Recently reported UNKNOWN OR OTHER problems on 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Backup camera not working when in reverse. stationary and in motion

The rear view camera fails to come on when the vehicle is put in reverse mode. as a result, its makes it difficult to drive the vehicle in reverse.

I've had my car in the shop 4 times for well over 85 days and it's still having the same transmission problems. i have very hard shifting with acceleration and deceleration, i have had the vehicle get stuck in first gear while making turns onto streets and i've had it surge forward on me. i've had updates, parts within transmission replaced and a new transmission. i now have been told that they couldn't replicate my issue and when i took it off the lot it did the hard shifting and then it got stuck in first gear while making a turn. this has always occurred in city driving, any weather conditions. i've been told that the hard shifting is normal in all 8 speed transmissions. i do not feel safe driving this vehicle. i have had several instances that a wreck has almost occurred due to it not shifting out of 1st gear. i was told that they can't go to chrysler about a buy back since there is no error code. i guess i'm supposed to put my life/family in harms way.

At a stoplight i pressed on the brakes and they were too hard to push down as i look to make sure i was in drive which i know i was and i was i was in dr. and they were still too hard to push down so i put it in park put it back and drive it pushed out at first and then chyna kicked me back really hard so i did that one more time and they finally engaged and we're working sunroof track keeps going off problems with bluetooth connection to iphone constantly wheels we are out very very quickly at 17,000 miles can already feel transmission slipping

Tl* the contact owns a 2018 jeep grand cherokee. while driving approximately 30 mph, the contact rear ended another vehicle at a traffic light. as a result, the second vehicle bumped into a third vehicle. the air bags did not deploy. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the contact struck her head on the steering wheel and sustained whiplash and a concussion. the contact received medical attention at a later time. a police report was filed. the vehicle was unable to be driven and was towed to an impound lot. the contact called her insurance company where they had the vehicle taken to an unknown dealer for repairs. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 16,155. *as *dt *dt*jb *tr

On multiple occasions, while traveling at varying speeds, the entire dashboard and infotainment system have shut down for anywhere from several seconds to several minutes. the engine has not shut down, but there has been a noticeable lack of power following these events. this has occurred while maneuvering through a parking lot, traveling on a highway, through a downtown city street and on country roads. the events have occurred at varying times of day and during varying weather climates. the initial occurrence was in june 2019 while traveling on the highway. the vehicle has been to the dealership multiple times for service for this issue, yet the problem continues to occur. they have replaced a backup battery to the start/stop, as well as the button, in efforts to locate and solve the problem.

Exploding sunroof while driving

I nearly died on 5/8/19 driving my jeep. i was going about 60mph on the expressway in the far left lane. my sos 🆘 went off on my phone and immediately i lost control of the car and wheels started turn into left and right. there was no more power steering and i had to struggle and force the wheel to the right and left so i wouldn't crash into the divider wall on the left and cars on the right when it would change lanes. this went on for what seemed forever. i reached for my phone that was flashing and pressed the cancel button and shortly after it began to calm down and i began to get some control. i don't understand what happened my phone was not connected to the blue tooth it was sitting on the passenger seat. you have an image that is described as a death wobble that is similar only mine was more profoundly severe. what is this and what causes it? it almost killed me. i could have had my grandchildren in the car with me. i do not want to go in to jeep an they act like they don't know or can't find the problem. this is a deadly safety problem and i am afraid to drive this car. it is safe and there is no warning sign. fix it immediately, recall it, exchange it, or refund it.

On january 23, 2018, leased a 2018 jeep grand cherokee vehicle from criswell located at 84 bureau drive, gaithersburg, md 20871. since that time, i have experienced an extraordinary number of technical and mechanical issues with the vehicle including a major safety concern: 'brakes locking when attempting to start vehicle (i was advised on 7/3/19 by a service advisor at criswell, that this could potentially happen while driving) 'vehicle not starting 'vehicle shutting down at red light 'a faulty drive shaft that was replaced 'rear camera freezing 'dashboard display going blank while driving i fear for my safety and that of my family and request that action be taken on my behalf. sadly, every time i take my vehicle to the dealership, they cannot duplicate the issues and are, therefore, unable to be of any assistance at all while i continue to experience issues on a weekly basis. jeep customer care (800-992-1997) assigned a case number and has complete documentation to support my complaint.

I purchased a new 2018 grand cherokee trailhawk edition last fall that was factory equipped with "rock rails". i have discovered that the factory specified jacking location "pinch points" are obscured by the rails and no longer accessible using the supplied jack. there are "cutouts" in the rails but they are not large enough to allow access to the jacking location points. i had the first service performed at the dealership and showed them the problem. they also could not locate a safe jacking location using the factory supplied tools. it is potentially very dangerous to attempt any type of tire change procedure using the supplied factory jack on a grand cherokee with the rock rails option. serious bodily injury and/or death could result if the vehicle was to slip/fall off the jack while following the procedure outlined in the factory user's manual. i have contacted us corporate jeep several times via email and phone (3/15, 3/17, 3/27, and 4/2). they assigned case #58203148 to the issue but have not yet provided any suggestions or remedy to the problem. i have not received any response from them other than "they're looking into the problem".*dt consumer stated the cutout is not large enough for the 'u' shape cusp of the jack to engage and provide a secure lift point. you will also notice that the rock rail pinch point is offset 90 degrees to the original lift points of the vehicle. this means you'd have to align the jack stand parallel with the vehicle rather than perpendicular. *jb *dt *tr

Several issues but the most serious issue was on 1-25-2019 when i had an appointment and parked forward into a parking space. i was early so i decided to back up into another parking space. there was an open spot right behind me. when i backed up in between two parked cars, my vehicle zoomed out of control, over an island about 7 feet wide and then off the island. i was trying to brake but the vehicle kept going backwards. finally the vehicle stopped. this occurred in the parking lot of school. . thank god there were no children out on recess. my son came and got me. i was so shaken up. my husband took the vehicle to the dealership. he was told that one of the system on the screen was on and he turned it off. we called the dealership to learn what the system was and was told no one knew anything about this. we requested the owner of the dearlership to contact us but no response to date.

My 2018 jeep grand cherokee has been submitted to the dealership for a faulty sos feature. the sos does not connect to emergency services and does not shut off. the system stays engaged until a fuse is pulled in the battery compartment under the front passenger seat. multiple submissions and "star tickets" have not produced correction and star tickets cancelled multiple times by the oem. there are service bulletins, but nothing is resolving this. oem not taking this as a serious safety issue. if something should occur, the vehicle's safety response service will not be able to do anything for occupants of the vehicle. it is very upsetting that the oem has not fixed a software issue and will not allow the dealership to replace the radio with one that actually provides the proper connection to emergency services. this is a defect in the product that the oem has had over 18 months to fix since this vehicle was manufactured.

The vehicle becomes very unstable (eg, it wobbles ) when i step lightly on the break at speeds of 60 mph and above. also, this vehicle has a high risk of rolling over ( i lightly moved the steering wheel to avoid collision with a reckless driver that almost hits my car sideways on the highway, and the car lost control nearly rolling over. the vehicle was in motioned on florida's turnpike.

Vehicle exhibited sudden unintended acceleration on two separate occasions, and caused an accident involving property damage. the vehicle, which had been on cruise control, was completely stopped in traffic for 30-45 seconds on i-95 in south carolina. the car suddenly surged forward while the driver yelled at me 'my foot is on the brake'. it subsided once, then surged ahead again, leaving skid marks and colliding with the vehicle in front of us. it then surged a third time, ploughing that car ahead, before the driver could shift the transmission into park

Transmission thumps, complete loss of power upon acceleration nearly resulting in several mva's. extreme difficulty in getting fuel into the vehicle, constant surges in rpm, dash display goes black, touch screen turns off, goes silent, will not respond, does not recognize key fob and on several instances has allowed me to start and drive vehicle without fob. mirrors make high pitched whistling noise. very dangerous vehicle. i would not recommend this vehicle to anyone who values their lives or lives of other drivers on the road. this has all been constant pretty much since we purchased the vehicle new. dealership has not been helpful. chrysler is very difficult to deal with. has happened since we purchased the vehicle new. very very dangerous

Reverse backup camera suddenly stopped work. very hazardous because it's a safety feature that's not working. god forbid i run over a child since i rely on the camera to reverse. i have video proof of the acquiring malfunction

I purchased the vehicle in november 2017 and june 2018 the radio started shutting down every 30 seconds. the jeep dealer had it for 1 week trying to figure out the issue. it was never quite the same after they fixed it with a 'patch' but i lived with it. december 2018 my navigation stopped working along with my sirius radio. intermittent restarts, jammed screens and locked bright blue screens also occurred. i was unable to use my phone or any other controls located in that screen. this includes my back camera and audible sensor. today is march 3, 2019 and the dealer has had my car since january 9, 2018. they received 1 replacement radio, but it didn't work. they apparently tried other things that chrysler tech told them to and that didn't work. they have ordered another radio, but the eta of shipping keeps getting pushed back further and further. the new date is march 8th of 2018, and i will guarantee the radio will not come in then either. i am making payments and paying insurance on a car that i don't even have. i am also trapped in a lease with no way to get out of it and get another car that works. this is far past unacceptable at this point!

Forward collision warning does not work. dealership says the system will work correctly if the adaptive cruise control is activated. all information in the various jeep owner's manual does not specific acc activation as a requirement. searching the internet reveals many people experience the same problem. jeep doesn't seem interested in helping.

Vehicle was being towed behind 2016 tuscany class a with a blue ox hitch. we made a stop turned left at to bottom of an exit ramp. the vehicle began dipping down and back up violently from right to left, back and forth, throwing to motorhome from side to side. we stopped and checked the tires for flats. we found non and resumed travel. a few miles later this happened again. in all it happened four times if this had happened at higher speed we would likely have been in the ditch. chrysler claims this is caused by a problem with the electronic steering but since they don't make a hitch plate for this vehicle they are trying to blame it on the hitch this is a known problem with jeep, since switching to electronic steering. they claim to not have a fix for grand cherokee, but do for cherokee. meanwhile i am stuck with a vehicle i bought because jeep said it was towable and now i find it can not be towed without danger to me and my family.

My 2018 jeep grand cherokee trailhawk's sunroof suddenly exploded while driving 60 mph on the freeway during a hot summer day. i heard an initial loud crack sound and moments later the front sunroof glass shattered outward. i was able to get to the side of the road before the glass showered into my vehicle and over my head. i shut the sunscreen which helped, but there was millions of glass shards and fragments all over the inside of my car and throughout the ceiling. this vehicle only has ~6500 miles on it and was purchased in march 2018 brand new. i had the car towed on a flatbed truck to the dealer that i purchased it from and since, it's been in and out of the shop 3 times. the dealer replaced the front sunroof glass, seals and vacuumed out my car, however the day after picking it up, massive amounts of glass remained in the ceiling area. the second attempt and cleaning up the glass, they had to removed the interior header and seats to try and extract all the broken glass fragments. i'm taking the car back in for the 4th time, because there is still broken glass shifting around between the sunroof and sunscreen. the repairs have thus far been covered by warranty (manufactured defect), but this brand new vehicle is ruined. i'll be working with chrysler customer care to see what my options are and if they will offer a new replacement vehicle or buy back. very scary and grateful no one was seriously hurt... i'm very disappointed and frustrated to say the least and the saga continues.

Transmission problems. the transmission shifts are pronounced, cause the suv to jerk and feel jumpy. this condition is sporadic, and can change based on mode - normal, eco off, sport . besides causing a choppy ride, the condition is unacceptable and may be a r a precursor to gear failure.

Car was sold to me with a open recall. it was purchased june 13, 2018 and has been in the shop since july 11, 2018. they can not figure out what is wrong with it. the check engine line and automatic shut warning light keeps coming on. car would vibrate when driving. screen would shut off when in reverse and in the middle of driving.

Brand new grand cherokee, only 400 miles, today my backup camera stopped working. on the display i have an icon "backup camera" when attempting to click this the backup camera would not pop-up. turned the car off and kept it off for 10 minutes, re-started the car, the jeep display does not pop-up with the safety notification and the backup camera does not come on the screen when the car is placed in reverse. it was working fine the last week and a half and all of a sudden this morning it will not work. i called jeep and they are unsure what it is and may be a software update. i just paid $60,000 dollars and have had the car for 6 days and the backup camera is not working now!

2018 jeep grand cherokee. consumer writes requesting a copy of any recalls related to his vehicle. *ld *js

Complained of an oil leak(oil marks on the garage floor and cardboard place to verify) prior to 7500 miles. dealership unable to find the oil leak the first time. took it back 1 week later to complain about an oil leak. dealership placed dye into oil to find the leak. leak was found to be the seal between the engine and transmission. when dealership went to replace seal, they stated the block was cracked due to "being machined during the assembly". now waiting for a new engine to be replaced on a new vehicle of 4 months. ouch!

The backup camera doesn't turn on when putting car in reverse. can not turn on from settings or screen either.

Siriusxm travel link - is the problem. i was enrolled by the dealer without being asked. siriusxm travel link pops up messages that are distracting to me as a driver. they pop up and will not go away without physically touching the high-tech screen. and they seem to have a habit of appearing when i am approaching a turn while using the navigation features. however, since they actually interfere with my driving (and frustrate me too) they are a danger. to make matters worse, i have contacted siriusxm and they are unwilling to turn travel link off. the date below is todays date, but it happens frequently. often giving me warnings for "weather events" two states away !!! regarding a crash ... all i can say is not yet (but has a higher potential).

Backup camera failed to work. jeep only has 3062 miles on it since purchased brand new.

I was driving on the highway around 5:30am. clear traffic and no large truck in front. speed around 65 mph and my sunroof failed by shattering for an unknown reason and glass fell from top to the floor. have minor cut and the glass. traveling on freeway.

I would like jeep to have a setting added to the car settings to have the default status of the the start stop engine set to off so that the driver has the option to have it off rather than pressing the button every single time. i was driving the yesterday and almost got into an accident due to the lag between the engine starting up and me pressing the accelerator. it poses a danger to the drive/passenger and other motorists. this is a simple software fix that fiat/chrysler could send out to all vehicles equipt with this technology.

I have a few occurrences to tell about. 1. when taking it through a drive through car wash it was propelled forward at an unsafe speed. the vehicle was in neutral but still was shot forward and the brakes had to be applied quickly. this happened twice. 2. after coming off a freeway and coming to the first stoplight, when the speedometer hit 0 the vehicle lurched forward. i turned the auto stop off and proceed down the road. when i hit the next stoplight, it did the same thing, lurched forward hard, when the speedometer hit 0. 3. while getting up to speed, 70, on a freeway, the vehicle seemed to "miss" gears and it lurched a few times. 4. when approaching a turn, at slow a very slow speed, i tapped the gas for a little more speed and it propelled me forward hard and i had to hit the brakes. 5. in the first week of ownership an alert popped up on the center screen indicating the control panel had detected a problem with the catalytic converter system and it was a fire hazard. after taking it to the dealer they told me they could not find this in the computer memory anywhere and there was nothing wrong. at times i feel very unsafe in this vehicle and the whole reason i bought it is to feel safe and secure. right now the vehicle has less than 1,000 miles on it.

Unconnect system in my 2018 jeep grand cherokee overland turns off and on by itself ever 60 seconds whether you are driving or stationary. i believe it started this morning or last night. you cannot use bluetooth, the heat or the radio. i called the dealership where i purchased the vehicle less than 1 month ago and they said i was the 6th report today and the vehicles in their lot were doing it as well. they stated that the unconnect system might have been hacked.

Display dash screen shuts off and on appx every 30 seconds, reboots, and overheats, driving or stationary.
