On a cold day, my husband was sitting in his 2005 jeep grand cherokee with the defrosters on. he heard a pop and saw the windshield crack from left to right. the car was not moving and nothing had hit the windshield. there had not been a chip or crack before this happened. the windshield cracked for no apparent reason.i called chrysler to report the incident. the service rep told me that the same thing had happened to her. i was told to take it to a jeep dealership to have it looked at, which i did. after 6 days of giving me the runaround, chrysler said that they will not pay to have it repaired because it is out of warranty.i looked on the internet and saw that other people have had the same problem. the dealership told me that they had just had a jeep with the same problem the previous week. a second service rep at chrysler had told me that she had the same problem. it obviously was not an isolated incident. *tr

I am reporting a very big safety concern about 2005 jeep grand cherokee limited v8 hemi interior door handles as it is made of very cheap plastic and i have the four handles ripped off on my vehicle. the only way to open the doors are from outside. in case of emergency or if the car is damaged where i can not bring down the windows i will be stuck inside the car. when i tried to order a replacement parts i found it is out of stock and backordered. it might take few months before i get it. this just show how big is the problem and how many cars are involved. *tr

The passenger side window on my 2005 jeep grand cherokee laredo will not roll up (after dropping down into the door on the highway). *tr

The sunroof/moonroof does not set appropriately when closed and causes water leak and subsequent water damages. this also leads to the drainage lines to clog up and causes water to backup into sensitive electrical components within the roof. my maplight and homelink buttons along with the sunroof engine and buttons have all failed to operate as a result of water damages. please request a recall on this as there is a database of consumers with similar complaints. *tr

I own a 2005 jeep grand cherokee that has 4 interior door handles broken. to get out of my car i have to roll down my window, open my door and then open the rest of the doors for my 3 kids. this is a scary situation in case i am involved in an accident and there is a fire. if my jeep turns off how am i supposed to roll down the electrical window and escape out of my car. our safety is in great danger because of defective door handles that are not even forced and break off so easily. another problem i have with my jeep is that when i start it and start driving, the electrical brake system light, the engine light, the abs light and some other light turn on. after the lights turn, the speedometer will no longer work, i can't see how many miles per hour i am driving. i have to turn of the jeep, restart it and that will make the speedometer work but the engine light will not go off. in a couple of occasions i have come to make a complete stop with the vehicle and all of a sudden it will turn off dead. i have to put the vehicle in park and restart it again. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 jeep grand cherokee. the contact stated that the interior door handle fractured and she was unable to exit the vehicle. the dealer advised the contact that there were no recalls and that she would have to repair them at her own expense. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. no repairs were performed. the current mileage was 85,000. the approximate failure mileage was 55,000. the consumer stated to date, she has replaced the left rear door at a cost of $ 425. the right rear door has been inoperable since early 2009. the left front door is almost inoperable and the right front door is showing signs of breaking. the left fron door window regulator had to be replaced, updated 01/19/12

Blower motor relay burned out three times. after search on internet found this is a very common problem with this vehicle. *tr

While driving the entire electrical system fails; lights start flashing, heat goes out, all system warning lights flash ( brakes, tire pressure, service 4 wheel drive system, check engine light comes on), i was able to continue to drive the car but the lights flashed continuously for approximately 15 miles. this has happened multiple times since i purchased the suv june 2005. the dealership runs test by say they cannot find anything wrong. i have read on the internet that this is happening to many owners of the 2005 jeep grand cherokee and the dealers and mechanics at the dealership cannot find anything wrong. this is a dangerous situation as many people also loose power and the suv shift into low gear. i am afraid to drive my jeep now because the check engine light keeps coming on and off. i am going back to the dealership again for some more stupid "i did not find anything wrong" statements. originally i was told it was because i had a remote starter so i has it disconnected and the problem still exists. *tr
