We have classified the 22 complaints from 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee about STEERING into the following categories.
I took my car in for a routine oil change and was informed that the rack and pinion steering assembly was leaking power steering fluid and that my power steering fluid reservoir was nearly empty. my car has 80k miles on it. this appears to be a common complain amongst owners of my make and model vehicle.
Less than 50,000 miles and told that the steering rack is leaking and that it needs to be replaced at a cost of $2600. this seems to be a common problem, why isn't there an official recall on this? this part, with normal commuter driving, should not fail at such low mileage
The vehicle radio/navigation system blacks out. system blacks on and off and when reset- navi udefined blinks on and off and system states it's in compromised for cyber security. i have taken the vehicle to the dealership 2x and will be dropping the car off tomorrow and leaving until they figure out what is wrong with it. the radio also tries to set itself to various stations. i have uconnect access and i have not paid for the service. i located yelp in the vehicle yesterday- the vehicle will be dropped off and i am demanding a resolution and i do plan on taking further steps with uconnect and jeep/cryhsler. the vehicle was purchased new. it took me a while to determine it was the uconnect as i thought it was my phone. i did not think it was the fact that i connected the uconnect to the phone. i also took my vehicle to 2 jeep dealerships to check on recalls
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 jeep grand cherokee. while reversing the vehicle, the rear camera proximity lines failed. there were no warning indicators illuminated. bobb chrysler dodge jeep ram (13007 wicker ave, cedar lake, in 46303, (219) 267-1226) diagnosed that the steering column module needed to be repaired. if the repair was not completed, it would affect the air bags. the vehicle had not been repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 70,000.
On december 13, 2018 we attempted to move our jeep from one parking space to another. turning into the new space, the power steering went completely out making it extremely difficult to steer at all. the jeep was taken into the dealership, who told us the power steering pump would need replaced. the part was on back order and it would take until after christmas to get in. we were forced to drive the jeep with the power steering not working. in winter, in ne ohio. when christmas time came and went, the dealership informed us that the part was still not available and we would have to wait until january 30, 2019 - 7 weeks since the incident occurred. here we are, january 31, 2019 and now the dealership tells us there is nothing they can do and it will be at least march, 2019 until they can get any replacement. we purchased this vehicle in february, 2018. and this problem occurred 10 months later. jeep should be responsible for having replacement parts available on their vehicles, especially something as important as power steering in the dead of winter in ohio. very unsafe, and very dissatisfied!
I had the electronic power steering module go out & also had to replace radiator after doing research i have seen 1,000 of other customers complain about the same issues and they not be covered by warranty due to basic warranty expired. if this is a common issue with the 2015 jeep grand cherokee why has this not been reviewed for recall??
It's been since may 2018 with in/out visits to the dealership for a constant problem. my steering wheel wobbles over 70mph on my 2015 grand cherokee wk2 high altitude, all standard features. this started after 26k miles and now i have 39k miles. i've researched dozens of forums and read through tsbs with no solution. i had the dealer replace the tires, twice, with michelin premier ltx 20inch tires, several road force tests, high speed balances, several alignments, rack and pinion replaced, front wheel bearing assemblies replaced, all new shocks and after alllllllllll of that, she still wobbles!!!!!!! the dealer has thrown their hands up and will not help me any further. the steering wheel only wobbles between 70-80mph. another customer's wheels were placed on my car and tested with same issue. privately owned alignment centers also confirmed a spot on alignment and wheel balance. all bushings appear to be intact. the jeep is not safe to drive on the highway.
During a routine check of vehicle fluids, i discovered that the power steering reservoir was empty. the dealer said "power steering reservoir is low from factory and is topped off during service". i reported this to jeep customer assistance, but have not received a response. i haven't noticed any steering problems, but i am concerned that this a potential safety issue.
Low power steering fluid. 2nd time taken suv to the dealership, for power steering fluid been below the min mark. dealership said they inspected vehicle for leaks, no found. dealership stated that in this type vehicles is normal that fluid evaporate and that just need to be refill everytime goes below min. in my opinion this is like brake system were fluid don't evaporate but will go low in the existence of a leak. dealership need to do an inpection with the vehicle operating to look for leak since it could be leaking straight to the ground when vehicle is on the move.

I returned this jeep twice to dealer letting know that the transmission had a hard bang between shifting, they continue to say that this normal.the service manager says it because of the electronic system, i told them that i have driving for over forty years and have heard of such thing and this sounds more like a torque converter issue not a computer, needless to say they continue to say nothing is wrong. i am in the process of scheduling another appointment because it continues to get worse. *js
