than 50,000 miles) at the dealership. it seems the original window parts were defective, but the dealership's replacements (that i paid for) are much worse. i fear for the safety of myself, my passengers, my vehicle and my belongings with this ongoing issue. and i am angry about the time and expense it continues to cause. the form wouldn't let me complete with the correct required information, but limited my choices to those that did not apply.....fyi *tr

My jeep liberty 2006 has huge window issues- already have had 2 regulators replaced and working on the third- jeep says they will only fix the window lift plate, but it's the whole regulator that's bad and they refuse to fix it- if i have it fixed, it's over $300 per window, and charged me a $90 diagnostic fee to tell me this- when is a recall going to be issued? not a safety issue?! tell that to those of us with small children in the back seat and a window falls down @ 55 mph! jeep needs to replace all four window regulators and at their cost, not mine! and not just the lift plates! it's only good buisness, especially when i've already paid over $20,000 to jeep for this liberty and now can't even drive it because my windows are crahing down! *tt

The car was sitting in the parking lot when we tried to put the rear driver side window down it slid down an inch but did not keep going. when we tried to put the window back up, it did not move but the motor kept spinning. it's a safety issue because i usually have my child riding in the backseat and stuff can fly into the car and cause injuries. i took the car to the dealership and they replaced it for around $400. they acknowledged the problem as being common but that the vehicle was not part of a recall or extended warranty that was given to older models. i called the national chrysler hotline and they told me that they can not escalate my issue unless it occurred more often. *tr

Windows have fallen from jeep liberty 13 times. windows will fall while driving or while parked without warning. *tr

2006 jeep liberty has defective windows that fall down and present a safety hazard. the 2007 jeep liberty vehicles have a lifetime warranty for the same defect. this is dangerous and should be covered by the same warranty. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 jeep liberty diesel. the contact stated that while attempting to close one of the rear automatic windows, the vehicle exhibited a loud pop and the window would not close. the vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the plastic window tray fractured and caused the malfunction. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure but did not offer any assistance since the vehicle was not under warranty. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure and current mileage was 70,000.

We own a 2006 jeep liberty sport, and the rear window regulator broke and had to pay $250 to the jeep dealership to replace. in the bill we notice it read "updated window regulator" which made me do some research and apparently there are thousands of jeep liberties with the same problem, but chrysler will not recall the part. for us it was a safety issue since we have a baby in the rear seat who was exposed to the elements. of course the car company and the dealerships still charge you $150 for diagnostic (although they know exactly what it is) and $100 for the part plus other fees. some people i found have had all windows replaced to a cost of aprox $1000 this is not fair, they know the part is defective, they should fix it. they do accept government money to be saved but the consumer is on its own. please do something about this. *tr

Power window regulators on my jeep liberty have failed one after the other . i have now replaced all regulators more than once. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 jeep liberty 4x4. the contact stated three window regulators previously failed. the drivers front and rear windows were repaired by the dealer who replaced them under warranty. the warranty expired which prevented the remaining windows from being replaced. the manufacturer stated they would not repair the failure; therefore, she had to pay for the repairs. the failure mileage was 5,000 and the current mileage was 50,000.

I have two (2) jeep liberty's both 2006 (1) renegade, & (1) sport, both vehicles have had the window regulator's fail, (2) - window regulator's failed on the renegade, (1) on the driver's front side window, the regulator had to be replaced on 02/12/11 & again (1) on the driver's rear window, the regulator had to be replaced on 05/18/12 this was on the 2006 jeep renegade. (2) - window regulator's failed, on the jeep sport, (1) on the driver's rear window, the window regulator had to be replaced on 09/19/11 & (1) window regulator again on the same window on 10/08/14 needs to be replaced, the same window regulator needed to be fixed twice within three years & 20 days, the dealer would not fix the window under warranty because it was over the exp. date by 20 days, why is it always the window regulators because it's a plastic part and that's why it keeps failing, that's just bull i have spent over 1200.00 dollars on repairs on windows regulator's alone & it's the same part each time all 4-windows, i used to be a great fan of jeep, i've owned jeeps for (20) years now, but i have become really disappointed with my vehicle's, the first time it happened i was on the highway driving at 65 mph when the window suddenly opened, the wind ripped through my vehicle started to blow things around so bad that i had to pull over and tape my window up so i could make it home, and i'm not the only one, alot of jeep liberty owners have had the same thing happen to them and had to replace the window regulators, thank you *tr

The rear driver side window suddenly, and unexpectedly, fell open from the fully closed position with a loud crashing sound. one open it was unable to be re-closed. failure in this manner was very startling and can be seen seen as an unnecessary distraction which, in my opinion, constitutes a safety hazard. upon investigation i found that the part of the mechanism that directly supports the window is made of plastic and further is of insufficient dimension to support the weight of the glass through repeated cycles. the dealer offered me the same inadequate part as replacement which is destined for the same failure. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 jeep liberty. the contact stated the driver and rear windows continued to fall down into the doors. the failure occurred at least three times and cost $350 each time it was repaired. the vehicle was repaired three times on the left rear and twice on right. the dealer replaced the lift plate on the windows. the manufacturer was notified and stated the vin was not included in the recall. the contact filed a complaint. the failure mileage was 27,634 and the current mileage was 57,000.

Driver side power window stuck midway and i could not open the door, the regulator cable hung up with door latch, had to replace the regulator assembly. glad i did not have to make an emergency exit. *tr

Rear driver's side power window regulator broke after only 40,000 miles on a 2006 jeep liberty limited 4x4. window received only light used, was not used while frozen with ice. this failure results from a plastic part that is specified in the regulator design that is not durable enough for this application. this failure renders the vehicle unsecure as the window either falls down on its own or can be pushed down from the outside by hand. it also causes a safety issue as the window can fall down unexpectedly. this is especially an issue during winter or storm conditions. incurred $250 in repair costs. replacement parts have the same design flaw and can be expected fail again in similarly short peroids of time. *tr

My mother bought a used 2006 jeep liberty has never had a problem,so in march of 2010 me and my husband decided to purchase a used 2006 jeep liberty from a trusty car dealer. within 2 months of having this jeep our right rear window dropped into the door as we were driving to a family function. my biggest fear was that 1 of our 3 kids could have been hurt by broken glass. my father repaired the window by wedging a piece of wood between the door and the window. i later called jeep who told me there was no recall on this jeep and that they would gladly split the cost with me which only cost $600 per window and they won't warranty because they know it will happen again. i left it alone cause we could not afford this at the time. a few months later in november 2010 the left side rear window slipped, once again my father repaired it at best he could. i finally went online to see what i could do repair the problem myself at a cheaper cost. i came across a web site steigers.com the gentleman who owns this company has created a replacement piece for the broken part and it works great. i replaced it myself with no knowledge of repairing cars. the only hard part was working in such a tight space..thank god my hands are small enough to squeeze in between the door and the window area. the part is about a $100 with shipping and handling and so far seems to have solved the problem it took about an hour to do all the work on 1 window. thats not our only problem with this lovely vehicle we have also had problems with the fuel spilling out when filling the tank. the tank seems to build pressure or catch air. i don't know all i know is it scared me really bad the first time.and we have also had problems with the esp especially when you hit a turn to hard or hit a big bump. how wonderful a 4x4 vehicle who doesn't like big turns, bumps or snow. and the most expensive part is the broken window..they told me its called a binding crack it happens to all jeeps so don't force your jeep to do its job..and work. *tr

Window fell in door, rear passenger on drivers side. self replaced motor window in doorsystem. plastic part inside snaps or shears off. bought a replacement part that has metal stops. no problems. have replaced all four window motors. they all snapped at different times. by husband *tr

In july 2009 the left, rear passenger window in my jeep liberty fell down by itself. in dec. 2010 the right rear passenger window in the same vehicle fell down by itself during a snow storm causing approximately 6 inches of snow to accumulate in my vehicle. these are windows that are rarely used. both the service manager and customer service reps at chrysler advised me that there is a faulty window regulator in the jeep vehicles which causes this problem, but no recalls have been made. *tr

The window regulator of my rear driver's side window broke causing the window to fall into the door. luckily my car was parked at the time and i don't live in an area that is getting snowed on. this is at least the 12th time one of the regulators has broke since i bought my car in 2006. *tr

The 2006 jeep liberty window regulators continue to fail. i have had to repair the driver side window regulator twice, the left window regulator once and the right regulator twice. the first three repairs were covered under warranty, the fourth one i had to request re-imbursement from jeep which was granted after correspondence with jeep. the fifth time i am still negotiating with jeep. they are aware of the issue as there have been many complaints with the same issue. *tr

Driving down the road at 40 mph. was not rolling up or down the power windows, when the back window suddenly fell from being closed to half open. it would not roll back up. it was startling and distracted my driving momentarily. faulty regulators were the cause of previous failures and the broken glass and i expect the same determination will be made when i bring it to a jeep dealership later this week for repair. the most recent (nov. 29, 2010) failure on the driver's side back window was the second time this occurred on this particularly window. previous repairs involved window and regulator replacement. this is a massive problem with jeep liberty suvs and a real serious safety concern in my opinion. *tr

Driver side rear power window regulator broke 2 times within 6 months. (same window) dropped while driving - 1st time it broke it was repaired costing me $259.52 - 2nd time it broke i have a temp fix holding window up b/c i'm not wasting $ to fix it if it is just going to break again in 6 months.. i cant afford to keep fixing something jeep should have recalled. this is a well known jeep liberty 06 problem. *tr

The rear passenger side window fell off of its track and fell down inside the door, where my 3 year old daughter was seated, while the vehicle was being driven 65 mph down a major highway, on the way to visit family out of state. i had a similar incident a year ago, but with the driverside window. this window track was covered under warranty but the glass had to be paid out of pocket (because of a change done to the new track). the recent passenger side window is in the process of being repaired. *tr

1. power windows - three out of four of the power windows on my 2006 jeep liberty sport have fallen within the last month. it is not wear and tear because i hardly use the back windows, it is a defect. i have an infant daughter and this is a hazard for her since she has to ride in the back. 2. electrical sensors - while coming to a slow stop or turning my vehicle has suddenly shut off for no apparent reason. *****both of these issues are common with this make & model. why is there no recall? is chrysler waiting on someone to die before they make a move? i can't afford the ridiculous price to have these defects fixed. i have to feed my family...so i must tape my windows up and hope they don't get broken in to. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 jeep liberty. the contact stated that the window regulators for the front and rear driver side windows failed. the windows had fallen down into the door panels abnormally and could not be closed. the vehicle was taken to the dealer who advised that the window regulators needed to be replaces and there were no recalls for the failure. the manufacturer was notified of the issue and but provided no assistance. the vin was unavailable. the failure mileage was 68,785.

My car was parked, when the regulator for the back passenger's side window broke causing the window to fall completely into the door. this is at least the 13 time one of the regulators has broken in my liberty. this time i was lucky because my car was parked. there have been several times it has broken while driving which is a safety concern for my passengers. jeep has not yet recalled the part even though they have acknowledged that the part is faulty. *tr

While driving down the street, the right rear window fell off it's track. this is the third time this has happened, the other times involved the front passenger's window in april of '07, and the left rear window in july of '08.. the first two were covered by warranty. our '06 jeep is one year past the 36 month warranty and has about 22,000 miles. i have talked with two dealers and the chrysler complaint line and the information so far is that chrysler, even though the problem is pervasive enough that they issued service bulletin # 23-008-09 to the dealers acknowledging the chronic problem, will not accept responsibility and makes the owner foot the bill. i have since been online and there are literally thousands of similar instances being reported. someone is going to get killed. chrysler needs to suck it up and issue a recall. period. *tr

Yet again, a complaint against the faulty window regulator in the jeep liberty. i've had 2 window regulators fail in the last 3 weeks. there needs to be a recall on this and jeep needs to be held accountable for the faulty part. *tr
