On average, the 2005 Jeep Liberty starts to “feel” problems with the UNKNOWN OR OTHER and its various aspects after 93 270 miles.

Recently reported UNKNOWN OR OTHER problems on 2005 Jeep Liberty

Ignition switch not turning when attempting to crank vehicle. i had recently drove my vehicle. prior to the incident my ignition switch made a louder noise when i attempted to turn over the vehicle. now it's not working at all.

The nhtsa required jeep to issue a recall on fractured rear control arms that could cause reduced vehicle control and cause a crash. i have been trying since july 11 to schedule my vehicle for repair with friendship jeep in bristol, tn. they say they cannot get the parts because jeep is only allowing them to order 4-5 at a time and then they back order them. when i called the recall assistance center, they are saying mopar has them on national back order. it seems neither jeep or mopar care much about driver safety. how are consumers supposed to get their recalled vehicles repaired when parts aren't available?

Jeep liberty window regulator bracket failure.i have had three window regulator bracket failures on my 2005 jeep liberty making the window inoperable. one of the failures was within 60 days or replacement. there is no point replacing the equipment if it breaks right away. it's a very bad design and going over a bump can cause he window to suddenly crash down, fortunately mine didn't break. how is this not a recall? i only have approximately 80,000 mile son my jeep.

Takata recall: while driving, especially uphill or at high speeds (such as the interstate) the vehicle will sputter and shake and lose horsepower (this especially happens during warm weather). when this happens, the odometer drops, and you cannot get the speed to increase, which is a terrifying experience when you're travelling on the interstate with cars going 70+ mph behind you and you have tractor trailers beside you. i've taken my jeep to 3+ garages to remedy the issue, and they're all left scratching their heads because the system has wiped every code that was thrown, and everything they try does not help matters - none of them know what to do aside from guessing and replacing parts. the last garage i went to researched the issue, as did i, and there are countless forums with these complaints about jeeps. furthermore, a lot go on to say they replaced this, that, and the other and the problem goes away for a small amount of time before starting up again, and they and their mechanics are also at a loss. this has been about 2 years of researching, garage work, and an inability to take the vehicle long distances or high speeds. one post i read even said it could be a serious fire hazard which is dangerous for those in the vehicle and those on the roadway.

The windows fell into the door when roling down the drivers rear window. this is the 4th time this has happened and not just this window. i have replaced 3 window regulators and 2 windows. the plastic component holding the window in place has a tiny meatal clip to hold a ball joint to the window and its not strong enough to hold the window in place. for a vehicle designed for off roading i cant see how this is good. the last time this occured was during a rain storm and my 6 yr old got soaked when it fell. just glad the window didnt shatter this time. i almost lost control when this happened and had to find a place to pull over to help him.

Manual transmission reverse pops out of gear. sunroof blew off and whipped behind into traffic while driving to work on highway 1 at 55mph.

Window regulator failing. two window regulators have failed so far. for the first time, the rear passenger window fell while the vehicle was stationary and i was closing it when a large snap was heard and it fell into the door. the second time, the rear driver window fell. i did not notice when it fell, but when i went to drive one morning it was halfway down. i thought i just forgot to roll it up, but apparently that one failed as well and got stuck halfway down. in both cases the car was stationary on a driveway, then a parking lot. luckily nothing was stolen or damaged inside. the first incident was on june 2016, the second time october 20 2016

It's rusting under my jeep, the brakes and brake lines are rusting at an alarming rate and the undercarriage is rusting fast. i was driving when my rusty brake line broke. .i i am still paying for this jeep. and i heard of the gas tank having problems.

Every 2002-2007 jeep liberty has defective window regulators. when they break, they are replaced with another defective window regulator again and again. the dealers make $400 a pop to do this and chrysler thinks it is ok. they finally recalled 2006-2007 what about the rest? i missed the recall by one year and my window regulators just continue to break. it is discrimination. your car can be parked and you walk out and see the window down. you can be driving when it happens. your car is never secure. you can be rob or worse killed since anyone can get in when it is down. also, rain, snow, insects or animals can all enter your car but that is not a defect to chrysler. it is time for a recall.

Ignition switch problems-car front head lights and dash board lights are continuous blinking on and off and blowing out constantly. this incidence has occurred several times while operating my vehicle being on the highway or side streets, i do not feel safe driving this vehicle.

Seat belts do not retract doors on the bottom are rusting out along with the window drains paint is bubbling on the side wells.this car is garage kept!we have read about it auto guide.com

Trying to get letter of compliance on an english jeep saying it meets us min. safety standard. i have called several numbers and keep being sent to another number. the car was built in onio but no one seems to know where to get this information. can you help me?

On 6/5/2015, while on the freeway, the dashboard went crazy. engine and airbag lights flashed, fuel, temperature, and speed gauges went dead (zero), air conditioning stopped. i drove straight to the elk grove dealership's service department. they were unable to find what was wrong. unable to duplicate the problem and the computer memory did not showed them anything. they performed the 120k service instead. on 6/18/2015, while driving at 15mph it happened again. this time, i pulled to the side of the road and took a video of the dashboard, and again drove to the elk grove dealership. as of today, they have been unable to diagnose/find what is wrong. they know is a control module, but do not know which one. since other jeep models experiencing similar problems have been subject to recall, i want to know why not for the 2005 model. i fear for my safety and the safety of drivers around me should this control module kills the engine while i am on the freeway. i have been without transportation while the car is held hostage for observation. this module has a factory or design defect that needs to be corrected by jeep!

Just purchased the vehicle and could not get the key out of the ignition once i got home and parked the car. played with it for approx. 30 min. and then the key came out. drove the car a second time and parked the vehicle and could not get the key out. i went into the house and waited approx. 30 min. was then able to turn the ignition to click and line up and get the key out. the ignition does not allow you to make the final click once in park to get the key out of the ignition. i went online and seen that the internet was blown up with this problem especially in the 2005 jeep liberty as well as other jeeps. i think it is about time they make this a recall!!!! *tr

To whom it may concern, we have tried to have a recall ( n46/nhtsa 13v-252) scheduled and fixed numerous times with chrysler dealers in the area, only to get answers that they don't have the parts and that they can't complete the recall. in the meantime we have received several safety recalls regarding this matter. we don't know how we are going to have this fixed as it seems nobody want to do it. the car is in use every day and at times long drives on the interstate. please advise as soon as possible how to proceed. *tr

Jeep liberty 2005, less than 70000 miles. gas overflows upon filling up tank. at first thought, it was fuel pump. however, this happens at all stations every time it is to be filled up. therefore is my reasoning for my concern. search on line and found this is problematic; links below confirms this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=whehmnkxoyk http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f176/have-fuel-spill-problems-like-many-us-submit-complaint-force-recall-974337/ there are many reports showing these same concerns. please address this through the proper channels. it needs to be corrected. thank you

I received a recall notice approximately a year ago. checked on it in april 2014 with chrysler by phone. have checked on it today on your site. no new notification. still waiting on parts. still no notice to take vehicle to dealer for inspection. what is the point in a safety recall if there is no action on the part of the manufacturer? *tr

I just got some information from a friend that my jeep was on a recall. *js

Vehicle was rolling backwards when brake was applied while sitting on a hill at a stop sign. jeep would not move forward when gas was applied it tried to roll backwards as if it were a manual transmission.

Jeep liberty 2005 power windows failure. i have just scheduled, for the 3rd time, my window motor repair replacement. if this is a known issue, why isn't it being addressed? and it is apparently known as you may see in the links below: http://www.carcomplaints.com/jeep/liberty/2005/windows_windshield/power_window_regulator_failure.shtml this issue is no doubt problematic and has had numerous complaints. the above link is only one of many but represents several as you can see. my concern is on my model, i am now doing my third window and it should be noted as it is not coincidental. please address this through the appropriate channels.

While driving noticed driving wheels sloppy. there is to bolts in front frame connected to steering, when turn wheels one side stays and rest pivots as need to turn steering. on other side bolt and whole bolt and mechanism pivots and makes a grinding noise. makes a popping sound as well. have noticed recently that if hit a bump steering get very shaky.

Greetings, i am writing to you today because i have received several safety recall notices for the same recall #n46/nhtsa 13v-252 beginning in 2013. i have had my name registered with two different dealerships for well over 18 months with no repair work done. i am asking for your assistance in having this issue remedied. i can be reached at [xxx] for any relevant information or communication. respectfully, [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

The left rear window just fell down inside the door when i was driving. we took the door apart (so we could close the window) and found out it was a faulty window regulator. i called everywhere for a part and the only one that has it is a dealer at a hefty price. i was told that it is a commom problem and the dealer checked my vin # and i was told mine was not on a recall list. on my many phone calls to various parts supplier stores, i was told that the part is junk and it would probably happen again. the dealer says there is a one year warrantly on the part. it just seems to me that it is a no win situation, for the consumer anyway. total cost of repair, parts and labor - $283.48. rediculous!

I purchased a gently used car from a chrysler dealership that had two open safety recalls. i was not informed of these recalls at the time of my purchase. it is my understanding that this is an offense against the nhtsa. please feel free to contact me for further information. i hope this will never happen to anyone else buying from a so-called "reputable" dealer, as i thought i was. *tr

On the 2005 and 2006 diesel jeep liberty (4x4) the oil filtered is exposed to damage when off roading. currently, there is no skid plate available for the oil filter. while off road a rock hit the oil filter and opened a hole which drained all oil and caused vehicle to turn off. *jb
