On my 2011 jeep grand cherokee at speeds above 65 a loud buzzing noise is created as result of poor sealing between the windshield glass and the flexible seal at the bottom of the windshield. when tape was applied across the seal at the lower windshield the noise was eliminated. on newer models of the same style the seal has been redesigned.

Is there a remedy from jeep that addresses the buckling leather dash and driver back panel? i would like replacement of the dash and a new seat. i believe the seat problem is not the panel, but the seat itself. the dash buckling is a hazard to obstructing the drivers vision of the roadway and the seat back falling off can hurt a backseat passenger. as a child acidentaly grabs it to climb into the backseat he would fall.
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 jeep grand cherokee. the contact stated that the windshield wipers failed to operate. also, only the front driver's side door would lock and unlock. the vehicle was taken to the local dealer (nielsen dodge, 175 state rt. 10, east hanover, nj) where it was diagnosed that the tipm was faulty and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failures. the failure mileage was unknown.
Over a period of one week, both of the tubular side steps broke off my jeep. in one case, i was standing on the driver's side tubular side step in order to reach a windshield wiper. with no warning, the entire tube dislodged from all three brackets and fell to the ground with me falling too. one week later, while picking up a customer at his hotel, he used the passenger side tubular side step to help him enter the car. again, with no warning the tube broke off and fell to the ground. my customer was injured pretty badly as his shin was cut open by one of the mounting brackets for the tubular side step. upon inspection of both tubes, it is evident that the tubes are very light wall and corroded away in the vicinity of each fastener, allowing the fasteners to pull right through the tube wall. what worries me is that there was no warning. neither tube showed any signs of being loose. the fasteners were (still are) tightly secured to the mounting brackets. with this type of "no warning" failure, one can imagine what would happen if a jeep is driving down the road and a tubular side step falls off. i would think that would be a major safety concern. fyi - my local jeep dealer expressed their condolences, but stated that on a 7 year old vehicle that would not be jeep's issue if it corroded and fell off. i suggested that the tubular side step falling off could have the same devastating effect as a bumper falling off. it was suggested that i should engage the dealer in more frequent multi-point inspections. yet, they confirmed that checking the side steps is not on the multi-point list. i'm making you aware of this because i couldn't live with myself if i didn't report it and later heard of a death or injury as a result of this happening to another jeep owner or to an innocent victim.
The leather dash cover is coming undone from the back forward and is bubbling and buckling. i am worried this will affect the airbags.
The two front seatbelts are not retracting and causing the use of the seat belt to become null and void. seat belts are not restraining. the body has rust coming from the doors, never been in an accident. broken under arms 2nd time being replaced within 6 months
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 jeep grand cherokee. the contact stated that the dashboard leather liner peeled off and was blocking the air vents. due to the failure, the windows could not be defrosted. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 68,000.
On may 28, 2016 while navigating my driveway, my car suddenly accelerated forward and crashed into the back wall of my garage. damage was done to my home and my car. i had no control over the vehicle. hitting the brake and trying to hit the ignition button did nothing to stop the vehicle. on another occasion, about two weeks earlier, i had parked the car at walmart, pressed the brake and the ignition button to turn it off. while in park and the engine off, the vehicle lurched forward and bumped the suv sitting in front of me. i am now afraid to drive this vehicle! i have reported this incident to my local auto dealership and chysler corp. the damage is being repaired at my cost.
Jeep grand cherokee laredo 2011 - serious front critical suspension connectivity point corrosion / binding (latest 12/2015) very serious problem, extensive corrosion with key front suspension connectivity (lower control arm main bolt/frame connection, both sides). issue so bad an ever-growing binding creaking noise became audible from the cabin. sound audible when accelerating and stopping. several dealer efforts to begin to address with service efforts spanning nearly 1.5 years. very concerning as this is a critical suspension connectivity point, if it fails the front end would collapse. servicing dealer victory chrysler able to diagnose shared how extensive corrosion is but could not explain why this corrosion and binding occurred. suggested we speak to chrysler, which we did to no avail (see other attached). we asked chrysler to investigate, they did not. we shared very much detail just as done here. we asked for monies spent returned as this was not covered under warranty, they did not return monies. at minimum this is a serious water control issue, and at worst a serious design/manufacturing defect which could affect thousands. no fix shared, victory chrysler noted to us the best they can do is pull the bolts again in the future and clean/lube if possible. notice at 1:40, in the video clip following, the recording on the colder day how loud it is. there is no reason for such severe corrosion here aside from a design flaw or manufacturing issue. we appreciate nhtsa's time to review our report and help seek resolution. short video clip illustrating noise heard: http://78449.choruscall.com/dataconf/productusers/ecarmack/media/nhtsa_dec_2015.mp4 chrysler case #[xxx] thank you!!! information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

Car was illegally parked in the middle lane, with no indicator lights on or any lights whatsoever. speed limit was 45mph, i glanced to off to the side of the road where 3 gentlemen were standing and turned back to looking forward seeing a car parked with no lights in front of me. i rear ended the ford focus going about 45mph. the driver of the first car (hungry howies delivery driver) was deemed at fault due to mechanical issues and being illegally parked in the middle of the road with no hazard lights on! the airbag never deployed in my 2011 jeep grand cherokee (massive recall with chrysler cars, and takata supplied parts) the accident occurred on 5.19.15 at 12:15am while on my way home from work ( hilton suites. auburn hills pd arrived on the scene and i was taken to mclaren hospital in pontiac, mi in the ambulance.
I have a 2011 jeep grand cherokee overland. this car is only 4 years old and all the 4 axles nuts are rested. this could prevent taking some of the mechanical parts off for repair. chrysler should have issued a recall or a free repair for this. *tr
I received notice by mail in december that my 2011 jeep grand cherokee had a recall (p36 sun visor wiring) and there was a risk of fire due to a wiring issue. i immediately took my car to dadeland dodge chrysler jeep in miami, fl to get the recall fixed. my car was at the dealership for about 24 hours being repaired and the next day i was called to go pick it up because the recall had been done and the car was good as new. fast forward to tuesday, april 14th and i am driving and stopped at a red light. my car filled with smoke and i could not breathe in the car. i had no idea where the fire was coming from so i started opening all the windows and noticed there was a fire by the sun visor. all of the electrical functions on the center console and the steering wheel had disabled and i was unable to open the sunroof to let the smoke out. i had to pull over, turn off the car and truly feared for my life because the car had filled with smoke and the sun visor was completely burned. the fire could have burned me had i been on a highway and unable to stop. i think it's incredible that i did my part, took the car to get the recall fixed, and was returned a car that was clearly not fixed. this fire could have severely injured me and i no longer feel safe driving this car. this model car has had several recalls, including one involving the breaks, and to be honest, i just do not feel safe driving it after what happened to me. i simply want back what i paid for this manufacture defected vehicle. *tr

Leather dashboard is separating from dashboard and may cause issue if airbag should deploy. this defect has been on the news. i filed a complaint with chrysler in 2016. since then, i've made trips to the dealership only to have the person submitting pictures be terminated. now chrysler will not respond to my requests to have this fixed. i've kept all communication. there's no way with the entire leather dash separating from the dash the passenger airbag be able to deploy properly. i've followed up and been as patient as possible looking for a remedy.

Dashboard is melting and leather is coming off the dashboard. less than 10,000 miles over 36,000 and bought a $3,000 5yr 75,0000 mile extended warranty and jeep would not cover this. potential safety issue. *tr
The dashboard on my 2011 jeep grand cherokee overland is currently peeling and is essentially defective. after talking with jeep and my local dealer about replacement they explained to me that this would not be covered under my warranty and that i would have to pay for this repair on my own. *tr

Back in june 2012 i began experiencing problems with my vehicle. the vehicle was giving a hard start and stalling while driving. the vehicle has been back and forth to the dealership for these problems and as a result the hard start is the only thing that was fixed. in may 2013 the dealership installed a device called the starmobile to monitor the vehicle to see what causes the vehicle to shut down. upon taking it off they told me the device did not read however, the problem seemed to be fixed. about 2 months later, it came right back to haunt me the vehicle began shutting down again. on the morning of 10/21/13, the vehicle shutdown and cause me to run in the bushes as a result. if this was to happen on the main road i would end up in someone's vehicle and would of had to pay for repairs for both my vehicle and the other person vehicle. help help help that's all i am asking for. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 jeep grand cherokee. while sitting in the rear of the vehicle with the lift gate opened, the lift gate suddenly closed independently. the contact sustained injuries to her feet as a result. the contact went to the emergency room for treatment. the vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 43,000.
I attempted to open the rear cargo door using automatic motorized opening system. the door began to open and then started to generate some loud, unusual sounds; as if the door was under some type of stress. before i was able to move away from the door the entire rear window glass exploded outward toward me. the glass shot out about 6 feet from the vehicle. i received glass cuts on my face and arms although it could have been much worse. i had the car looked at by the dealer. they believe that some foreign object lodged under the roof top rear spoiler. the spoiler is attached to the window glass and moves back when the door opens. since it was 9 degrees at the time of the incident, i believe that ice had formed under the spoiler. i believe that the design of the rear opening mechanism is flawed. the motor should have sensed that it was exerting an undo amount of force in order to open the dorr and should have automatically turned off or disabled itself, similar to how garage doors operate when there is a restriction sensed. chrysler/jeep was notified about the incident but refused to take any responsibility for the incident and the faulty design. *tt
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 jeep grand cherokee. the contact stated that the rear passenger door could not be opened from inside or outside the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to the local dealer (ron sayer chrysler jeep dodge in idaho falls, idaho) where it was diagnosed that the door actuator was faulty and needed to be replaced. the actuator was replaced and the failure was remedied. the contact indicated that both the rear driver's side and front passenger side doors later experienced the same failure. the manufacturer was not notified of the failures. the failure mileage was 50,000.
2011 jeep overland has a service bulletin 08-029-10. my vehicle has beenin dealership six times for liftgate not opening when it is in the heat and sun in arizona. chrysler acknowledges this will happen when metal on hatch. reaches 140 degrees which is equivalent to about 100 days in the southwest. is this a safety hazard and what obligation does chrysler have? they told me to live with it in the summertime. chrysler claims nothing can be done to repair no opening liftgate. *tr
This is for a 2011 jeep grand cherokee laredo (< 6 months old) the jeep had been parked outside on a warm day. i went to go open the tailgate, and the tailgate only opened part way before stopping. i then nudged the door open so it would go all the way and the glass on the tailgate exploded, cutting two of the people standing behind the vehicle. at that point the tailgate opened all the way and the spoiler at the top came off. i contacted the dealership who submitted pictures to chrysler. based on pictures alone, they stated that they could not determine that it was a manufacturer defect and therefore denied my claim to cover under warranty. i was instructed to contact the company customer service line and request that they send someone out to take a look at the car. they never sent anyone else out. apparently the district manager looked at the pictures and the description of what happened and made the decision to not cover it. chrysler claimed they couldn't overturn the district manager's decision. they strung me along for 2 weeks over the phone to tell me this. there is really no other reason than a defect that would cause this to occur. *tr
