I own a 2002 jeep liberty and had never heard of a recall on the engine! i did get a notice for the air bag issues months ago and have contacted the local dealer who maintains that the parts aren't available. didn't some other autos have the same problem? have they been fixed? i don't want to have a wreck and the air bags not deploy and then i become a crispy critter. nor do i want the air bags to deploy when i'm driving down the interstate doing between 60 - 70 miles per hour. again, possible crash with burning to death. someone somewhere needs to get chrysler to work. do they need a financial handout? guess i'm gonna have to trade this clunker in and get something other than a jeep. too bad cause i love my jeep. *tr

Notice of m35 recall received via post card on 3/5/13 from our local dealership. i have called the dealership three times and chrysler company customer service two times to see if the part is finally in to fix the airbag circuit so it will deploy properly. no one has an expected date of repair. the most recent calls were made today since our airbag light is now starting to come on periodically. i am afraid to drive the vehicle in light of this new development. hasn't enough time passed for the part to be manufactured since the recall actually came out in january? help! *tr
Received recall notice m35/nhtsa 12v-527 in january. called chrysler group recall assistance center on may 24 and was told the part was still not available. they still don't know when it will be. when asked what chrysler suggests a person should do if this is their primary means of transportation, and it is clearly unsafe to drive if the air bag could deploy unexpectedly. i was told that chrysler has no suggestions, and that there have been no accidents or injuries caused by the defect covered in the recall. after reading reports on this website, it would appear as if that is not true information. airbag light stays on while vehicle is running. no failure as of the filing of this complaint. *tr

Safety recall m35/nhtsa 12v-527 we are the owner of a 2002 jeep liberty effected by the above recall. though this may not be the proper reporting mechanism, we have found no other more appropriate to report the fact that chrysler appears not to be providing parts necessary to this safety defect in a reasonable period of time. we have been in contact with the dealer and now even chrysler. our dealer tells us that they cannot act until chrysler provides parts. this to me seems morally reprehensible if not criminally. what recourse do we have to legally pursue chrysler for their negligence? *tr

Chrysler has issued a notice of recall mailed in jan 2013. chrysler recall #: m35 nhtsa recall reference #: 12v527000 so far no parts have been available by chrysler, and callers to the chrysler group recall assistance center are not being provided with any estimated date for any parts and repairs. for a safety recall, this is unacceptable. chrysler seems to be stalling, or not have any intention of fulfilling their commitment. chrysler should be forced to promptly comply, and communicate completely with their owners. I own a 2002 jeep liberty ltd edition and there are numerous reports on the internet that there are issues with the #2 cylinder valve coming off which in turn beat the #2 piston. i drove my jeep home from work and parked in the garage. about an hour later i started the jeep to leave and low and behold the #2 cylinder blew and created major damage to the piston. there have also been reports of a sludge issue on the 3.7l engines. i have never received a recall notice but after speaking with a man that worked for dodge he confirmed that they did a silent recall on these issues for the 3.7l engine. i spoke with chrysler and they laughed at my issue saying it was considered wear and tear since my miles are at 138,000. i don't think this issue is very funny and it could have caused me to crash if i would have been driving when the cylinder blew. i have recently had to pay over $3000 to get my repairs done and chrysler refuses to help with the issue. had i of known about the engine issues and all of the recalls on my vehicle i would have never bought the jeep. i am only asking for chrysler to help with at least half of the repair bill if not all of it. this is a defect and if the engine was correct it would have never blown. this issue has caused me 6 weeks of trying to find a ride back and forth to work as well as two absent days at work. this was a manufacturers defect and they should be held responsible. i also received a recall notice on the air bag and have yet been able to get my jeep in for that recall as the dealership has stated that they do not have the parts yet. *tr

My air bag light kept coming on and off over a span of a couple of weeks, after researching online we found the recall on the air bag sensor. we followed up with chrysler and they told us to call our local jeep dealer to set up and appointment to have it fixed. our jeep dealer could not do this due to the fact that they do not have the part in stock. we kept calling chrysler and the dealer for the past several months and they both have no answers for us. the part has not been delivered to the dealer to have this recall fixed. my car failed safety inspection and i now have a red r reject sticker on my jeep. the part has been delivered to the warehouses and the jeep dealer said it may still take a couple month to get the part. *jb

My friend and i were driving to the movie theater in her 2002 jeep liberty, when we were stopped at a stop light. her car made a beeping noise, which was very unusual because it has never ever done that in the 5 years she has driven it, and then the word "air bag" popped up on her car's dashboard. we both looked at each other with very confused expressions and then without any warning the driver side front airbag exploded in both our faces. we were extremely lucky that we were stopped at a stop light and neither of our faces were close enough to the steering wheel to get seriously injured, but this was extremely alarming and shocking for both of us. my friend, the driver, has red marks from impact on her left thigh and upper chest. i am completely outraged by this! i have done my research in this particular defect happening in other 2001-2004 jeep liberty vehicles, and apparently this same exact problem has the possibility of affecting as many as 386,873 people. so the real question is: why have they not been recalled?!?!?!?!? what if my friend and i had been driving at 70+ mph on the highway?!?!? what if we had been on a crowded, busy street when this happened?!?! people could have been seriously injured - or even worse, they could have been killed!! this is not okay for a car to do this!!!! *tr

Recall m35/12v-527 air bag system occupant restraint control module. *tr
Not long before receiving an "interim notification letter" from chrysler re: safety recall m35/nhtsa 12v-527, my jeep's air bag light would come on while i was driving down the road. about jan 2013 i received the interim notification letter telling me that my "occupant restraint control module. . .has a small chance of experiencing an electrical overstress condition. when i received this notification i called my local jeep dealer, interstate dodge-chrysler in west monroe, la. i was told then and every month since that chrysler had not sent them the needed part. on jun 14, parts mgr named steve told me that the part was expected this past month but has not yet arrived. he promised to call me when it was received by interstate dodge. having not heard from him, on july 31 i called him again. i left a message which has yet to be returned. about two weeks ago i received a second notification from chrysler which seemed to indicate that the needed parts were now available. i called interstate dodge and scheduled the service work for this recall. they did the work today, 11/6/13. i was called and told the issue had been repaired. i picked up the jeep and drove it home. i have driven it again only to see that the repair was apparently not completed. the air bag light continues to come on and stay on. i called interstate dodge a few minutes ago and was told that they did the recall work and that the airbag light on the dash is related to another cause. of course, i would be required to return my jeep and pay an undisclosed fee for this repair. i should have been told of this continuing problem when i picked up my vehicle. i was not. i do not trust interstate dodge when they tell me they did the recall work. i do not believe i should have to pay for them to repair my air bag issue since this was the issue to be addressed by the recall. *tr
