Dual side heating and air is not working properly on my 2001 jeep grand cherokee. passenger side is ice cold constantly, while my driver's side is working properly for now, but for how much longer? after a lot of reading of other articles, there should most absolutely be a recall, especially if i have to pay that kind of money to get it fixed, then i should be reimbursed. *js
A year ago automatic door locks and window switches on passenger's side, front and back, stopped working when passenger side front door interior light did not go on when driver's door was open. on occasion, door light would go on making everything operational. this was short-lived each time. recent item about a gm recall listed this same problem, stating if the circuit board inside driver's door got wet, it could corrode the circuit board, possibly causing smoke or fire. my concern is a safety one. was there a recall on this vehicle. it is a 2001 jeep grand cherokee limited, purchased by a relative in 2001 and transferred to me in 2007. *tr

Over the past three years my power windows slid down. one left rear a few years ago slid down as we were going down the road. rt passenger side down about a year later. january 2nd my passenger side window did the same. i took it into the shop and mechanic said it was the regulator, it would be 300.00 to fix it, he said yep that's common in jeeps. i have a friend who has a 2002 jeep, same problem with all four.... i'm a single mother, single grandmother that cant spare that kind of money. yesterday 04/14/2009 i walked out to my jeep to discover the window was down. thought wow i don't remember leaving my window down because i have sound equipment i would hate to have stolen. it was chilly out that morning, tried to roll it up.... guess what? now all of my power windows are broken due the regulators. fuel pump, and injectors are my problem too. oh yeah!!!!!!!!!! let me add the heater core to that. i love my jeep... i take good care of it, it looks brand new. the oil is changed with the best money can buy and on time every time if not sooner. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2001 jeep grand cherokee. the contact stated that a piece of plastic has melted inside the air conditioner which caused it from operating properly. the dual system malfunctioned and the contact has neither air conditioning nor heat. the repair advised the contact that the repair cost would be approximately $1000. the current mileage was approximately 108,000 and the failure mileage was approximately 85,000.
Blend doors in the heating system will no longer function creating a safety issue due to the defroster not working in the morning. i have had this replaced once already and it is malfunctioning once again. *tr
*tr
Air conditioner will not stop working on passenger side. heat only works on driver side. two mechanics have said the a/c blend door is not working and estimates have ranged from $500. to $800. for repairs. my husbands 2002 jeep grand cherokee began having the exact same problem a month before mine did. this should be a recall. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2001 jeep grand cherokee. when the contact attempts to activate the heater in cold weather, it does not function properly. she also cannot defrost the windshield while driving at any speed. the mechanic stated that the blend air door caused the failure, which is common for the grand cherokee when it reaches 50,000 miles or greater. the current and failure mileages were 85,000.
My '01 grand cherokee a/c and heater is uncontrollable. fan comes on but no air from vents.this seems to be a defect that is not uncommon with this model.several online sites show that this is not an isolated situation.60 k miles and jeep tells me that its out of warranty and they will not help.
A/c blend door failure on 2001 jeep grand cherokee limited. *tr
A/c blend air door problem. high cost of repair. *tr
Failure of the "dual climate control" dampener door. the dampener door control failed and i spent $700 to have it repaired with an updated part. *tr
Heater/ac not working on our 2001 grand cherokee limited v8 blend doors/motors are not working. throwing up codes 52,54,56. *cn
Air only blows one speed only at constant speed when accelerating and cuts off when braking. the air only blows hot air and the temp can not be changed. the air/heat started to not work correctly on the passenger side first then reached the drivers side. there is loud creaking noises coming from the dash when the unit is turned on or when the car is cut off. it can even be heard outside of the vehicle. *nm
Noticed that the head lights would automatically come on while the car was in park and shut off (headlight switch on auto) the radio controls on the steering wheel would work once in awhile the same for the cruise controls plus the horn does not work at all know did work when i bought it in april 06. i noticed when i played with the tilt steering something is would work some wouldn't. i believe that this might affect the airbag from deploying if in a wreck. *tr
Vehicle shakes when trying to break again. took in for service and told they had safety notice that the brakes and rotors were to be replaced. new mfg on the rotors, since they were having a problem. brakes and rotors replaced when 2 yrs in services with about 9k. 3 yrs later (29k per dealer) rotors need to be cut due to warping again. in 2003 was told when they changed the metal rotors, i should not have the problem again. now the vehicle is out of warranty and rotors are warped. *nm
I was never told that there was a problem with 1999-2004 jeep grand cherokees air conditioning units failing?! why has jeep done nothing about this problem!?! i am now stuck with a jeep that has uncontrollable air conditioning malfunctions.. i am very upset with jeep. *jb
I have a 2001 jeep grand cherokee that i purchased new. within the last month i have had two power window failures. this car is primarily driven by my wife and has only opened and closed the windows on occassions. this appears to be a defect in the power window mechanism.
My 2001 grand cherokee is experiencing a severe vibration problems when braking. i've contacted the nw jeep dealership in beaverton oregon and they have informed me this problem is not taken care by the jeep corporation. i believe this is an inherit defect to the car since i had this same problem fixed a year ago and now they are refusing to fix the same issue since it is not under warantee any longer. i've spoken to several jeep owner on the similar vintage vehicle and they are also having the same issue. i believe the government should force the jeep corpoartion to put the vehicle as a recall item. *ak
Brake rotors on my 2001 jeep grande cherokee have been replaced at 7,968 miles, 14,133 miles, 21,839 miles and the condition is recurring at 26,677 miles. information from the dealer indicates that this is a problem effective thousands of jeep owners nationwide and daimlerchryster is not cooperating and not taking responsibility for obviously defective equipment that is being replace with defective equipment. odi - nhtsa apparently has not launched a formal investigation, but certainly should. to force daimlerchrysler to address this problem and initiate a much needed recall.*ak
I have 47000 miles on my 2001 jeep grand cherokee and have had to replace the rotors twice. once at about 25000 miles and now again at 47000 miles. what a rip off. *ak
I am the original owner of a 2001 jeep grand cherokee. at 24k miles, the brakes vibrated so bad that i had to apply significant force to the steering wheel to maintain safe braking. my jeep dealer told me i had to have the entire brake system redone-and i did- $600+ bill. now 10k miles later, the brakes are again pulsing. the dealer now says the rotors need to be resurface-same ones they replaced 10k miles ago and that this isn't covered under warranty. what is going on? why no recall? does someone need to get hurt in an accident?*ak
Consumer complained about electrical problems. air conditioner regulator and fan stopped working. also, consumer had to replace both driver's side and passenger's side window switch regulator.*ak
The consumer stated the brake pedal traveled to the floor. the mechanic found the front brakes pulsating and the master cylinder was leaking. the master cylinder was replaced. *ak also the transmission was slipping, the air condition was not very cold. *jb
On 8/30/01 at 7,968 at miles front brake rotors and pads were replaced. same condition occurred and on 8/9/02 at 14,133 miles, caliper kits and front rotors were replaced. again on 7/16/03 at 21,839 miles front rotors were replaced and brake pads were cleaned up.*ak
Recall generation 3 seat belts. i have actually had problems with most manufacturer seat belts, including aircraft belts (pacific scientific). i selected "20" in the failures slot so this will get through. using my skills as an aircraft tech. i have also inspected auto belts and found most of them regardless of manufacturer to be '!@#$%. *nlm
My 2001 jeep grand cherokee has to the shop twice for the same complaint. the car shimmies very bad above 40 mph when the brake is applied. i only have 18,700 total miles on the car. the first incident occurred at approximately 8500 miles and the dealer replaced the required parts according to the technical bulletin issued by daimler chrysler. the second time (same exact shimmy indication), i was told that the rotors had to be turned and that it was a heat problem and not covered under any warranty. furthermore, the problem was perhaps a driver habit and not any fault of the manufacture. i paid the bill and informed the service manager that i was not happy with this situation and wanted him to verify through his district manager that this was appropriate action and not a warranty item. he said that he would and get back with me. *nlm
the air conditioner ( a/c) doesn't work. the door blends are failing.*ak
When driving and applying brakes vehicle will shake and shimmy very hard. consumer believes that rotors are defective, the dealer found that the rotors were warped and replaced them under warranty, there is an odor and humming sound coming from the a/c when turning on the system, the deler has been unable to duplicate the problem, the vehicle experienced low idle while in gear, the dealer found it necessary to flash the pcm, exhaust manifold was loose causing it to make a rattling noise.*ak *nlm
Loosing approximately 1 gallon of antifreeze per 1000 miles. dealer repairs number of times starting from purchase at 19,000 miles (was told to ay $268 by customer service to replace radiator when finally diagnosed at 40,000 miles to get vehicle back even though it was under warranty and vehicle is still losing same amount of coolant)/ low oil pressure was finally corrected by replacing undersized cam...didn't replace lifters, etc... incorrect procedure because they wear together/ a/c and cruise fixed by zip tying a large vacuum resevoir bottle to a/c line/transmission shift poorly. ph **dimsii ivoq entry posted after 12/12/02 cut over to artemis**768322
My wife and i purchased a new 2001 chrysler grand cherokee and have had nothing but problems with our brakes, rotors and calipers. the warranty covered it for the first three years and the chrysler manufacturing paid for repairs up to now, but are now refusing to pay for future repairs. and it's due again, the brakes and rotors have been replaced every year. i believe this is a secret recall and i'm sure a technical service bulletin was issued to all the dealer repair shops and that angers me and i'm sure a lot of your complaints as well my wife and i are at our wit's end and don't know who to turn to. this to me, warrants a nation wide recall, does someone have to die before chrysler takes this complaint seriously or has it already happened and the people who investigated the accident wasn't aware of this dangerous defect, who knows? we refuse to trade it in or sell because we simply can't afford it at this time, it's paid for. any advice and/or guidance will be appreciated. thanks. *jb
Vehicle has been in to dealer three times already for rotors, and problem still occurs, vehicle shakes when brakes are applied. contacted dealer. *ak consumer states noise from right front of console. the air conditioner does not cool enough due to leakage. *yh
Consumer is unable to control vehicle while driving, the steering wheel pulsates when braking, consumer was informed that the problem is with premature warpage of rotors in which dealer is aware of and is willing to turn consumers rotors free of charge or purchase two new rotors at consumers expense, however consumer was informed that turning of the rotors would not last and the problem would reoccur.*jb
Transmission problem/ the transmission bangs, and i do mean bangs into gear. chrysler said this is normal for an electronic transmission. this does not happen all the time, but it does occur at any speed and in any gear except 1st. chrysler district rep said this is the electronic transmission searching for the next gear, he called it a burp. i have felt what he is talking about, i have driven many other vehicles with electronic transmissions, but what i am saying is this suv actually bangs or klunks into gear sometimes, especially when i first drive it for the day, it will slam, not burp, into second gear . also it seems to occur more often when going into 4th gear, when my speed is in the 45 to 50 miles per hour range. this suv has slammed into gear while up shifting and down shifting. there is no way this slamming / banging / klunking into gear can be considered normal. a/c problem - the vehicle has a miss in it when a/c is on. most noticable when on the highway, occurs about every 10 seconds. it feels like the vehicle has just gone over a bump in the road. i was told this is also normal . this is the a/c system cycling. i have driven well over a hundred vehicles or more, all of them automatics, all of them had a/c , no other car ,truck or suv i have ever driven has had a miss or lurch every 10 seconds when the a/c is on or slams into gear. chrysler says this is completely normal, i have gone and test driven 3 other grand cherokee limiteds, i did not notice these problems with those vehicles.*ak
