We have classified the 13 complaints from 2010 Jeep Commander about ELECTRICAL SYSTEM into the following categories.
While driving my radio shuts on and off constantly. sometimes my dash lights flash and beep then my odometer dials start to flutter up and down and my blinker will hesitate when it's on.
I have had to replace the battery in my car 4 times since i purchased the vehicle 5 years ago.
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 jeep commander. while attempting to turn off the vehicle, the key was removed from the ignition; however, the vehicle would remain on. the contact had to make several attempts to turn off the vehicle. the contact took the vehicle to a certified mechanic who diagnosed that the failure was related to nhtsa campaign number: 10v200000 (electrical system); however, the vin was not included. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 105,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 jeep commander. when the key was removed from the ignition, all the warning indicators on the instrument panel remained illuminated. the contact also stated that the damaged key warning indicator illuminated continuously and caused the battery to die. the failure recurred continuously. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the wireless ignition node module failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 10v200000 (electrical system). the failure mileage was approximately 100,000. ....updated 0711/16 *bf *tr
Vehicle has just now reached 84000 and has been experiencing these symptoms for about 20000 miles now. the vehicle is experiencing what i believe to be short circuits within the cabin and are as follows /drivers door window actuater switch not allowing proper window operation .also same affected side /drivers door is being indicated by vehicle notification system that it is open. even when it's not also vehicle will not and does occasionally. airbag light will stay on during supposed to be normal operating speeds. vehic)ie when stopped as well passenger manual seat has a chattering sound when moved forward or backward. vehicle has and does get its required maintenence routine however these anomalies couldn't even be explained fully the repair shop we had taken it to by some fluke the malfunction didn't occur each time we've havery taken it to them wowever me fear is that it is some kind of short in the electrical component and me cause a overheated situation and catch the vehic)e on fire. for clarification the vehicle does it through all operating modes as to which like i stated is a short of some kind.in the door is or the computer don't know. couldn't get a straight on answer as far as to why it still does it.
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 jeep commander. the contact stated that after parking and turning the vehicle off, the engine continued to run. the vehicle was not taken to the dealer. the vehicle was taken to the dealer. the technician diagnosed that the wireless ignition module needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 70,000.
After application of safety recall n23/ nhtsa 13v-175. reprogram final drive controller module. 2005 - 2010. (wk) jeep grand cherokee. 2006 - 2010. (xk) jeep commander, the transfer case of our car could not be shifted out of 4-high to either neutral or 4-low. consequently a major drive train component has been destroyed. this demonstrates the software is defective and potentially dangerous and may not correct the reason for the recall. this is completely unacceptable and is indeed a safety risk. chrysler has not remedied the problem even after thousands of complaints. i demand that nhtsa force chrysler's hand in this matter as nothing is being done to fix this faulty recall! *tr
After having safety recall n23 / nhtsa 13v-175 performed, my vehicle's transfer case no longer shifts as it should, preventing the vehicle from shifting into neutral or 4 low. i do not trust that the stability control system will function correctly now as it is my understanding that this same system adjusts the torque to the front and rear axles as needed. *tr
Vehicle idles poorly and 4 wheel drive transfer case motor does not work after dealership performed n23 recall work. this is a vehicle with less than 40,000 miles on it. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 jeep commander. the contact stated that while driving approximately 35 mph, the vehicle decelerated and proceeded to stall. the failure recurred various times at speeds below 40 mph. the contact referenced nhtsa campaign number: 13v175000 (electrical system , power train) but was advised by the manufacturer that the vin was not included in the recall. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 87,000. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 jeep commander. the contact stated that the key was resistant to be removed from the ignition. the contact had to remove the fuse in order to shut off the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to the dealer who stated that the key needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was contacted and stated to replace the battery, which was replaced but the failure continued. the failure mileage was 62,000 and the current mileage was 62,300.
Commander will turn off when pulling away from a stop sign, pulling into the garage, turning a corner. the first event was turning left from a stop light after i had been going 65mph on the highway. 11/26/2012 this vehicle to dealership following several more stalls while driving. nothing was noted on the dealership evaluation. the most frightening event was on the highway at 60mph and simply died in the middle lane in the dark, at night. i thought i was going to die on that road. the engine panels all went down, lights went off, engine shut off. this vehicle continued to die at unexpected intervals on the road. 10/28/13 the dealership stated tipm was shorted internally, the tipm was replaced. this vehicle has continues to die while driving on the road, pulling away from a stoplight or simply turning a corner or driving into the garage from the driveway.
Vehicle died on road, towed to shop they could not find error, they updated the computer. released vehicle back to me. began dieing on road, lost steering, lost brakes, unsure if lights worked. limped back to dealer. dealer finally reported that it was a bad wiring harness connection to the ignition system. 2010 jeep commander with 5k miles. barely missed hitting a police vehicle. *tr
